Oh, cool, I thought I was alone in my desire to have offline SP
Well if I could just have offline SP without consequences I'd like it too. But it won't happen because of the issues it creates.
If someone can artificially increase his ping and make tests it would be cool
I'd test it but I don't have beta access anymore. I live in California though and I never had any problems like these.
Any other takers on running the test?
Quick fix to this issue which also is more ergonomic for your hands is assigning a move as posted in this thread already. I know the "but i shouldn't have to" excuse will be presented, but honestly try playing with W bound to move key and S bound to inventory. It really speeds up everything your doing from making item pick ups more accurate (instead of accidently clicking on greys from spam clicking in mobs once you kill them) to getting into position every time to lay down those nice AOE moves.
After getting use to this method of play I have no gripes with the hit boxes.
Even Diablo 2 was a PvE game first and foremost. There may have been players who were competitive with it, but Blizzard never balanced the game for PvP. They also stated they will not be heavily balancing D3's PvP except for obvious issues.
FistOfZakarum's point is quite valid that Diablo 3 is not a competitive environment. By this I mean to say that the game will not be supported as an E-Sport and PvP is being offered as a bonus to people who wanted to have it. PvP being added in a later patch is pretty much proof that the main game is considered to be the questing co-op experience.
@FistOfZakarum and anybody else suggesting to use "force move" button: I use the "force move" button and that solve that side of the problem but that is not my issue with it.
My problem is that sometime is really difficult to attack a specific target and in some case it happened that the attack was launched toward a target which was not the one highlighted or even in a totally different direction (backwards at worst)
And since there is not a "force shooting where I'm aiming" button this is annoying.
I've asked about this on the italian b.net forums, if they give me an answer I'll report as soon as I can.
Yeah, you don't miss, (kind of feels like you can't) but to me it feels like they can't miss either.
I have found that the evasive movements that I would have used in D2 make no difference in D3. I haven't been able to dodge nearly any projectiles as they seem to hit me even when they appear to be missing by several feet. Of course, that doesn't make to much difference in beta, but it may get frustrating when the screen is full of arrows in Inferno and every arrow on the screen is unavoidably hitting you.

Along these game lines, if it appears im well out of melee range with my barb I still get hit by mobs far away. Something has to be off.
I do also agree that projectiles are quite hard to dodge, but perhaps this was intended.
Cant say i have really noticed the hitboxes issue much, sometimes i even start walking toward my target when i have missed the left click by just a bit.
I'm not an expert, but I get 30 ping in the beta, and my hitboxes are as small as can be. As stated before this is probably to accommodate for the ping so that your abilities actually hit.
@Drol: I experience the same problem when I target ashes.
With monsters it happens once in a while too, but with ashes it happens so often that "attack only" is a must have.
I jsut started lunchbreak, so I decided to log in and test this. My results do not match the first screenshots at all. Much more like the second, less dramatic looking batch. It's still enough open area that when you have enemies spread out near health globes, that there is absolutely no where you can click sometimes to walk instead of firing.
One thing I do when I want to go get a health globe is move my mouse away from the monsters (and hold the mouse button down), behind the health globe, so my character will move in that direction without hitting. Then after I get the globe I just move my mouse (without releasing the button) away from the monsters or resume attacking - whatever the case may be.
It works well for me. I have never had a problem with picking up health globes. Clicking on item names to pick them up when there are monsters around them is a lot more trickier, but that's not the topic of this discussion :).
The picture I posted and the video pikke posted are quite undeniable.
Yet many of us think the hitboxes are fine. (at least with my 220 MS)
From the looks of it, it seems like the people that are having issues are non US players playing on the US based beta servers.

I actually more often have the opposite problem, because sometimes I move instead of attacking. I wan't to have the attack button (left click) not move your character at all (only attack) and only move using the move button/key. Now I always hold shift when I use my left click skill if it is a ranged attack.

Yeah I'd have to say hitboxes that big is just poor on Blizzard's part. The hitboxes should be a bit bigger than the monster portraits, but that is just plain dumb.
I'm not worried, they'll change it eventually. They have a lot of issues to get around to, but I'm surprised they missed this one.

Diablo is not a competitive environment because PVP will never be balanced. PVE remains at the forefront so this point is moot.
I am assuming that you have never played D2.

Lot of people complains about hitboxes but no blu yet.....

you can see the "hitbox" is quite big and that the dart is shot straight at the monster, not on the side, even if I was holding down "shift".
Against single target it's not a big deal but when the screen is filled with foes it's difficult to select the one I want to attack.

You deserve it!
You must click on the head of ennemies in Inferno.
