I played diablo 1 and 2 religiously, delving into the story and game play with the passion of a zealot. After playing d3 with the same passion...this is game feeling completely unfinished.
The story and campaign mode are a blast. The execution of this leaves MUCH to be desired.
- This game has very little shelf live. Especially for $60 USD. Level 60 cap. I've already maxed my character THREE DAYS after the game came out. It took weeks to level in D2 and thats something I greatly enjoyed. You're hard work showed when you were the ONLY level 99 out of your friends.
-Blizzard said it would takes MONTHS to get to inferno. Many people, including myself, have beaten most of it.
-The auction house is COMPLETELY messed up. I've spent gold an received no items multiple times.
-Your character HAS to use certain skills or you will die. The monk only HAS to go healing or you wont survive inferno.
I could keep going, but this is just stressing me out. Diablo 2 changed my childhood, epic story, epic game play.....This game just does not hold up.
I feel like if blizzard opened up a bigger beta, these issues and many others could have been resolved BEFORE the game was released. Blizzard severely underestimated ( or just ignored) it's gaming community.
Love the game play. But this game just isnt "polished" enough.
I wouldn't say unfinished. I would say unbalanced. It many, many forms.
1.) Champion/Elites are harder than Bosses (Belial, Azmodan, etc)
2.) Auction House is dramatically effecting character progression. Items Lvl 50 are selling for 10-12k and are instant upgrades. No need to farm gear just go to the AH.
3.) No real difference between Magical and Rare items.
I think the biggest problem is the Auction House - I have no idea how to fix it or balance it. But it's fucked up. And I'm not even talking the bugs.

1) Intended, as stated multiple times, as that's where the best gear comes from.
3) Rare has a lot more potential.
2) I don't really see how this is a problem. If you want to farm gear without using the AH you can, if you want to use the AH you can. It's not like people force you to use the AH.
1 - The AH's interface is shit and it just feels squashy. I'm not talking about latency for sending requests to the server. I'm talking about clicking the different dropdowns and such. It's just not snappy enough. I hate it. But meh, at least we have one, right?
2 - Champions are supposed to be harder. They have random abilities that are hard to deal with. They also drop the most/best gear. These are the premise of loot farming. Bosses have the exact same abilities and mechanics every run. It's only going to get easier with them.
3 - We're freakishly infatuated with D3. Of course we beat it in a week. ALSO, this is not an MMO people. You can beat a boss solo, so wtf did you expect? No one can beat Deathwing solo; it takes a GROUP of people ALL well-geared and playing well to do that which takes MUCH TIME. See the difference? Diablo is Whack-A-Mole with blood, gore, and demonic denizens skinned over. You can only get so deep with this type of play and control.
4 - The fact it took you so long to progress in D2 and you apparently totally facerolled D3 doesn't mean it's bad. Maybe you changed? Maybe your gaming skills got better, bruh? Maybe your expansive gaming knowledge and experience coming back to a Diablo game just doesn't measure up?
5 - As someone mentioned, the loot tables are littered with Legendaries for ALL LEVELS AND ALL DIFFICULTIES. Because you haven't found one yet doesn't mean it was a bad idea. Just because the yellows you are wearing have better stats than the Legendaries you've seen so far doesn't mean the game is ruined. It means you need to read more, farm more, search the AH more, and QQ less.
dam so many fanboy here its even worse then battle.net..
i agree with op. this game has nothing to offer really as for replayability. just in a week almost everything was accomplish.. and the AH is killing the game it self..
and even worse when someone gives a valid argument or theyr point of view ..fanboys come raging.."Whiners this whiners that blah blah" oh please.

Champions are suposed to be the hardest, this lessens bots, and makes finding gear actually hard, not finding gear because you can memorize me mechanics.
There is nothing wrong with the AH. It's completely player drive , if you hate it nerd rage at other players.
This whole discussion reeks of "We need a Diablo MMO" and I gladly +1 that. And by "Diablo MMO" I am referring to the blood, the gore, the demons and angels, etc. I'm not talking about the simplistic control system that Diablo has always been. That would just have to go, and the entire game mechanics, skills, etc. would have to be completely reworked for an MMO platform. But yeah, Diablo MMO I think would solve all of these grievances.
As I stated in my original post, if blizz just opened a longer/larger beta these issues could have been addressed. I love the game, and most of the mechanics. I just hate how unfinished it feels.
It took weeks to level in D2 and thats something I greatly enjoyed. You're hard work showed when you were the ONLY level 99 out of your friends.
lolol. It took a single dedicated night and maybe another 2 hours the next day to "level" is d2. By level I mean get high enough to wear all your toons end game gear, 75-85 range. Hitting 99 is pointless and by no standard a core part of the game.
99 is there so autistic children have a repetative motion to occupy their time. But good job beating your friends with your "hard work" aka no working job at all.

