Why do people still bitch about server maintenance?
Don't people have jobs?lives?do you sleep?kids maybe? For fucks sake it's one "half day" where you don't get play a month maybe? Calm down already.
People who tell other people who are already calm to calm down are ingrates.
All I'm saying is, they could post the server maintenance times on the login page; on this occasion there was nothing there anyway.
Also, this sin't an MMO. It shouldn't be going down this often, end of story.
What? The game itself has little to do with hardware stability. Hardware =/= Software, end of story. They have an entire forum DEDICATED to Blizzard and Battle.net service, where they promptly post updates on scheduled service. Just because you can not google, just because you are not able to search for yourself, just because they don't hand you what you want on a silver platter does not mean there is something wrong with them. The Diablo 3 player base is over half that of WoW's, and as we know from Launch day, that was very unexpected. If you think it's so simple to run such massive and complex hardware, then you sir are gravely mistaken, as just because you can not see it, does not mean it is not there.
Seeing the post above, Breaking news is for important things, "breaking" things. So if servers unexpectedly blew up, then they post. You're arguing your own argument "Use X, because that's what its there for" well replace X with service status forum instead of breaking news page.
The primary source of the information was updated (see: forums on official community site). That would be like saying you can't believe they are doing road construction right outside your house, when it was in the newspaper that they would be working on your street for the next 1-2 weeks, and you are appalled because you were not directly informed. The information was provided, you just chose not to read the primary source of said information.
It's more like the road workers often work on your road at nights, while you're trying to sleep. They have a sign that they update (supposedly regularly) about the current status of the roads and when they're going to be working on them. It's right in front of your house so it's in plain view, and you know to be prepared for a noisy night ahead when they do announce when they'll be working.
Instead, they decide to not use the sign altogether (without warning) and announce it in their newsletter that you never read - I mean, why would you? You have a sign right there that should be telling you all you need to know about the construction schedules.

Breaking news: literally only for things breaking.
Let's see, I saw it on the website, the Breaking News section before I logged into the game this morning (yes, it was there), and on their Twitter feed. If I followed them on Facebook I probably could have found it there, and then as someone else mentioned a quick Google search also yields the info. Not to mention the fact that Tuesday has been Blizzard's maintenance day for years now.
It's at the point now that you have to go out of your way NOT to know maintenance is going to happen.

The people getting hurt the most by random unscheduled maintenances are the people who can't play all day. If you have put aside time to play at a certain time, and the servers are down, you might have lost your entire Diablo 3 playing for that week.

First off maintenance is mostly likely always on Tuesday morning. Secondly most average people who have jobs and lives work during these hours. Point being?
If you are so butt hurt about 1 day of maintenance go play another game.

Orrrrrrrr....you could look at the post on the forums that stated the scheduled maintenance 3 days ago.
Just because they didn't put it right in front of YOU, doesn't mean that it wasn't announced. If you can't be bothered to look this stuff up ahead of time, doesn't mean that it's blizzard's fault.
I'm so tired of the entitled whiners that shit up this community.
Or they could just post it on the login page, soe very single player would see it. Is there a good reason not to? If it was posted when it started, there was no reason for it to not be posted earlier.
You're the one shitting up this community, fanboy. Learn to discern legitimate constructive criticism from whining. Critical thinking skills dude. Are there any negatives to posting the maintenance schedule in-game where every player will see it?
I seem to remember in the first ~2 weeks they did that. I assumed they would just keep doing it, for convenience sake.
Yeah I mean, it would be sweet if they, you know had a direct link to their forum announcements right in the game launcher..... or something....

You missed the words "Random" and "Unscheduled". That was quite a big part of the point.

Yeah the random quotes on there site and twitter telling us it would be down on a day that is always the maintenance day is random.

1.) I haven't played a Blizzard game that had maintenance, ever. This routine has been two months long for me.
2.) You just admitted "breaking news" can include the schedule, so why not in the launcher or login screen?
Let's see, I saw it on the website, the Breaking News section [...] and on their Twitter feed. If I followed them on Facebook I probably could have found it there, and then as someone else mentioned a quick Google search also yields the info.
4.) The way the Diablo III is an icon on my desktop. All of those are out of it. I do not wake up every day thinking "I should check on tomorrow's Diablo availability!" I wake up thinking "I might play some Diablo today!".
There is a pretty serious lack of critical thinking skills and some pretty hardcore fanboy drama going on here. It seems to me the best place to post a maintenance schedule would be on the launcher.
