Gonna be awesome when these people realize its going to take more than a few days to actually GET to inferno, let alone beat it...
Hence why they've said 4 weeks, the game comes out in 2. 2 weeks to beat the game and go through inferno, challenging but he has the stones to do it!

Bashiok - Blizzard Representative - 08/01/2011 -"So how many skill combinations are there now? Well taking into account 6 active skills, all the rune combinations, and 3 passives we currently expect each class to have roughly 2,285,814,795,264 different build combinations."
"Hey, I thought you'd like the witty irony of grub-on-glowie violence!"
I'll bet that NOT A SINGLE PLAYER WOLDWIDE will have beaten inferno before the 1st of august.
Yes, I'm serious.
From whatever I read and considering that even SK on normal takes a BIT of skill - considering you still can beat him completely naked, because normal is basically story mode, I don't see anyone beating inferno for the next 11 weeks which it is when it's 1st of august.
Let's see, we have this sizable well known game company with many employs which of many also has prior experiences in the gaming industry before joining Blizzard. So we have this large number of people who are enthusiastic about gaming enough to work in the industry and of them, not a single one of them is a pro gamer?
Sure, I 'totally' find that believable.
Oh yeah, on the side, the ultimate measure of quality gaming is based on how much of a challenge the game provides to me because being a challenge is the only quality that matters and I am so pro that game companies will be hard pressed to provide even a remote resemblance of a challenge to me.
Anyone who says else is part of the 'ignorant mass' because I'm smarter and better than everyone else
Makes me think just how low does one's self esteem has to be to cling so desperately on to their E-peen in games?
I like the part where you said you used theorycrafting and numbercrunching to come to the conclusion that the WD is the best choice.
I have to ask, which numbers?
the skill calculator numbers. herpderp. what other numbers would you use? its the perfect system to theorycraft and number crunch because EVERYTHING is based on weapon damage %.
Well, you have everything, but you still have nothing. You don't know about the HP of monsters, their armor, resistance rates, diminishing returns on CC, their affixes/suffixes, you don't know the attack speed of the skills, you don't know item suffixes/affixes, so all you have to base your "theorycrafting" on is weapon damage coefficients, and all you know the weapons is their raw dps.
I reiterate, which numbers?
This.
All you have done is make a couple of builds in a vacuumm.
My job is Photomanipulation and try never give due dates or even costs without looking at the pic i'll work with first. Sometime i have to do it because of customer requirements and there is always some sort of surprise and i rarely meet deadlines when that happens.
This topic is soo much lolz.
Just a note: In the Beta zombie dogs died so fast against SK's whirlwind, that they barely made any difference, and SK still teleported on me, when they were up. Take this into consideration on your "mad" quest of immortality.
I personally expect inferno to be beaten by Athene (or someone like him and his team) around 1-1,5 month after release, and 3 by "normal" people.

Exactly, there is not enough information to do any meaningful theory crafting, anyone who says otherwise, doesnt actually understand math very well.
Exactly, there is not enough information to do any meaningful theory crafting, anyone who says otherwise, doesnt actually understand math very well.
There is plenty of information....you might be too dumb to understand it, but its most certainly there.
Well, you have everything, but you still have nothing.
We have everything we need for the most part.
You don't know about the HP of monsters
Irrelevant, that will change drastically between mob, act, and difficulty. Its not needed in any real way, unless you just want to try to figure out the most efficient way to kill certain mobs in a certain area.
, their armor, resistance rates
Resistance rates? Whats that, lol!
Again completely irreverent. No one is going to go around remembering the HP/Armor/Resistances of every monster they run across. Also assuming you are dealing with the same type of dmg, then the only relevant measurement is %wpn dmg anyways.
, diminishing returns on CC, their affixes/suffixes
This might indeed change the value of some skills, but it likely won't make or break most builds.
Haven't we already seen most of the champion's specials?
, you don't know the attack speed of the skills,
I would imagine this would change wildly between mobs, and it seems rather irrelevant anyways.
so all you have to base your "theorycrafting" on is weapon damage coefficients, and all you know the weapons is their raw dps.
No, we can clearly see the attack speed and dmg range of weapons.
We know gear affixes.
We also know the resource cost.
We also have a lot of experience in D2, and the D3 beta.
We also know some basic equations of this type of game, like dmg reduction, or attack speed.
We know what all the skills do, and we know all their %wpn dmg.
% wpn dmg is universal between all skills, thus its pretty easy to do a comparison either directly or within specific builds.