So many ignorant trolls out tonight. -__- sigh.
I'm sorry but if you don't think that the last 29 levels of D2 were totaly useless, you never played D2 before any of the recent patches. You played a matured game that had many years of balancing, patches, etc.
P.S: Just because some one doesn't agree with you, doesn't make them a troll. Please get over yourself.
All the people who dismiss valid criticisms as whiners are getting old as well. There's a difference between whining, and making a valid argument.
Most of the peope giving legitimate criticism aren't saying that Diablo 3 is an awful game. It's not. I would still buy this game in any scenario.
The problem is that these people know that they won't enjoy playing it in 12 months. And I get the feeling that the people calling everyone whiners are the type of people who only wanted to play this game for a couple months at the most... as in, the people that Blizzard has designed this game for, much more than D2.
And saying that D2 was over once you hit level 80 seems like an obvious troll. Most people who played the game long term clearly didn't approach it like that.

Strong counterpoint! You've completely opened my eyes to why hitting 99 was super significant and clearly the only reason people even played the game.... oh wait.
Blizzards greed made Diablo III a failure in my eyes.
I've said it long time ago, that AH will make this game boring and that it will make me quit it very soon... And I was right.
Instead of slowly progressing through the content, because I'm being limited by the gear available - all I've done was buying stuff on AH and voila... Game is easy again. I've stopped farming equipment - I've started farming gold to buy stuff on AH. /fail
So, I'm half way through Inferno with some of the gear better than legendaries and I have very little incentive or motivation to play more.
The game is good, but its alot that could been worked on/Better, i give it 6-7/10, the game has potential, but some choiches have been made wrong and it feels like the story of the game could be better than it is in Diablo 3, i loved the D1/D2 story, but this is not really if you think of it, keeping up to Diablo 2 story (Thats what i think).
I hope they learn something from this game to do Diablo 4 better. If you really really think about it while playing (I assume you should have played D1/D2) then you feel it too. Its many small things that should be worked on.
*Uniques/Legendaries are not better than Rares/Magic (And even there, its not big of a difference between those two, we should need bigger difference between item groups (This is how it was in D2 at launch)
*I Dont know if its better to have good item drops on the Champion pack or Bosses. However, i feel they should think more about this and work on it. (Champion packs make you work for loot, instead of farming predictable bosses in the same spot)
*Should have strived a bit more for "Hardcore" players than casuals (You don't strive for one or the other, you strive for both(
*Feels like the game does not gonna have the long playing period as Diablo 2 has/had (Diablo 2 only became long running after MANY patches)
* I was afraid of that i would miss the skilltree in Diablo 2, and i think i start to do it. I Want to be free and choose those skills i want to have at my best, and really feel that i have spent alot of work to get it, and not just to be able to respec how often as you want. Short said, i miss how the Diablo 2 style with skill was. This said, i don't want the game as Diablo 2 was exactly (It's not "Free" as you put it, you don't have access to many skills if you want a viable build, D2 forced you to cherry pick way too much.)
*I must say that i really love the Auction house, must be one of the better things they implented. Even though its very buggy now, i like it. (Auction house helped increase the availability of items for people, which is both a good and a bad thing, it's nice to get more items, but it helps people get geared a little TOO fast.)
Anything I didn't reply to I agree with on the most part.

So you don't like the feature, but you are still using it even though you knew full well it would ruin your gaming experience?
Can we just hold on on this "we have all already beaten inferno" and "we all have maxed loot" ?!?
Both of these statements are completely FALSE. People with no lives have beaten inferno true.... but by beaten I mean they avoided any truly HARD packs of monsters, rushed most of the level just to kill the bosses... Id hardly call that beating inferno but whatever, they can pat themselves on their back.
Secondly I dont think ANYONE has the best loot possible, if you don't believe me go back and look at the stats on the Barbarian from that 'barb intro' video they released earlier, yeh i doubt anybody has gear like that.
The only issue is the auction house and
As for the auction house it is operating as expected. Everyone got gear they thought was "good" and instantly put it up for 1mil to 2mil gold... these people are rooks aint not enough people got that much gold to spend freely yet. id be willing to bet you in the next few weeks the auction house starts to settle down to something we can all enjoy: very good items selling for alot, mediocre items selling for affordable prices
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Blizzard used to care about releasing Diablo III, then they all took an arrow in the knee...

Same thing you do in every Diablo game, farm gear?
This was a fucking stupid thing to ask.
I guess I should have stoped playing Diablo 2 after I killed Baal @ lvl 70, since the other 99 levels are just filler and I've seen everything, right?
Most you people probably haven't been act 3+ Inferno, you just watch people stream it and bitch about how easy it is.
You must have only played after they bumped up the requirements for higher levels.
Back in the day you could get rushed and hit 95 in a day doing Cows.
*edit*
And of course create new ones, too!
