Worrying about what classes you have with you will really kill your fun. I liken that to WoW raiding and raid balancing. My GM was hell bent on raid balancing instead of just having fun, at first it was okay because we did have fun, but hearing complaints of "We don't have this or that" every week is a drag. And constantly recruiting or asking people to play alts is terrible. I've always just liked people to play what they want, if everyone is having fun lack of progress and progress don't seem to matter as much.

You know what, thank you for pointing that out. I completelly over looked that. Sure having a good team to beat the game in a timely manner is fine, but if thats all your thinking about it will really drain the fun out of the game. Great point bro.
So what do you guys think about the 4 player co-op?
When I first heard that there was only going to be 4 player co-op I was kind of taken back. I thought there would be 5-10 player co-op since there are 5 classes and a male and female of each. From what I have seen on videos of the beta it really doesn't seem like you would need more then 4 players to play through the game. But it is just the beta and I'm more then sure it will get harder as you go on.

I'm quite happy with it, Diablo 2 was chaotic and required no teamwork what so ever, this might require a bit of "co-op" for a change.
We shall all find out once it's out. I'm hoping for a challenge
I want it to be 5 for the sole reason of being able to play 1 of each class with my friends.
Blizz have their reasons and i guess we have to live with them, according to most ppl iv asked in beta says its fine with only 4!
Still 5 would have been awesome =(
But then would groups feel like they need to have all five classes? I would hate to not be able to get into a group with my Monk because there's already a Monk in it.
I like 4. It's big enough to get a good group dynamic going with classes comboing off each other's skills. But it's not so big that you'll get lost in the crowd. As only 1/4 of the group, you'll play an important role in most battles.
Having been in the beta since early this month (and enjoying it almost daily I can say that 4 players is a pretty solid number. Also even with the early level, less spectacular spells and abilities, the screen can get pretty cluttered at times. Also I kind of enjoy the fact that there will never be a game with all classes in it at the same time. I can't place my finger on why I like this idea, I just do.
Let’s just ignore all the clutter and balancing issues and focus on these really important features!
Why no slot for each class? Because it’s a MMO with the need for team participation... what? Oh it’s not... hmmm....
What happens when expansions come out then will we need 6 or 7 slots then... yup that’s right totally makes sense!

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
I loved the idea: yeah, we will make it 4 co-op, but we will reward you making each class overthetop, and anyway... most of the time in d2 you were playing with 3 to 5 guys in your screen right? kinda the same thing in a numeric way ^^
Spell/ability effects cover a larger area than before so they needed to cut the numbers down otherwise it will feel like you're just fighting in a giant fireworks factory after someone dropped a lit match
I think four is a good set. Personally, I would have liked to have 5, considering my team consists of five people. However, getting all five together was quite hard so I don't see this being an issue really. Though I did find it interesting they didn't do a max of five for all five classes.
Four will keep teams more organize I think, especially for those doing random co op. In a way I'm happy with it and maybe they will increase it with a future expansion, hopefully with when they do release a new class.

I think that having 4 players co-op makes the responsibility of each player larger, thus improving individual game play. This also gives team work more meaning, as a smaller team will have to work harder, especially at higher levels. The synergy between choices made by the co-op team comes to shine with the smaller 4 players team rather than with a larger group.
Have to agree with alot of posters that say 5 would've been better, although not having tried it out doesn't give me alot of credit.
I can say however that whenever we had a full game on diablo 2 it was mostly with random people and not 8 friends together
Am sure that Blizzard has a valid reason for limiting it to four players and I can't wait for the game

Yeah, I have to agree with this and I think this is what Blizzard is aiming for in a sense. Larger teams are much more harder to organize and find that right chemistry so everyone performs at a level that would benefit the entire team, rather than hurt it. You also have a less chance of having someone go afk or just messing around, which is something I'm sure most people do not like when they're in co-op trying to complete a run.
For the larger groups that are already organized, I believe they will have to make due and divide up as this appears to be the only solution. My team of 5 for example, if we get all 5 on at once, will probably have to do a 3 man and 2 man co-op so that 5th person isn't left out to solo, unless he/she chooses to do so.
For me coop games have always been the most enjoyable, and its sad that they rarely make any games coop, or atleast good coop!
So having never played Diablo (other than some lan party where I failed horribly) I am really looking forward too a coop game I can extensively play with my friends!
The fact that it isnt 5 player doesnt bother me at all, 4 players is enough, and who knows, maybe someday it will expand!
4-player co-op is fine, IMO. The game being very visually 'loud' was not an uncommon fan complaint back in the day, and Blizzard themselves acknowledged this. Having more than four players running around and throwing skills all over the place is going to be confusing enough as it is :P.
I know if may seem like a small change to allow even 1 more slot for all 5 classes to be represented, but then what when they add expansions? What if there are 4 more classes over two expansions? I'm glad they picked 4 and stuck with it. It'd also make the game much easier to tune in terms of difficulty throughout all Acts/Difficulty levels.
I loke the thought of having one from each class play and everyone agrees that if loot drops for one class they get it (playing with friends of course)
I have always fel 4 was a number they came up with to ensure latency was not an issue - who knows - maybe they will adjust the cap after the expansion -
In my case I dont even have 4 friends who play D3. Well not RL friends anyway, not that it matters, but what I always wanted from wow was to reduce the number of retards I had to endure to an absolute minimum. If it was up to me I would run solo instances and solo raids. But sadly it wasnt. 4 is a great number because it is low enough for social pariahs as myself to fill. Even I have 3 mates I want to spend time with in D3. But 5...? Not so much.
I think anything over 4 would probably be too much. Blizzard stated before that the reason they went with 4 was because they didn't want there to be so many spells going off at the same time that it made it hard to see what was going on. Personally, I never played Diablo 2 with more than 4 people usually. Too much stuff going on. It doesn't make you feel like your character is powerful when there's 7 people all blowing up the same mob.
I think the 4 player co-op is perfect, especially seeing how demanding the game seems to be graphically with just one character playing. Especially as runeskill effects get grander and grander and we have more skill slots available to us than the 4 (I think) we can achieve in beta right now.
5 would be nice just strictly for enjoying 1 of each class in game, but seeing how enough of the classes can somewhat be interchanged without much difference, 4 is plenty.
4 is really perfect number for max players imo, maybe only 5 would be cool so that can have all classes yes, but 4 really sounds like best possible for gameplay/visual and all other aspects of the game. Cant really compare to Diablo 2 imo, coz here are special effects far greater. But we'll know for sure if it's perfect or not, once it's released and we see whole game in progress.
Four player co-op seems good. As stated before with more than 4 the graphics could/will bog down older computers. It also adds strategy to the co-op game since you will always have to sit one of the classes. The downside of course is that it will cause competition more than one person wants to play the same class. Overall I'm liking the idea of a 4 player co-op, but I'll have to actually try the game out to know for sure.
