They said they gave Magic Weapon a buff icon because it was really hard to see the effect on your weapon under certain circumstances. Familiar is much easier to see, and therefore doesn't need a buff icon as much.

well when your focusing on cooldowns, hp and looking where the monsters are and kiting them your not looking at a small orb floating around. It doesn't really catch your eye and act 3/4 is pretty hectic. Which I won't be able to clear anymore. went from 60k dps to 38. The couple million I spent between my andys rings and amulet is worthless now.
If you can't see an orb swirling over your shoulder how are you going to see a buff icon?
Buff icons are always in one place, next to mentioned health bar and cooldowns and never move and it's much easier to notice you have 3-4 buffs up rather then none.
And also if your argument were that you can just see the orb, magic weapon has a visual change lol. Probably just as noticeable as the orb. Even if it's the same elemental damage type it becomes more exaggerated when active.
Just do what my brother does and rebuff it between fights. Not really sure what the cost of it is, but it can't be that bad that it's totally going to gimp your next fight. Get used to the cooldown and duration, and rebuff accordingly.

wrong, in town, your weapon is not drawned, and thus the effect of magic weapon do not show.
I don't understand why any wizards were stacking IAS. Unless you're using piercing orb spam, it's pretty useless other than to inflate the damage on your character sheet. You just use up AP faster for everything else, and it doesn't help Blizzard or Hydra damage at all. Granted you want at least 1.5 aps so you can kite effectively, but anything more is really just a waste.
The buff to Wizards is the fact that crit should now work for every ability. Previously it worked for about 20% of our AP-using abilities. Now we can actually use non-arcane orb builds and stack AP on crit to get endless streams of AP.
And also if your argument were that you can just see the orb, magic weapon has a visual change lol. Probably just as noticeable as the orb. Even if it's the same elemental damage type it becomes more exaggerated when active.
not even remotely as noticeable as the orb, especially depending on the orientation of your char. That being said, there's really no GOOD reason to not include all buffs on the buff bar.
The force weapon tooltip was fixed, so everybody's character sheet damage went down (everybody using force weapon) but your actual damage should be exactly the same (not counting the IAS changes).

wrong? lol. it shows either way. your argument is invalid.

considering their buff bar can only show 5 currently, there is.
That's their fault then and I also disagree with there only needing to be 5 buffs shown at once. Every buff should be shown. Buffs are buffs no matter what anybody thinks of them, and they're all important enough to need to know whether or not they're up or not regardless whether they're noticeable or not.
When your in a battle or in an area constantly fight your not going to cast your buffs randomly. your focusing on hp of you and them, avoiding being hit and using your cool downs and resource efficiently. The buff icons are always in the same place and can not be covered up by walls, objects, your companion, other players, or mobs which the orb can and when it does disappear you may not always notice it's gone.
Dropped from 33k dmg to 25k.. that's a 30% dmg nerf, maybe they hit IAS too hard.. glad I could get some cheap crit items saved up for when this happened.. easier Act 2 mobs? Even if they deal 10-15% less damage and have less HP, I'm 30% down on my own dmg..
And to think my Cascade + Arcane Hydra build was working decently in Act 2 before.. makes me quite sad..
Fail #1 for ambiguous, borderline misleading, title. Something tells me people will be visiting this thread to see what improvements there are for wizards in 1.0.3

Fail #2 for being retarded. In some situations the visual is nigh impossible to see, Blizzard has stated this themselves. Just because you don't have a weapon in which this is the case doesn't mean others don't, the world still spins while you're not around. Oh, and a little light is hardly "just as noticeable" as an actual object floating around your character in addition to generating extra projectiles for that matter. Try harder.
and it doesn't help Blizzard or Hydra damage at all.
That's so not true, hydra damage is scaling with the dps shown on your character sheet, which is increased by IAS, therefore IAS increases hydra damage.
While I don't know enough about Wizard mechanics to say you're wrong about Hydra scaling with attack speed, I do know that its damage is not based on the Damage stat in your character sheet. Nothing is based on that. It's just a general number calculated based on your damage stats and weapon damage to show you a rough damage estimate.
A common misconception people have is that more character sheet Damage means more damage. Not all abilities scale with attack speed, therefore not all builds gain more damage from increased attack speed.

I went from near 70K DPS.. to 40K. It's possible to still farm Pony land, and do everything I did before, its just a bit more of a pain in the ass.
As a test I also went and bought a 8.5% crit, 33% crit damage 127 int gloves just to see if even hitting our previous DPS numbers was possible. Was a bit surprised to notice that it only increased my DPS by 400 over my 9% (131 Int) AS gloves.
That's frankly pretty sad, and just clearly illustrates that regardless of *what* you buy, you simply wont be achieving the DPS you did before. The nerf was simply overboard.
Dont even get me started on my Monk, who went from doing fine in all difficulties minus Act 4 (could do it, just not fine..) to being hit with a "wtf just happened" bat. Nerfing mob damage by 36% is fine and dandy, but it dosent help when you lose 40-45% of your DPS.
Suffice it to say, the game simply isnt fun anymore for me. I'll still play it simply because I'm making so much money off the RMAH, but in terms of a fun time, its not.
Really people? Blizzard is not at fault for nerfing the IAS values, anyone who has followed their design philosophy for gear in D3 can see it clearly. It was a stat that gave too much return at too little of a stat budget, destroying diversity in stat choices. They really should be blamed for not doing the math before the game shipped. If you were playing WoW and could get 30% haste on the same ilvl gear that you could otherwise get 10% crit, the choice would be obvious.

On a side note, andys visage sucks now.. should have kept my old helmet with 216 intel %4 crit chance.

Lastly...
"Only" 5 minutes? You mean the longest lasting buff duration in the game?
