Yeah I know DH or OP with Damage, fine. But really, nerfing IAS is hurting everyone. If they are going to the extent of lowering the difficulty in inferno, why are they taking away something that gives us all damage?
If they are not buffing some other stat in items, how does this improve the game? Its just taking away a mechanic that gives something good to everyone
If I had to guess, I would say that attspd is giving EVERYONE an extra advantage that allow's them to get thru the game (acts 2-3-4 INFERNO) faster than blizzard had intended. AkA, NERF BAT INC.

I hope it causes a system crash trying to edit all those billions of items in the game and it doesnt work.
I don't think it has anything to do with class balance or changing difficulty. It has to do with the fact that increased attack speed on rings, amulets and gloves is vastly superior to any other affix that can spawn for nearly every build in every class. They're trying to bring it more in line with other affixes so it'll be good for some builds and mediocre for others.

...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.
Blizzard had said, they don't like the idea of putting in another "hidden" modifer to scale down attackspeed. (For example there is a 0.75 scaler to "Frenzy" when work on trigger abilities like "Life on Hit")
At least by nerfing the attackspeed openly and retroactively, everyone would be able to pick up the change and account it when planning or improving their heroes.
Somebody from this forum had brought up an interesting point towards this change, (sorry forgot who said it), that the retroactive nerf instead of only the future drops, will bring everybody more in line; more balance for newly created charactors and for people who haven't got many attackspeed % items beside the class balance and item affixes balance.

That and it won't turn all the old attack speed gear into beyond-amazingly-expensive, grandfathered items of unbelievable power, and solve no issue, aside from making a distinct division between players with old Attack Speed gear, and players with New.
It had to be retroactive, to actually SOLVE the issue. It was solved by changing how the game interprets each rank of the +% Attack Speed values.
With the buffing of Legendaries in 1.1, they can't make the change retroactively, because they are also adding in new unique effects for the Legendary items, on top of buffing them big time. And since so many stats are variables (even just the base DPS/Armor are not 100% fixed, but have a range), there is no way to tweak them all up AND add in the new abilities (which may replace existing ones on some Legendaries), to all the existing Legendary items that every player has.
People had to stack IAS because Blizzard screwed up on Inferno Act2+ so bad that it was our only option. Thankfully this nerf hits the same time as the inferno nerf so we'll see if it's going to prevent people with lots of IAS from progressing w/o having to refarm new sets.

What? Inferno Act 2 and beyond is fine. They are nerfing IAS because it's usually the best stat for everyone so people were forgoing other items/stats for it. IAS will still be good but the decision to stack it will be more difficult.
