Unfortunately, my options are limited for co-op with my friends. Due to my work schedule, I'm usually getting on when most of them are heading to bed or already asleep. I plan to play through at least once on Solo and then try to meet up (and possibly make new friends) with other people who might be in a similar stuation online. My only real hope is that I am able to find more subdued players than I had found in D2 online. It always seemed that you either had to be completely hardcore or just not bother. Maybe things will have changed a bit. Well anyway, I will see you all online when D3 hits in Q2.
I think is might be a hard one for me.. I love to play alone most of the time but I also know that better loot tends to drop more when more people enter the game so I might be forced to play more Mplayer then I want too. That being said I do want my first normal run to be by myself so i can enjoy it and not feel rushed.
I like playing solo and for the majority of normal I will but I think as you move into the harder difficultys your not going to have much of a choice but to play co op and playing as a team. Unless there is some sort of super build that you can run solo but It won't last cuse it will get nerfed. I think blizz will want people to play together why else would they have character specific drops it's cuse they don't want to discourage people because they are afraid of lossing the godly item. I'd just like to see a higher player max then 4. 4 just doesn't seem high enough to me.
There's really no reason to choose. I'm pretty sure d3 has drop in play, meaning that you just play until your friend signs on, then he joins you right where you are.
If it doesn't have that feature, it should. This is 2012, not 2001.
I have noticed that there are a lot of mix feelings between playing solo or with others. Due to real life limitators some of you are forced to play solo. Others choose to fable alone over having to playing with random people—I would do the same. There are others of you who believe that the essence of Diablo is co-op, regardless who you play with. Finally, there are those who believe that playing with friends is the cream filling of the game, and fortunately for me, I know a plethora of friends who are all fired up for D3. More than likely I will not be playing solo unless I wish not to be disturbed due to a bad day, etc.

Well I will be playing solo at first to get a feel for the game; gather items for others if I can to get them geared up. I will probably pick a class that most likely be of assistance to the group; like the monk with his group abilities.
I can't say I won't group with others, as I want to get the full experience and that's possible with others. Only bad part is hopefully finding others that I know playing it or do a random find and hope we at least have some cohesion to play effectively.
I play more multiplayer games than anything. Local co-op is actually probably my favourite way to play, or local vs.. I play online multiplayer too though. If it's on a console, I like when they offer local split screen which can also go online simultaneously. A lot of the time when I play online games, it's primarily with someone who is actually in the same house as me anyway. I do sometimes play online with friends or family who live pretty far away though too. I haven't really made any online friends in any games either because I'm usually already playing with people I know. Split screen multiplayer and LAN parties are my top choise I guess. Anyway, applying this to D3.
I'll probably play a lot of Diablo III co-op with my brother, who is my roommate, and I guess some others if they happen to join our games. He games a lot and is likely to make some in-game friends who will play with us at times. None of either of our friends game much, and certainly not PC games, so they won't be joining us. We'll probably do a rather slow, and thorough playthrough. I don't think I would play D3 solo at all if it weren't for the followers. I'd like to give them a try, but that's about my only motivation to play solo.
After reading many opinions in this thread, and discussing it with my mates who will be playing this, we decided to have dedicated co-op toons and dedicated solo play toons. So that was we can have the best of both worlds.
And because its only a small group of very good mates we have simple rules. "Keep it fun" and thats who we inted to play. In other games we often power level each other and help out with gear / equipment and so forth and for us D3 will be no different, keeping our golden rule "Keep it fun" in mind we always have a hoot.