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!

Thank you for proving my point!!!!! Half of your post if filled with 'WRONG' and the other half is a 'GUESS'. I love how you say resistances of mobs dont matter. That was pretty funny, or how you say you have seen all champion specials when blizzard has specifically said you have not even seen anything CLOSE to what these monsters are capable of.
So your saying, that since you understand how weapon damage will work, you can theroy craft around things you have never seen or heard of? LoL!!!!! Nice one, you must be a Math Major working on your PHD.
Also if I don't get banned by then I plan on making a thread and updating it daily with the progress of where I am. If I fail, whatever I still had fun ha. If I succeed then again, whatever I did what I said I would and could do. Life moves on.
I guarantee you don't make this thread. You'll probably disappear from these forums promptly upon release.
they've said that the get to the point were internal testing said digiculty was ok and then doubled that number.
They've also said that the beta was easy because its the tutorial part of the game, but it turned up too easy for a tutorial and raised the difficulty.
And no, that doesnt mean the rest of the game suffer from the same game, they [have specifically] said its was a problem about making the tutorial too easy. It could be extraolated that it was a problem with the whole game, but its not a certainty from that argument.
- OP doesn't know how hard it is, so there's no way to make the claim. He could hit a wall within 2 weeks and be stuck.
- On the other hand, those that reply have no clue if it's possible or not, so claiming he can't do it is equally impossible.
Many things are not known.
One thing is known though: when (may be in 2 weeks may be in 2 months, we don't know) some insane players start beating inferno...the OP won't be among them.
Personally I believe Inferno will be crazy hard. I will make a few points for this;
• Diablo as we see it is supposed to be a hard game. We've craved it, we've raved about it and we demand it.
• Blizzard sees the difficulties as different challenges for different demographics.
• They have by no means said that everyone will clear harder difficulties
• Normal is enough to see content
• Internal beta testers couldn't clear Inferno (controversial, I know, but that's beside the point)
• They have warned us several times that it will be hard
• Inferno was never tuned to be done on Hardcore
They know that they now have the opportunity to create something truly difficult, whether it is "gated" through gear requirement or by simply being very, very hard can be discussed. It probably is a large combination of both. Because they have no form of obligation to give you an Inferno clear, they can make it as difficult as they can and then some more. I believe that is what they have done here.
A lot of us look at World of Warcraft to "determine" how hard Diablo 3 will be, and this is something that just clearly won't work. In WoW, they want the majority of their raiding playerbase to see the content and to clear it on normal. Hardmodes are there for the elite players, but after a while they weaken it piece by piece so that those a few steps lower on the ladder can clear it aswell. Whether or not you like it is irrelevant here, but my point is that they design content so that it is doable by a reasonable amount of people. People play a monthly fee to play and see the game, and if they don't give the players that they will probably become bored and quit.
They have no reason to do that in Diablo 3. Buy the game, clear Normal, you've seen it. You've completed the game. So, if you're up for a challenge, continue further and step into Nightmare. After that, you're on your own, so to speak. They have no obligation to make it doable by a certain percentage of their playerbase. They have every incentive in the book to make it very, very hard.
Well said, sir. Agree on all accounts.
I think people are taking for granted that they will have the gear necessary to make inroads into Inferno, or even Hell for that matter, without a significant amount of farming or buying on the RMAH. As we all know, farming items is not a guarantee, there is a big portion of luck involved. If you're unlucky with drops, you might be floundering in Nightmare for weeks - who knows?

Too bad small weak stones make for very poor in game equipment.
Good luck to him though! For if he is successful he will change the course of time itself! Justice will prevail!!!
But seriously, I dont honestly see the point of having a challenge like this when theres no ultimate reward other than satisfaction. Good luck to him! I personally will be going reeeaaallyy slow.

Well to be fair, self satisfaction is a really a big 'reward' for a game like diablo.
I know a lot of people who just wanted their characters to have the best gear possible for no other reason (no new challenges were added until waaaaay later) than just wanting to see their character stats go up
