I've never had an authenticator. Don't understand how people manage to get hacked.
I got one a couple years back, but until I did I had this same attitude. At the time I was hacked (it was my WoW account), my subscription was canceled/inactive, and I had never given the password (which was unique and not shared with any of my other accounts) to any living person in any form. I still don't understand how it happened, but I've not had any more problems since I attached an authenticator.

i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame.

What? It's very simple. Get a keylogger on your account, and every key you type in is saved and sent to the hacker. He uses your email and pass and gets into your account. If you have an authenticator, since the number is generated randomly to that specific authenticator you bought, there's no way he can know the number unless he physically has it.
It's ok, you'll get hacked and then be like 'whoa wtf shoulda bought one for 3 bucks'.
HAHAHAHHAHAHA losing all your gold to an asian farmer ha ha ha thats what you get for trying to buy gold
