After playing a good amount of LoL, when I played the D3 beta, I felt the Primary Skill lacked some responsiveness.
When you left-click on a monster and you start attacking, you commit yourself completely and you can't run away to cancel your attack. It was especially noticeable on the barb because of his slower attack speed, compared to the monk.
I guess they did this because it's a skill now, and it generates ressources.
But it was a little bit annoying.
I wonder if it will be a problem in Inferno... or even Hell.
I was having a little bit of trouble with the demon hunter at first. I would try to attack from afar, but would often click the ground beside the monster and start walking towards them instead of attacking. I fixed this by mapping the force attack button to alt so my thumb could easily hold it down whenever I was attacking something.
I donno how the barb mechanics work but with the monk I would do the same thing; hold down alt to force attack. It just feels better and more controlled. Also be conscious of your trigger finger. Its easy to get excited and click too many times which may trigger a combo and lock you in place until the combo is done...
EDIT: wait, I just reread your question. I dont think thats true. Im pretty sure if you click on a monster you can cancel the attack command by clicking somewhere else...
To clarify, the OP means that once the attack animation starts, you can't walk away in mid swing if you suddenly realize you are in trouble.
I'm guessing this is intentional. Personally, it didn't bother me at all. I can see why it's useful in a game like LoL, but I don't think you really need it in Diablo. I guess we'll have to wait for Inferno and see.

It is. Somewhere, I believe Jay said they don't like the idea of players being able to dodge melee attacks through skill. They had that in there at one point, and the internal testers were saying it wasn't much fun, because they had to focus on that, and not the rest of the game. Basically, they want your character to do the work, not you.
well, you still have to focus on that since you can't interrupt your attack, you need to think if it's worth swinging one more time or step back. Because if you start swinging, you won't be able to dodge any incoming attacks during this time.
I don't mind the fact it's a bit harder because of that, but it was annoying to have this sluggish feeling.

Not sure if you know (not trying to be a douche here) but you can hold shift and your character won't move. I use this for my DH all the time, so I can spam shots (while sometimes hitting the ground instead of an enemy) and not moving.

yeah. like i said I remapped the force attack button to alt because i find it super awkward to hold down shift.
If you dislike having a long attack and not being able to escape when you want to, I would suggest going for the fastest weapons as possible, even as a barb. I don't find it too bad myself though, because one attack even with a slow weapon doesn't take a lot of time, and if you are low on health you probably shouldn't be continuing to attack when you know about your attack speed.
P.S. It is nothing compared to the commitment you have to make when using a zealot paladin in diablo 2. If you decided to make that one more cast of zeal on a monster when injured, you are gonna have a bad time surviving through your 5 hits.
I mapped the stand still button to Space and it's the best imo. The thumb rests naturally there when the fingers are at 1-4.
yea space is the best, as a demon hunter ill be using this alot to micro. also in the options menu you can rebind your keys and not be stuck using 1-4. rebinding your skils to qwer will feel alot more natural and not so much of a stretch. witch will help in those long gaming sessions.
if you havent seen it yet, krippirrian goes over what he think are the optiaml settings.

Does anyone else feel like this?
