Remember way back when? jay wilson said you wouldnt just go through an act and have it be the same thing the whole way through like diablo 2? ( act 2 all sand, act 3 all jungle, and temple type dungeons)
but now what happend? theres like 2 tarrain types, look at act 3, theres the outside on the castle top with snow, and inside dungeon type tarrain, nothing else, a bit uncreative.
Is anyone else with me? or do you like watching the same terrain move by for 30 minutes?
10 years and thats all they did? seriously now.
To be fair, you're ignoring quite a few of the different terrain types, like the arreat crater levels, the tower, and the ice caves. But I'm a little bit disappointed too. More because of how similar the layout is in each playthrough.

While I can see where you are coming from, I utterly adore the terrian in D3, it is distinct, and lovely.
This one will boil down to personal opinion though.
Also, from what I can see, there is FAR more randomization in D3 then there ever was in D2, not even counting "Events" that are above and beyond anything D2 ever did.

You cant see very far then.
I can load up D2 RIGHT NOW, and see the amount of randomization in the levels.
I also have several thousands of hours logged into D2 for referance.
I will say it again;
There is more randomization in D3. Where are YOU seeing more randomization in D2? Or are you just saying it because you think its true? When was the last time you played D2?

Ah, the classic "Gonna say the opposite but utterly fail to justify my stance in any way" tactic. Found in the repertoire of the most brilliant debaters.
Anyways, I'm gonna have to disagree. I find that while the layouts might not be as randomized as far as their perimeters, the content of areas is heavily randomized and a new experience on each playthrough. Plus, I really dig the art style they've gone with. Some areas are nice to just stop and admire every once in a while.
Meh. It's a trope-heavy genre. You're going to get Grassy Plains, Snowy Plains, Sandy Plains, Scary Dungeon, Evil Dungeon, Cavey McCavington and The Lava Level. It is what it is. The High Heavens was a pleasant suprise, but honestly the scenery becomes background noise after the first few run-throughs. It's like in-game music... no matter how good it is, sooner or later you get sick of it.
Except Deus Ex.

Are you complaining for the sake of complaining?

BTW lets hope they put in many many more events in future patches / Expacs ( yes there will be expansions for those who think otherwise)
