After much gearing up and farming, I was able to close a 20 million gold sale on an item. Not the richest man now but I certainly have some buying power.
Question, should I bother going max crit gear, or wait to see what the prices do when the legendary buff comes in (and who knows what will happen to IAS).
I've upgraded most of the pieces that I want to a place that's "good enough" for now. Anything I find that isn't for my barb and exponentially better I'm selling until buffed legendary patch.
I think I've virtually maxxed out what I can buy for my barb within reason. I only have 1 million gold, so don't want to spunk it all on a weapon for minor improvement. I'm going for a crit build and have a 580DPS mace with +230 strength and +46% crit hit damage. For any substantial improvement on that I'm looking at spending half my cash.
I did have a ring drop last night in act 1 though, it had +2.5% crit chance, +7% attack speed, and +str/+vit. It's probably the best individual drop I've had, and it came in Act 1 Inferno.
Careful with maxing crit, right now it's a pretty powerful stat, a lot of people are getting it, and it could see some nerfs in the future (specially +crit damage?), considering how it works with some skills (which are particularly powerful with 40-50%+ crit chance).
I'd say define a random amount to spend (30%, 50%) and spend it smartly, with good bids and considerable upgrades. Don't spend 3m on an item that's going to give you +10 to all resist, do it on something that will give you +120 on your main stat, or +50 all resist.
You need money to make money. Simple as that. All the gears you've invested in will help you farm faster and thus gets more chance at good drop per hour. Eventually you'll be making up for the investment you've put in.
And let's not forget, you could always sell back those gears you've bought after you've done with them/get better upgrade. Sure, it might become obsolete and sell cheaper by that time, but at least you get to use it and farm more stuff in the meantime. Besides, you'll never know if you might even make profit from reselling them...

Stockpile or Splurge?
