I don't want Blizzard ever introduce lvl higher than 60. I want all lvl 60 legendary and set items to stay difficult to find and for them to be wanted forever and ever and not to be useless crap as soon they introduce new expansion with lvl 65 cap or smth. Expansions should be like in old D2, just a content and new items 60 additions where new items should be different but not superior to other items already in the game. They should just make all the best legendaries to be very difficult to get (like if you play for a year you should find one, any one not necessarily a weapon).
Do anybody know about blizzard plans regarding above for current Diablo? If you have some blue posts it would be great.
IAH, I think they even said they put the cap at 60 so they can raise it with expansion packs. This is a good thing. New levels with new areas, maybe new skills, and new, better, items.
I would hate to wait for a new expansion pack to only get a couple new areas.... and 'maybe' some new skills. I would also hate to be on the hunt for items that won't be any better.
Considering how diablo work I hope they won't raise the level cap. I don't know but I hope you won't hit 60 on nornal cause if thats the case they will have to raise the level cap later
around 20-25 if i remember well for normal, NM is 40, and hell you will have to farm a lil to get 60.
If they raise the level cap, they have to add a new difficulty level. They can't raise inferno in case people don't get the expansion. So I'm fairly sure they'll never raise the cap.
Hmm never thought of this... hope they keep it at 60, or at least make it so items from the vanilla version will still be viable in expansion, like with D2.

You can still get new skills. But regarding items imagine situation that you are grinding around and after a year you have found your lvl 60 ubber item and you are so happy when 1 day later they release an expansion and your ubber items is not ubber anymore and you have only two options now of either grinding for another year just to meet another expansion or to buy new ubbers on RAHM if you want them to stay ubber. I think it would suck, don't you ?

Yup, this actually seems quite logical! Well done.

You're right I'd rather get a new expansion with no new items at all...
What a ridiculous hypothetical situation, are you actually saying you don't want to see newer and better items in the expansion, because you don't want to have to try to earn them.

I think you gave enough reason here for Blizzard to not to rise the lvl cap. Also if they add smth like new skills they could add items which complement them so we still will like new items even if they are not powerful. This would make game even bigger, too. And as this is not WoW where ubber items always drop from high level bosses I also imagine that they won't rise difficulty lvl for Diablo 3. Unless they want sadistically drain us from real money by doing so we have to pay for ubber items as we will never be able to find them in time of new expansion. I don't think blizzard would do that as they have a better way by making items even more difficult to find making them even more precious and worth buying if somebody spear the money but they will never become worthless like most items in WoW.
They could scale inferno items to be lvl (lets say) 65 for the expansion, and increase the level cap in the base game to keep everyone on a similar page.
So, lets say that d3 lvl 60 item has 100 dex. when the expansion comes out, its lvl 65 and has 130 dex. This way all the "best" items could still be good, and they could add new items as well.
Alternatively, they could add an ability at an artisan to increase previously level 60 items' stats. There are a bunch of ways they could handle it, i'm sure it will not be a problem.

Can you even read what I wrote! Do you want to get an item which is useless as soon as you find it as it was replaced by a new $%^£& difficult to find another item from the expansion? Do you?
Personally, yes I would. I would not want a stagnant item pool across expansions.
I'll propose a hypothetical situation to you too. Would you like to find your "uber" item the first day you hit inferno. Then you have to wait an entire year to ever get new gear again. But lets say they do what you want, and introduce no new items with each expansion. Well, stinks for you. You now have nothing to do in the game after you see the new content once because you've had all the best items since day one. Do you want that?
Can you even read what I wrote! Do you want to get an item which is useless as soon as you find it as it was replaced by a new $%^£& difficult to find another item from the expansion? Do you?
Yes I read what you wrote, and pretty plainly stated I thought it was a terrible idea, based on a silly hypothetical situation and went on to say why. I'll do it again, since apparently I wasn't clear.
Why would I buy an expansion for game that is almost entirely based around itemization, if they didn't actually introduce any new itemization into the game. I don't care if the expansion comes out one day after I find some uber item, I'll just use that uber item to find me some more.
You're suggesting that they literally not add new content to an expansion, which is exactly what I would expect from an expansion.

Did you ever experience D2? (that's not a troll question, honest curiosity) They added a ton of new items in that with the expansion, yet kept level cap and difficulty the same :-) And because you didn't reach 99 by a long shot after just one playthrough of Hell it all worked out with the extra act. Personally I'm hoping for the same. Don't really see the need to go higher than 60 really.

There would be no point doing so. It would just add balancing work for them without giving anything for us. But yes, they may do it if they want as new act would extend the game time slightly so ppl who would approach inferno would have to then be around level 65. And if they kept option like that for the artisan it would be ubber as far as that option didn't cost more than like month of gameplay to gather the material.
So I agree it is a nice alternative but even now you will have to grind normal for a about 2 levels and nightmare for about 3 to feel anything secure on the higher difficulty. So new acts could reduce that grinding time instead of increasing lvl cap.
Can you even read what I wrote! Do you want to get an item which is useless as soon as you find it as it was replaced by a new $%^£& difficult to find another item from the expansion? Do you?

You don't seem catching the point here which is that you will never ever own any ubber item unless you buy it as every ubber you possibly get will be instantly rubbish as soon expansion hit the market. It may be even that you won't be able to find item you want till expansion hit and all your drool will be wasted. I don't expect you to understand as it seems you can't.

Diablo III works completely differently in this regard than Diablo II. One of the points of Diablo III is to reach the level cap because there is a viable endgame where the best loot is dropped. There was no point to reaching the level cap in Diablo II, aside from personal achievement, in Diablo III reaching the level cap is the point because that is the only way to access the endgame where you'll be doing your runs to collect gear.
It's anyone's guess how they'll handle level caps in subsequent expansions, they probably don't even have a solid idea of what it is exactly that they want to do. I really don't think you can even compare reaching level cap in Diablo III to Diablo II, as the systems surrounding the level cap are completely different. They really couldn't be more different.
I don't see why new items have to automatically mean higher character level. Again, referring to D2 here. Most LoD items were definetly better than most vanilla D2 ones, but not by such a margin as to make the vanilla ones useless, and all within the confounds of the level cap.

Fair point, they are indeed two different types. But I'm not really fussed about the level cap in itself, I just hope it doesn't make the endgame items from vanilla D3 obsolete compared to endgame items in an expansion.
