I'm sure others have had this distinct pleasure already, but I haven't read about it yet on the forums. An amulet dropped for me last night off a skellie in the SK's room. Amulet of Brooding. I took a screen cap of it and as soon as someone can tell me where those dissappear to on my computer, I will upload it.
I thought Amulets weren't supposed to be in the Beta?
My screenshots go to My Documents>Diablo III>Screenshots. Amulets have been in the beta as long as I can remember (if you look on the AH there's usually quite a few posted), unless you mean Charms/Talisman like Doomscream said.
At the risk of looking more like an uninformed idiot - no, I knew that the talisman and charms were out long ago when they announced it. For some reason, I thought that Amulets were as well. I've never searched for them on the AH because again, I thought they weren't in at this level. And my memory must be wacked because I thought I had seen mention in a few threads that amulets weren't around/people didn't have any.
I farmed those skeles the other night for maybe 10 runs. First I found one of the worst ammies possible (+1% Block): but only a few runs later I found what is a truly godly find: +13% MF ammy :DDD
Amulets weren't originally in the alpha / beta, but around patch 2 or 3 they added the ability for them to drop (by lowering the lowest level they can drop from).
so did they have to lower the monster or the character minimum level in order to get ammys to drop in the beta? and also what were they originally?
Drops are not dependent on character level, but on monster level. A base item has a mlvl requirement, meaning that only monsters of a certain level can drop the item. The level of the monster it dropped from also decides what stats can be found on it.
The skeletons (Returned) found in the SK room have the lowest known level that amulets can drop from. However, because they are lower level than mobs found in Act 2 for example, it will also have a lot less possible stats available to roll on it. Finding amulets later in the game won't guarantee that they are better, but it will make it possible to have improved stats on it.
To answer your question directly: If amulets were unable to drop in early beta but they can now, Blizzard has lowered the level monsters need to be in order to drop them.
that makes sense, i just didn't know if anyone had some actual numbers on what the mlvl req. for ammmys used to be. you think they did it just for the beta?
