I was under the assumption that there wasn't much diversion from the tier list posted around forums.
Looking at the armor in the diablo website it seems to differ from tier items. Are legendary items different that tier items? and are set gear items different that tier items?
None of these items seem to match names to the tier list armor we have been shown.
Does anyone have an answer to this? Are the tier gear the best we can hope for? or is there bigger better rewards? I really hope there's more than just the tiers.
The Tiers are just the White (normal), Blue (magical) and Yellow (rare) items. Set items (green) have their unique look and Legendary items (also orange) have their unique look as well.
edit: Also to clarify - normal, magical and rare items are mainly for leveling as they're easy to obtain. Set and Legendary items are far more rare and powerful - those are the ones we seek in the game.
Also I'm not sure what this is doing in the Hardcore forum. Moving to D3 General Discussion.
Yea blizz said there would be unique items that would make it very visable that it was a rare item i just didnt really put 2 and 2 together i don't think they released these armors on the website until recently. I know in D2 getting set items off of like first couple bosses were not amazingly better or in some cases worse than only rare items.
AND there are no 'set items' per se, the website is outdated. It was explained before that instead we will have legendary items that, when worn with certain other items will give added bonuses the way set items worked in d2.
Edit: sorry other posts came in while I was posting that... Overneathe, when did they say that Legendary sets were green again?

You have a source of Blizz saying there were no more Set items? I've never heard of this happening and was still under the impression that there are set items(green) and legendary (orange) that have unique looks

Well, to be honest I thought Sets are Legendary (orange) as well. That's what I remembered. Turns out Bnet shows them as green. Guess it'll depend on someone finding a blue post and specifying. Not me though - going to bed! ^^

So... there won't be any green items? So the full Immortal King "set" of items will actually be orange/Legendary? Can you provide the source?
Sorry, I'm the third asking about this, I didn't see the other posts :/
Well I remember getting into a discussion about it on these forums, neither side could come up with conclusive evidence for or against set items being essentially 'legendary' instead of having their own class, but this is where the idea came from - http://www.diablowiki.net/Set_Items. I 100% don't think it'll stay the same as this actually, reading over it now, because the way Bashiok says set items will be implemented sounds flimsy and out of touch with the modern d3 build (my interpretation). And let's all, even me, keep in mind that Bash's blue post is OLD (early 2011).
So in summary, :hehe:, no one knows for sure at this current stage whether there will be green 'set items' (Which would clash with the colour of lore/quest items in game at the moment) or just legendary items that act as items of a set and give bonuses as such (Which doesn't follow suit with the website's item guide). I guess we each just pick a side and say nah nah na nah nah to whomever was wrong come May 15th.
I do see Rare items competing with Legendary gear for the best slots if you get extremely lucky on the rolls.
As it should be.
Ya, was frustrating in d2 to find set items at low levels that are supposed to be awesome but quickly get replaced by the next acts blue. I hope I don't see one of these till Inferno honestly! Would be a huge Oh $%*t moment!
I really want to see the low level sets too. In D2 I had to have at least one of every set. And hopefully set items have partial set bonuses.
Even if the character you are cuurently playing might be lvl 60 and you find a piece of a lvl 20 set. No law against stashing it for the next char you are going to build.

I want to travel to exotic places, meet interesting people. And then throw spider-filled jars of pottery at them.
