1st of all, thank you diablofan for the betakey, i've been playing ALOT of D3, got all classes Lv. 13, its been amazingly fun.
Now to the topic, i've been wondering, to get better gear, now that i've maxed all classes, what should my focus be ? crafting itens or trying to find good loots from enhance monster/leoric ?
Should i start gearing myself with magic find or gold find ? cuz i find so hard to get better itens than i can craft, made me wonder if its even worth pumping magic find instead of gold.
I truely hope later in the game, the drops get far better than the craft itens.
I'd go MF over GF for Beta; I'm in the same boat basically. I can get a few thousand gold over an hour just clearing crap and once you max smiting and have established 13 chars money has no purpose anymore unless you want to go on the AH in which case go GF because you’re going to need 90,000 gold for the good items.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
For the beta, I'm sure crafting and hoping for a good Heavy Axe (with bonus stats to what class you want to equip - +Int and +Dex too) is the easiest way to get a very close to the top dps.
Drops are definitely hundreds of times worse than the items you can craft (even boots, helms, shields, etc.) - the way the beta is tweaked (probably on purpose to see people using crafting and the AH) you won't see good drops for a lvl 10+ character (except rare/magic rings, magic amulets, and rare off-hand stuff for Wiz/WD).
But for release, we'll have to wait and see =/ (hopefully not too long)
hmm i think im gonna try get some gold 1st then go all in MF cuz i wanna have a reason to keep playing, and i rather kill a skeleton and expect items instead of gold.
also, something tells me the beta will end soon...in like 2 weeks - a month.
Im a big drop person, Hours of MF and finding awesome loot is all the better, then finding items and salvaging them. Crafting will be cool but u are kinda limited to some items. MF should be a huge part of diablo 3. It should be awesome and I can't wait to play it.
I think crafting is where they want people to get those items to prepare for Inferno. I only say that because in the beta the best items are the crafted items. And it is a lot easier to just keep crafting items till you get the stats you want then trying to find that lucky drop.

I don't always burn. But when I do, I use hellfire.
The reason crafting is so much better right now is because the contnt really only takes you roughly to lvl 8 give or take. Then we grind this low level to reach 13. we are limited in drops by the level of the creatures we are fighting. we are only limted in crafting by our character level. When the game is released it is unlikely that we will be grinding out levels at the early stages of them game. so we will cruise right along staying closer to the level of the creatures we are fighting and in turn receiving better drops. I also have a hunch that blizzard has dumbed down the chance of good loot droppping so people would be more likely to test the crafting system out.
Keep in mind what do you need to craft? Items made from salvaging, how are these items obtained? Finding gear, MF is more useful since gold becomes useless after a point in Beta.

Thats also because of the content. Most characters are level 8/9 when they kill the skele king. Maybe 10 if they grinded just about everything. The gear dropped is tuned to the level players should be at. I wouldn't expect to see much, "ooh this dropped, I'll be sure to use this in a few levels"
I have not been lucky enough to get a beta key but I have read a lot on this subject
If you have a lot of time to grind - go GF - use the AH - and spend all that gold to max out
However - if you do not have a lot of time to mass ridiculous hoards of gold - go full MF - and then spin the loot slot machine
in my mind it is more fun to get that drop yourself then farm gold and buy it -
but in the release version of the game - dont kid yourself - you will not get the max piece for each slot without using the AH - the odds are just wayyy to great that you will happen to find everything yourself -
take 10000000 players and those odds start to get better - the RMAH is going to be where most of us will eventually min/max from
and hopefully by selling that perfect witch doctor item you found and buying that barb itm you need - not spending your hard earned cash
From what I've seen from streams and youtube videos, the crafted items can be far and away better than drops. Personally I'd go for both ways of acquiring gear. Sometimes running something over and over for a specific drop does get tiring. And sometimes standing around in town crafting all day would definitely get a little tiresome. Plus, trying it out now will help you figure out the crafting system and get you ready for the release version of crafting. You can always make some friends and pool your crafted gear lol.
If I were playing the beta (which I am not) I would focus on the crafting because it is using more of the affixes and prefixes. This is what the game is going to rely on until you are plowing through inferno. Blizz wouldn't put this much time and effort into this just to have it useless after nightmare. Crafting will also allow you to maybe catch a rare affix that you don't typically see, lets you see more of the game

Sometimes you don't always know where you stand... until you know that you won't run away.
I am hoping to gear up my character with whatever I can find from my spoils. I am going to save up my materials as much as I possibly can and spend it when I can't resist. Also if I get lucky and find a good item plan I'm going to want to make some of those and see how they do on the AH. I'll probably just save up until the last act and gear up before the next difficulty and repeat (hoping I found a sweet crafting plan).
If I don't end up finding gear that is good enough to keep me alive then I'll be forced to continuously craft better gear just keep progression but I do think I would just backtrack and level my character up to avoid the crafting.
