first, don't make a post with a title such as it is, since you have no evidence towards it.
second, it's only been in development for a little over 4 years, about 4 1/2. Not 8.
third, all this 'cutting and chopping' happens with EVERY game they have made. The difference is they are trying something new by letting us in slightly more with their development process. Every game they've ever made has had features proposed for it, tried out and cut. We just get to see it this time, and not *only* the finished product. And the way people like you act towards it makes me think they won't let us in again, too many people make threads like this and rage without knowing what they are talking about.
You are completely wrong, it has not only been in development for 4-4.5 years.
Jay said at last year's blizcon in an interview "when i came on as project leader 6 years ago, blah blah blah" The game was already into development when he came on as project leader. Even if it started the moment he arrived (which it didnt) it is already 6.5 years. You are completely and utterly wrong. I do not get where you people actually get 4 - 4.5 years. The game was announced 4 years ago, gameplay videos / screenshots were already shown at that time.
Blizzard always says "people won't remember the game was late, only if it sucks."
They obviously haven't heard of Duke.
+1 for this
Aside from that though, If they had released this game in December it still would of needed patching. Every game needs patching because games don't work the same way when they're played by millions of users. Even Diablo II needed patching so saying D3 won't need patching, or wouldn't have needed patching is such an ignorant statement. No game on release day has ever been 100% perfected. D3 is no different, they just tried to make it 99.9% perfected and that is a good an bad thing. Sure the game comes out with minimal bugs, refined systems and all, but it means things get cut if they aren't perfect yet, and it means long waits for their games. These are just facts that go along with their philosophy. D3 has in a sense become vaporware. What it was is not what it is anymore. Sure at its core it's a hack and slash but so much has been completely revamped from it's original state in 08 I don't really feel this is the d3 we were promised back then. While I can't provide a perspective of how it played then I'm sure others can and I'm sure it was more than enjoyable back then.
Well, most games get to be reviewed by magazines and the like when it is released. If at that point reviewers give game 7 / 10 and blame all those things blizzard didn't fix before releasing the game this game won't sell half as much as it would if they w8 and did they job right and get 9/10 / 10 review score. And you must remember that most magazines would not do another review later on after bugs are fixed by patches. So even if blizzard could fix game with patches it is not in their best interest to do so if they know they can release it as a perfect product and get 10/10. 10/10 products seems to sell even after years of being on the market as many people who never played them want to see what all the fuss was about.
So im wondering if they are so unsure about there product, chopping, changing & cutting things from it so often will it be nothing more than a flop? almost 8 years of development with delay after delay, devs telling us not to get to excited for the game, chopping content & framework from the game, i smell a big fail.
You sir are a moron, most games are in development far longer than this game is, they just chose to tell there fans that it was in development at an early stage, and like greedy parents basement dwelling morons, you take that honesty for granted. They are chopping shit from the game because of bitches like you crying and complaining about it all day long. So thy are pushing it quicker so they can get it out sooner. Wich is what makes most games flop talk to the dev's behind final fantasy xiii oh wait i mean final fantasy XIV, yea thats right XIII was the original online title but they pushed it back so the console got XIII and the online got XIV name. But i digress. The fact that people take COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS so literally cause jay wilson said it is moronic. In October you can be counting down the days till christmas ...does it mean its happening within 4 days...no.. Grow up get a life and do something outside your mommies basement for once and the game will be infront of you before you know it

Such a reply, if this is the state of the community so full of hate and spite the games better off not coming out-
why are nerds these days so angry and hatefull.. maybe its an american thing
where's this "delay after delay" thing coming from? Reading it all over. So far, Blizzard has one, maaaaybe 2 delays (if you consider Q2 a delay from early 2012).
first, don't make a post with a title such as it is, since you have no evidence towards it.

Sigh at you.
As far as actually 'developing' the game, IE working on it, they started about late 2006. They then were torn off of the project for a full year to work on SC2. This equals about 5 years more or less.
Edit: D3 was announced at the WWI later in 2008. That's a little over 3 years.
Its weird you dont trust North so much, who gave us Diablo1/2, even insult them as "a one pony show", and yet you so much trust in a new team, who are taking THAT long for... D2.5. By the devs description, North's D3 seemed better and bigger, and that was in 2005.
What? By what devs description does ANYONE say North's D3 seemed bigger and better? I don't 'distrust' North, but since I also don't work with Blizzard I'm going to side on the fact that something was wrong enough for them to be kicked out.
IMO, they stalled from their original release date of December due to not being happy with it (mainly rune system) and wanting to redesign something major without rushing. A sensible choice I think. Now, I don't consider it getting delayed further as I believe they are still aiming towards whatever secondary release date they had in mind. The one thing that is bugging me though is why they haven't told everyone what date they're aiming for if they're cutting things like mad to try and hit that date. It sounds like they intend to patch several things on (or near) release day, so in my mind they don't intend to change whatever date they've decided on.
I'm not privvy to the crazy inner workings of a computer game developing company, but I doubt they are able to push a release date back by "a few days, maybe just one more week, oops, no a few days more" to tidy up a few small things and squeeze some extra fixes and tweaks in. It also can't be particularly fun to shift a release date and everything that needs to coincide with it back two months, and aside from the internal hassle associated with a release date change, the fan lashback at it happening again will make them want to crawl under a rock until it's out.
Either way, I don't think it'll be delayed from what they're aiming for again. But as I said, if they're pushing so hard to reach whatever date they've set themselves, why not tell everyone what it is?
Because if they delay once more it's gonna be a riot.

Pretty much this. They have a solid, internal date. And for all we know just the other day they decided they could hit it 100%, and as we speak are writing up a quick web page announcement. Even if that's true, the reason they haven't told us a date yet is they want to make DAMN sure they can hit it. They have a date, are working towards it, realized some featured can't make that date and cut them.
I'm pretty sure as soon as they KNOW they can hit whatever date they've picked, they'll tell us. But it makes zero sense to tell us any sooner, if there's even the slightest chance they'll miss it, because well riots will ensue.
I guess there would an interesting response from fans if on the next monday that we expect a release date what we infact get is an official delay due to some other game mechanic there not happy with.I know its unlikely but one thing Blizzard to dont seem to be scared of is there fanbase so anything is possible.
I for 1 would join that riot
I for 1 would like to know what was so bad if they had to postpone game again. It would have to be smth really crucial like rune mechanics which if not fixed would break the game long run. I don't believe there is anything of sort left what they can't cut out

It's better if they keep us out unless they have beta and release date fixed for any game they do. What they have money for 5k employees but they forgot to employ social behavior psychologist. They are just big tarts

From everything we've seen and read so far, they are happy with all the systems. I mean hell we knew practically out of the gate that they didn't like a couple systems IE runestones, but as far as this latest build I've heard not a word on anything else they'd like to change =D
I think we can honestly say it's extremely close now. I can't imagine anything less than the apocalypse delaying it now.

Lol, yar. I think it was an experiment that they decided to test. Let us a little closer to normal and see what happens. Well, the few that understood and didn't actually rage all the time had fun, but looks like the masses just ran threads titled' OWMAGAWD BLIZZ HAZ NO IDEA HOW TO MAKE GAMEZ'.
