I'm a WD 60, been running butcher in act 1 inferno since forever. While I do pretty good in act 1, I get my ass owned to me on a silver plate when I try to go in act 2. So I went back in act 1, doing butcher runs hoping for some loot that will be good enough to start running act 2 but it just doesn't drop.
So my only option is to collect enough gold to buy shit in the AH that will be me strong enough for Act 2.
But now I just can't figure out how people ever managed to venture in act 2 with the crap that drops in act 1. They must of used glitches or exploits or something when the game came out because there is no way you can go in act 2 with the stuff that drops in act 1.
I'm really bummed at how the loot mechanics works in this game :/

To a big part, they used skills and abilities that were stronger than Blizzard intended (and has since been fixed), or used farm spots that were shortly after nerfed. They also played in groups with skilled friends, which makes a big difference.
i have to say i'm kind of in the same boat as you lol. Everytime i get new gear and think okay now lets see how bad act 2 is i do okay vs white mobs and then a champion pack comes along and reminds me just how undergeared i am. Any upgrade at this point is about 2.5mil unless i get really lucky. I've been doing warden/butcher runs for about 2 weeks now and though i get some decent drops that sell on the AH, i need to sell like 5 of them just to buy one item x.x So starting this week i'm going to try something different. The warden/butcher runs are great but i get burnt out on them and hoping for that good rare item that'll sell for 500k or more gets disappointing. So imma start doing full act 1 runs mainly for the gold drops. I may get a good rare here and there but i won't be relying on them and then hoping my item sells on the AH. I also won't feel like i'm rushing around just to get to those 2 bosses and then start again.

I like it how people imply you're a cheater when they're not good enough to do what you do. Makes me proud.
When I got my wizard to A2 I was 1-shot by almost everything. Also, I had like 16k DPS, so couldn't zerg shit and had to kite for hours to kill anything. Yet I still managed to get through A2 in 1 day. Yes, I skipped a lot of elites in the process. I also died a lot in the process. And I mean A LOT. But in the end of the day I still made it to A3 even with my shitty gear.
So, I can tell you how people manage to get through A2 in A1 gear - they are determined to progress through the game no matter what, so they keep on trying no matter how hard it is. If you don't have that then the only option for you is to keep on doing Butcher-runs, sell useless gear and buy updrades. At some point you'll overgear A2 and will be able to progress further. Or wait for the total nerf, aka 103.

I'm not implying anything, everybody knows there was exploits in the early days of the game that people took advantage off.
Such an amazing breed of gamer to progress through act 2 with pre nerf force armour.
I didn't use pre-nerf FA because I knew it's an exploit and will be fixed. You'd know that if you read the "everything 1-shot me in A2" part, but apparently you didn't or don't know how FA worked pre-nerf.
Either way, it's fine. Like I said, it's fun to see mad people cry "cheater" at your legit progress.
While the AH certainly will help (or make it really easy), I don't think it is ESSENTIAL for progression. I have spent less than 2 million gold on the AH, and I am making slow but steady progress through A2 on my Barb(!!). It has to do with making sure you are getting the Right gear, and also using skills that will actually help you progress in the context of the game/act.
These topics are so hilarious. Yes there were some people that used the kinda broken skills to progress, but since then MANY more people have progressed through normal means through Act2,3,4. It just takes determination, skill, intelligence (being able to use the AH correctly) and some patience. You also need to know how to gear properly depending on what skills you use and how to balance your stats correctly or your just wasting your time/money. I'm a monk halfway through act 3 and haven't used any exploits/cheats and have been steadily buying upgrades as i find affordable ones or finding them off drops. Reading your crybaby posts everyday really makes me sick and I hope you guys are stuck forever in act 1 honestly since you deserve to be there with all the whining and crying I see everyday.

You don't even understand his point. The people that are progressing past act 2 nowadays are doing it with the use of AH. Do you think the first players that did it had any help from AH? No, they (mostly) used skills, abilities and farming spots that has since been nerfed.
As soon as I read that Blizzard hadn't really playtested ActII+, I figured the best approach would be to level alts, farm nerd-points or play not-Diablo3 until Blizzard had done a tuning pass.
3 days have gone by, farming act 1 all the time, did not find a single upgrade for my toon. I'm talking here 15 hours of farming and not a single item that would make me stronger for act 2. This is BS man. On the ohter hand I have 1.5mil so I guess I can buy ONE item that could help me... Stupid game.
Everyone who is farming Act 3/4 inferno or ponies bought nearly 100% of their loot on the AH. Or exploited bugs early on (free resplendant chests in Act 2, whatever). Or cheesed OP builds. Mathematically, it's just not possible to get perfect gear sets in this period of time.
I've been farming Act 1 inferno for like 2 weeks now trying, desperately, not to upgrade via the AH. I did Act 1 twice today. And the upgrades are few and very far between. I've never rolled a "perfect" item in Act 1 that would allow me to survive more than 2 hits in Act 2. Legendaries coming out my ass? Sure. (3 today alone). Upgrades? Yeah, right.

If you can't handle act 2 inferno yet, your gear is at a state where 1.5 mil should upgrade a bunch of your gear, not just one piece.

Yes there was a lot of abusive mechanics during the first week, but DH and Wiz still have it easy anyway.
A2 is hard for ranged anyway, lot of mobs having ridiculous temporary immunes that rush you without you preventing it.
(And people farm a lot of goblins too).
Welcome in Inferno, A1 was the fun part
im in the same situation, stuck in act for 2 weeks now as wd i cant progress, ive killed thousands of goblins and nothing good droped
Should have used the gold dupe, buy crazy gear, finish Inferno, get banned, be done with the game.
