So i got home from work and after dinner had plans to get online with my workmates.
Got into Diablo3 to see the AH is still whiffy, no commodities still.
Played for 5 mins, only to get a Network disconnected error.
My internet was ok so i logged back in - Servers are full - you are in the queue.
So workmates arei n queue, im in queue and now their playing wow.<Sobs>
Im getting over defending the game, it IS a good game, but how long will these issues be going on for?
I know 2 guys at work who got guest passes that are not even interested any more in buying, they think its a big joke.
Im wondering now if ill get an email at midnight, with a senior blizz exec resigning and apologising for the stuff ups (anyone get that one for FF13? - was hilarious)
Anyone think the poor launch (more like abysmal really, entertainment products are not intended to be this difficult) will affect Blizzards sales of the game? It's already the lauging stock of the internet.
And im not hating, its making me sad to see such a great game have so many technical difficulty's, i havent lost hope, im being optimistic that it will be fixed soon.
It's news to me. I haven't had a disconnect since day 2 of release. I do agree that the Auction House has been a disaster though. From a company that's been running an AH for 8 years now you'd think they would be better capable of figuring things out (especially the UI). Other than that... game has been available every time I've wanted to play and except for a short stutter while playing (very, very rarely) I've run into no gameplay issues since initial release... and I do play several hours a day.
I don't blame anyone on a Guest Pass for walking away from it without buying it.
Let's see:
- 12+ hours of downtime in the first 24 hours of launch? Check.
- Consistent disconnects when the servers were actually up making it more difficult to progress? Check.
- Getting an achievement when you could play more than an hour without downtime, only for it to disappear? Check.
That's just the first couple days. I know that if I had been on a Guest Pass there's no way I'd have bought it. They just didn't have time to actually see that the game is loads of fun, pretty deep and re-playable as hell. Sad, really, but nature of the beast.
Frankly I'm a bit fed up with these AAA title releases. Last game I waited years for and picked up a midnight release was Battlefield 3, and that was a D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R. It was a shame to see the same happen with this game. This industry is taking a turn for the worse imo. I understand that these games are a huge production and they're dealing with millions of different pc configurations and internet networks, but maybe they could of rolled back some of the art production on Mojos and supported some of the more core functionality of this product.
I wont be buying any expansions until the same level of polish seen in the art direction is apparent in core elements like UI design, AH, item balancing, mega hp 1 shot mode (inferno difficulty).

Disagree with you there. Sure, there were issues at the beginning. But we are talking about now, 2 weeks later. No more issues. If i didnt have the game, and was given a guest pass, I would absolutely purchase.

I agree. I was only going on the point he made about the abysmal launch. It's been super smooth for me for at least 9 or 10 days now.
Maint started in US at 3 am Pacific (10 am GMT), and is over approx 11 am Pacific (6 PM GMT) (I know, if you look at a chart, PST --> GMT is 8 hours, but, right now it's PDT, so it's only 7)
Patch going in, etc. Probably won't be like this every Tuesday.
And people whining about the launch need to get over it, and either quit the game or quit whining about it. They sold the first year's projected sales in the first 24 hours. So yeah, they had some issues. I have been absolutely rock solid (2 disconnects. Only two.) since the second day.
The AH has been rocky, yes, but, again, they sold way more than projected, and doing a region-wide AH is harder than doing one on every realm, and, the beta wasn't nearly big enough to test an AH for millions of players at once. They'll get it worked out, and you won't see the RMAH till they do get the gold one right.
I've actually had almost no lag and maybe 3 DCs total? And I play, um, a lot... lol. I am more annoyed with the spam bots, the AH issues, and all the downtime in general. Yes, it is a new game, but it does not give Blizzard free reign permission to fail.
Yeah, unfortunately in australia, WOW/Diablo maintenance hits us in peak gametime (ie usually 8:00 pm) so thats just something we have to deal with.
I think that was the issue last night, they started maintenance and instead of getting an error saying server getting shut down in 5 mins etc, got nothing. Then the servers were all - Full bro, get in the queue, and i was all sif bro FU you suck, and my mates were all "f this, playing wow" but wow was off too. Bwahahahaha!
As for no disconnects, any you guys in Australia? Id love to know, because i know my brother complains of disconnects as well, plus the guys at work also have disconnects and MAD lag spikes, but it is early days still.
As long as the maintenance window shrinks for diablo ill be happy, i thought i read somewhere that diablo maintenance would not always be every week, and usually only a quick one unless there was a hotfix, same as SC2.

i'm getting really sick of seeing all these completely idiotic posts about how the game is a "failure" or some dumb shit.
go outside.
