Okay so the title was just made up (duh), But it brings up the issue of spoilers
Sadly this happens for almost all games. However, there are people that do want to know this kind of information and these things will be coming left and right come may 14th (possibly sooner depending on what kind of leaks get thrown out).
the key point to this, is that this applies to the news as well. Obviously as movies are posted (may 14th from other regions) we will want to post those up right away (with an obvious SPOILER and such) but how long before the lack of said spoiler warning is in the 'ok'
Also,on the forum side, we will of course be keeping a massive lookout for these, but please if you see anything that looks like its about to be a spoiler, please please feel free to hit the report button (even if you didnt read the full post)
Obviously don't just go reporting everything all crazy like, but if from the title, or even from the text it starts like "So there was a leak where....." "Just found out that Cain ....." ...ect feel free to stop reading so you don't spoil yourself, and we will check it out for you (and put it in a spoiler tag, or add spoil to the title..w/e)!
Honestly 1 to 2 weeks seems like the sweet spot , but vote away (as what I think is good, others may not agree).
If you guys have any fears or concerns about spoilers post away.
NOTE: Im asking this to get a basic idea of what you all think before I decide on a time, as your thoughts are important!
Adding the "SPOILER" tag to the beginning of the title would be a big help. Can't count the number of spoiler titles ive read that have (possibly spoiler) 10 words deep, kinda too late at that point.

haha, very true! BUT titles shouldn't have any spoiler in them (As in, the content of the title shouldn't be the spoiler itself, just a basic subject that wont spoil anything) so it shouldn't matter where it goes
[But yes, I know the threads you mean! def report anything like that and we will change it up for you]
I would vote about 3 weeks, although if the spoilers are already all around the net then theres little point in enforcing rules on them
yeah, which is why I was thinking 1 week was good, most people that bought it day one will have seen all there is of story by then, and the info will be all around.
But I mean its not hard to write "spoiler" at the top of a news article that has it, so dosnt hurt to see what people want

I think 1 week is pushing it. Not everyone is going to be playing the game every waking moment for the first week. A lot of people will be playing the game with friends/slowly so it might take 3-4 weeks, depending on various circumstances.

Yeah I agree some will play slower, but I just dont see normal mode (which has all of the story) taking more than 2 weeks.
BUT once again, thats why its a poll.
I just dont wan't people yelling at me when I don't put a spoiler warning on the front page =P
and its 2 am here, so im heading off, ill reply to anything in the monring
2 weeks seems reasonable.
1 week feels a bit short (lot of reasons why you may not have much time in a single week) and I doubt there will be many people ON THIS FORUM still not through the game after 2 weeks.
I think the issue lies more along the lines of "How deep into the game should a story spoiler be witheld?"
I'd say 2 days per act. I voted 1 week because that's about 8 days, which fits the 2 days per act ratio.
Anymore and it stifles the excitement of those who have played the game. Assuming I'm not playing the game, I'm not going to withhold talking about the game on one of its major fansites. I will definitely put **SPOILER** in the title of any thread I start, and use the spoiler box in a reply.
Yes, I understand that some people can't play as much or as often as others due to other responsibilities. However, if someone is afraid of being surprised by spoilers, they shouldn't be hanging out on a fansite about the game.
r/diablo has a system where if you label a title of a post with spoiler then the rest of the title is blank until you mouse over it. not sure how it works or if it can be implemented here, but it seems like a pretty good way to go.
I can assure you it's page 431 second paragraph line 19. The third paragraph only has three lines.
Oh, and I think even one week is too much, 5 days is enough. Kind of silly that 'news' has to suffer inconvenience because of those few who don't finish the story by then. And if your too 'busy' too be playing during the first weekdays then you should be too 'busy' to be hanging around fansites in the first place.
I voted a month, since there's always those people who are either really slow or maybe are unable to play immediately for whatever reason. For the rest of us, we can just click through spoiler tags. No sense in ruining the story for people who have inconvenient schedules.
I'm actually interesting in seeing when Blizzard themselves will post spoilers to their front page. Being realistic, most of the game will probably be "spoiled" by social networking and other simple word of mouth to Diablo fans within the first week or so. It's like thinking a child will make it to age 15 without ever hearing the F-word.
Personally I voted 1 week, and I do believe most people who are "hardcore" enough to hang out on these forums will have beaten in within that timeframe. If you, for some reason, don't beat normal during the first week, I believe that would be due to you not having enough time on your hands to do so. And if you don't have enough time to do so, you probably don't have the time (and the urge) to check Diablofans either?
Voted for 1 week. Yet I think that may be too much. I think the options should be reviewed and possibly changed to 24 Hours, 48 Hours, 72 Hours.
I understand people not wanting the game spoiled for them and it's totally OK for a person to feel that way. Yet it's not the communities responsibility to make sure the game remains unspoiled for the small majority that feel that way. I personally believe it is the individuals responsibility to avoid any fan sites until they are satisfied with their in game experience.
Possibly spoilers could emerge before the game even launches, and soon as they do they will be all over the internet. It's just wise to avoid the internet, it's unrealistic to expect it not be just for you. I just think it's unfair that everyone has to watch what they say on the forums when everyone is going to be so excited. So yeah 1 week, sorry for the mini rant.

The bolded parts are 100% true, if you don't want the story spoiled then i suggest come may 14th you quit browsing the internet until you've played the game yourself. If I have time I will be talking about it and I SHOULD NOT have to use spoiler tags (its nice if I do and I usually do that) BUT... yes there is always a BUT!
Come release it is going to be ALL OVER THE INTERNET! No one can stop it, it is what it is. Take responsibility for protecting what you want to find out for yourself and not rely on others to do it for you, as they also SHOULD NOT have to...

If someone tells me how X dies or how deus-ex-machina Y resolves the story's conflict I smile and pretend I'm a little retarded. Problem solved.
