I am curious as to what you guys may think about this. Do you guys want this?
It is a mode which allows you to distribute stats according to your liking. What do you guys think are the pros and cons of adding such a mode? It doesn't have to be on release, it could be added in a later patch. Is it worth it to add this mode?
Enough Strength for Enigma, dump rest in Vit... no thanks. That would also force you to remake character if you screw stats/needed other distribution for specific build, which is what they are trying to avoid.
Won't stats also be present in items? So there will still be "mindless stat spamming." And stats do different things.
+Armor for STR
+Dodge for DEX
+Life for VIT
+Resist for INT
Now, as to whether adding points to INT or DEX to a Barbarian is worth it, I don't know. Maybe spamming STR is effective. Maybe adding some DEX or INT on the side is better. I don't know.
PS. The auto-allocated points per levelup now is not confined to spamming a single stat AFAIK. Elective Mode allows this.

This is for D3, not D2. Items have no stat requirement AFAIK. And respec for stats could be made available, for a gold or time cost.
If they do this, then someone will figure out which buttons you need to press to be "the best:, and in 365 days, we will all be just doing what blizzard already is doing, and auto-picking our stats based on whats "best".
It's the same thing in the end, what is the big deal.

Nivrax is basically telling you that this is D3, not D2. Your suggestion is so 12 years ago with stat points..
I'm sorry, mods can delete this post if they really want, but I have to say this: this forum is being invaded by retards.
Let me just say this: if you're afraid of screwing up stat allocation, don't use elective mode, let Blizzard allocate stats for you.
I'm going to break my civility on these forums to tell you that you're one of the most ingorant little pissants I've seen on this forum. You spew nothing but insults and hate at people. Every time I see your avatar I know your posts are going to be condesceding personal attacks. Do you notice that no one else before you attacked the OP, they disagreed with him and gave arguments against it, even if some of them weren't well tought out. (the roundabout allusion to enigma and D2).
Elective stats would not work because it would give you a right way and a wrong way to build your character that is permanent. Blizzard does not want this, period

There is always going to be a right way to build your character whether or not this mode gets implemented. Also, this is a mode, so there is an option not to use it. For the permanence issue, a respec option could be offered with a gold and/or time cost.

I missed the part where they removed stats from D3.
