So many people who plan to play this game as if its there goal in life, whine about any little detail and blame Blizzard for ruining the future relationship they had planned with Diablo III.
I just went over the blue posts in the news by Bashiok and some of the whining is just laughable. It's just a game folks, if it means that much to you then I think you need to go and have a look at your priorities in life.
Seriously guys, now Im really curious. What the hell were you trying to do in D2 if you werent seeing which builds could make it to 99?
Entertainment. Play a game, have some fun, waste some time. Playing video games isn't serious business for everyone.
Is playing video games really serious business for anyone? I know people might turn round and say that in WoW for example you needed to play insane amounts to get anywhere until recent expansions.
I managed to get High Warlord in vanilla playing in a team where we set honour caps so you all took turns getting the rank 14 and didn't have to pvp nolife, and because we were all good we always won which made it easier. I also raided in a world top 50 guild during tbc & wotlk, I only raided 3 nights a week.
So for me everytime I read that arguement it just rings so false, aslong as you are skilled there is no need to give up all your week nights & weekends just to feel you are progressing in a game.
If you are going to spend time getting annoyed and feeling cheated, which we all feel sometimes. Atleast do it over something that really matters and not some pixels.

And btw on your wow comment. if you were really top 50 you would have taken it seriously no matter how much time you spent and the amount of forum posts on this forum tells me that you do spend quite a decent amount of time on forums (read ej or other usefull forums for wow) so you can't go all omg look at me I'm out in the wild every day enjoying it.
Serious =/= whining
While maybe DPS and Tanking roles required a lot of reading I understand, healing was pretty stright forward. You had optimum builds but it never changed the style drastically, it just made what you did more effective.
Although I get your point of view and one i'll have to accept because I agree how it could come across as double standards.
some people without jobs/school/friends/family/love? have nothing to occupy their time but to idle in front of a computer and complain.
no offense to anyone who does but seriously get out more.
Yeah, must be equally hard to grasp that just because other people have more interest/enthusiasm in something than you do, doesn't automatically mean they are a jobless social outcast or loner...or that your own opinions aren't somehow above those of others.
Not all games are good enough to have garnered such a following as Diablo has, and the fact that people have enough of an interest to care about the specifics of the next big iteration is not a bad thing, but rather reflects on how good the (at least past) games were received/designed, and what the series has come to mean to fans.
Wait till you find people who are whining and complaining about the removal of the traditional skill system.
Boy from what I read, i didnt realize people would lose their identity just because their hero would not be able to be "exactly as they want it to be."
Either way I believe we should accept the game with open arms in regards to whatever Blizzard decides to hand out.
Till the day we can create our own epic storyline with epic gameplay without screwing one thing up, i think we'd better give them a little slack.
I take gaming pretty seriously. I have 2 kids, a soon to be wife, a full time job (granted i work from home so i play on the computer a lot) and a lot of friends/family i like hanging out with. I've been gaming since i was 4 and the time i do have to still do it i take fairly seriously. It's not a bad thing I also used to play hockey in my free time and I along with many others took that seriously as well. I'm not saying complaining about every little thing is needed but there is nothing wrong with being passionate about your hobbies.
Well lots of people take this game far more seriously than I do. Can't really say they're wrong, they're just different from me.
If you think about it it's not really all that different from a workaholic. And that's pretty publicly accepted, and even regarded as "succesfull" ^^
Difference is, being a workaholic has a strong correlation with being rich. And being rich has a strong correlation with getting laid.
Hardcore gaming has the same correlations, though in negative terms.
Do we really judge eachothers hobbies by how they increase our odds with girls? o.o
They are from the UK, in the UK they use ise not ize...
I had a British law professor in Canada, getting used to her using ise, over ize took a solid month, it would drive me nuts every time that i saw it. Regardless, "ise" is correct.

"...We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; for he to-day that sheds his blood with me
shall be my brother..."
And yes, British english uses "s" in many places where American english uses "z". British english is the real deal though. Oi innit mates?
Funny how everyone uses a Dick Van Dyke, appaling Cockney accent when they talk about British, even though Britain consists of Scotland, Wales and N Ireland too..
Jus' sayin'
I'm Canadian, and Americans say "eh?" more than I do, I know that feel bro.

I WISH I had the time to make D3 my life. That would be great. But I don't have that time. Nor do I judge those that do. And neither should you.

I'm definitely in the "play for fun" group. We often get lumped with "casuals" and "bads" for w/e reason. It's just people with lousy attitudes, regardless of how much free time they have and why.
People need to learn that this sense of entitlement that leads them to complain about things they don't like about a game being developed by a company according to their own design plans is not productive. They need to realize that in no way shape or form does Blizzard need to adhere to an individual's own personal tastes. Blizzard designs a game based on what they think people want. A lot of discussion and forethought is put into these decisions and there is a large "silent majority" supporting each one that Blizzard makes.
If the game is not made the way you want, that's a shame. That's unfortunate for you. But understand that the game will still probably be fun for you, and that if you want to make games your way, you can. Go to school, learn programming languages, get a job in the industry, pay your dues, get your certifications, learn the business, and eventually you might be in a position to make those decisions, or help make them. But until then you are at the mercy of game designers, and nothing you complain and whine about is going to affect that.
The only thing that will, is your pocketbook. Don't support what you don't like, support what you do, and the majority will rule.
I always find very amusing people saying that serious playing (what the hell is that really ?) requires no life.
I was a nolife, I played with passion, thinking my builds deeply, enjoying the theory as much as the practice.
Today I have all attributes of a social guy, but I still play the same way, except I have less time (for now hahaha).
I think people are trying to hide their lack of skill behind their so-called social success.
Same here.. back in the day I'd play Final Fantasy VII and VIII for like 10-12 hours a day =] Ocarina of Time? Man, I guess I wasted at least 100 hours on that - which doesn't mean I wasn't able to graduate in a decent college and spend quality time with my friends and family.
My guess is that some people feel superior thinking they got things figured out, they wanna play Sherlock Holmes on other's people's lives and habits, and we all know how that only works in the movies stereotypes and judging, some of the biggest problems societies have nowadays.
