Okay, so for starters, I don't mean the Normal-Nightmare-Hell-Inferno structure. I think that, by itself, is as much a part of the Diablo serious as anything else. I mean how easy Normal mode. The argument "just play it in harder modes" doesn't work for a lotta people, as Blizzard itself has admitted most people didn't play past normal.
So, how would you like to see Normal made harder? I don't want it just made harder, because a lot of people aren't interested in it being a lot harder.
Personally, I'd like a comeback of the /players 8 from D2. Obviously it wouldn't be a console type command, but a drop down mention in the menu. It would straight increase the difficulty as if there where as many players as you entered, but not the drop rates or exp (so as to not overlevel). It would also be adjustable at any time, and default back to /players 1 at the beginning of each difficulty.
I relax and take my time through Normal. I play solo, explore everything, experience the story, and listen to the lore. In NM and beyond I play cooperatively, skip the story and use the AH. For that initial playthrough with a new character I like to enjoy the world of Sanctuary without the fear of death.
I don't think /players 8 or anything like it will be implemented in Diablo III, but I'm not against the idea. I can see why some players would enjoy such a feature.
I would say that an option to skip it (or well them not fixing the ways of powerleveling) like you could in d2 with rushing would solve the problem considering most people don't really want it to be harder they just it to be done with so they can get to another dificulty.
Not to bash on ur idea or anythign and I'm sure people used the /player command to increase dificulty but really all I ever saw it usefull for was to level faster in areas you know you could handle and that gave great xp. And why would people make normal harder for themself when all it does is make it take longer before they get to inferno or hell for that matter which is the real challenge and point (most people don't relvl characters to have fun they do it to try a new chracter and that isnt' really done before you get higher lvl).
You say it yourself a lot of people aren't interested and the few that are should consider powering through normal so they can get to more chalenging content
A) Skipping it is only relevent if you're doing it to get to a goal - lvl 60 or Inferno. This is for people who want more of a challenge
Pretty much every review I've seen complained about how easy the game is.
C) Some people want a game to be a challenge. Telling them to power through Normal to get through to Nightmare misses the point - they shouldn't have to waste their time, and "beat" a game they only intended (or had time) to beat once, just to make it difficult.
Don't get me wrong, I fully intended to level up to inferno, so I did not mind the easyness of Normal. But when a lot of people are just up front that they don't intend to play the game 3+ times, I think something could be done to make that one time more enjoyable (for those who enjoy the challenge).
Normal is a good way of you getting to learn how to play your class (not that it's very difficult) and play with all your skills, since you unlock the last one at level 30.
Well, normal is a very good way for newbs to learn the game. In d2, there wasn't really any "tutorial" I remember. There was 1 for sure but it wasn't very long and lots of people gave up on the game. Now in d3, it's much clearer and simple. Longer and better.

A) If they want more of a challenge he have it in Nightmare, Hell and Inferno mode.
sunglasses) Professional reviews are made by people who spend a full 8 hour work day on the game. Stop.
C) 60hrs is the avg time people spend on a game. It takes at mpst about 20 hrs to beat normal.
If they failed to do the most basic research on a game before buying it then whatever.
