those of us who enjoy the game are usually busy....enjoying the game, while the trolls are out complaining because they dont like the game. If the forums were crashing left and right from people complaining and the game was running flawless due to no traffic, we'd have a different story. I think the vast majority of fans actually love the game.
You have to remember, people out there thing they deserve to get a refund for the game because they "don't like it" after playing through several difficulties. They're are also people who out there who seriously think this is the worst launch ever. Worse than Dead Island, which supposedly had the alpha code releaed on launch. Worse then Skyrim, which wasn't, appearenty, unplayable on PS3 because of a save file bug. Worse then one of the FO3 expansions that was missing entire texture packages, so half the scenary was just giant red exclamation points?
Seriously though, this game is a lot of fun. If you actually take the time to see what these so-called 'fans' are moaning about, you'd see it goes along the lines of, "Inferno is too hard, I can't do everything on my first run through", "legendary items aren't the most epic gear ever, this game is fail", "AH ruined the game, even though you said we will have to farm the hell out of each act to progress to the next one, and that AH is an option where you can get gear for money, wah wah wah", "the story didn't go how I wanted it to go, so therefor I'm sure it must be lame"... I'm don't even go onto the official forums anymore, the stupidity over there is rampant.
What insipid whining little spoiled brats don't seem to understand is, all these complaints are so, so, so very minor, it's barely even game breaking. The foundation of the game is insanely solid, and Blizzard is already working on a lot of the issues (valid issues, mind you) that the real fans have been asking about. Give the game time and it will far exceed the fun LoD brought to D2 back in the day.

while i dont agree with people that want refund etc, you have to realize this is blizzard we're talking here
also we have that quote from jay wilson saying: no one will remember that it's late if its great (or something along those lines) and so far IMO its late and not so great
What does it being Blizzard have to do with it? Or do you mean that people expected Blizzard to be perfect?

The best is when they still repeat the claims that Blizzard gimped the game with Inferno and the RMAH just to make money. When Blizzard keeps delaying the RMAH. If they were really doing the RMAH just for the money, they'd have launched with it. They'd also charge more fo the Authenticators.
I also like how people believe some random person no the internet who claimed they got hacked "with an authenticator" as opposed to the people who are legally responsible to tell people about that kind of thing. It's even better when it's someone who hasn't been hacked who believes it, because then they don't have the excuse that it's human nature to blaim other people for bad luck/our own mistakes.
Expectations / Obsession often relates to these disappointment.
It is could be hard to believe, but we have to realize that there are significant impact of life for a group of people who value games more than a lot of things even their health.
Some extreme number of these people often find themselves reluctant to stop playing games for more than a week without suffering from the “withdraw”.
I do agree with you mostly. Hell, I have been playing 100hours now, and at less than $1 per hour, I say it worth every cent of my money. Since you bring up this topic, I hope you understand that there are lots of people living on this planet who share a different thought. They might go extreme when it comes to things like games, not to mention this is an AAA title which they had waited for so long.
The state of mind for games is drifting from fun for "me" to play -> must be good for "me" to play. I find it is hard to change that now, a lot of people have grown into an extreme path when it comes to games that they might not even realise.
For me it was also so hard to believe that there are Barbs that are too scared to even step in Inferno ACT I. But a friend of mine is. Every time I logged on he was farming Hell ACT 3/4.
So I guess people are so different from each other, more than we can imagine.
BTW I for one enjoy this game very much, but it never bothers me to see all the criticizing here and there.
I'm really enjoying it. You'd be surprised that it's actually minority of people that are forum QQing. The WoW forums have been a flood of tears since November 2004. I think they're doing ok and it's a good game. Blizzard knows how to handle it.
Always remember that what you read on forums has at least three major biases:
1) People overwhelmingly go on forums to vent and complain, they don't often make a thread just to say "everything's fine"
2) Threads full of extreme QQ get disproportionately high responses on the forums as posters flood in to either decry or agree with the OP
3) People who like D3 have a lot of trouble finding time to STOP PLAYING IT long enough to post on forums
I'm personally farming Inferno right now, enjoying the challenges instead of trying the "newest, fastest, easiest" ways to farm gear i'm just enjoying the game. It's disheartening how many people are so critical of every minute fact in this game that they forget the joys of playing a game for a game. "Oh but its just a grind fest." Ever played a Diablo game before?
Loving this game despite all the bug, server downs and reading other people's complain.
I'm also stuck at Inferno Act 2.. Wizard here. Can't get pass the first quest with all the leaping Lacuni Huntress which two shot me.
Two Lacuni Huntress = instant death.

Yeah, that is really tough, also on Wiz most of the way thru A2. Only real advice is pop Diamond skin early and often xD
Its also funny that mostly the same that people complain and whine about the game are also the first ones to spam forums about not being able to connect. It would be ironic if it wasn't straight up stupid.
I honestly didn't expect to be having this much fun. I'm the kind of gamer that gets addicted to MMOs (Ragnarok and WoW mostly) pretty easily but my tipping point is usually 3h/day. If I do play that long, the next day I usually log less time. 2h/day makes for a steady stream of long time joy.
That has not been the case with Diablo 3. I'm sleeping much later than usual and when I get off work I'm all giddy about getting home and playing. Hope its just a phase though, my books miss me.
That there are people who genuinly enjoy Diablo 3. Its not the best game, not the worst game by far but was well worth the money for time spent to me.
I think the game is great, i have been waiting many years for the game, and i was not disappointed one bit, inferno is a challenge, Diablo 2 never gave me any real challenges except for hardcore.
To me it looks like people just wanted Diablo 2 with up to date graphics.

I am thoroughly enjoying the game, without a doubt. It's great fun!
