Before the 100k invites I was pretty confident on a Feb 6 release date announcement or that week before the call, but not now tbh. It's still possible Blizz can sort the whole stress test clusterfuck out in a very short amount of time and still give us a release date that week before the conf call and still release in their behind-the-doors release window.
But this call and the week before and next week just don't seem possible for me atm.

Whereas I view this massive flow of information and progress as a huge sign that it could very well be announced next week.

Same. The fact that this can actually be called a stress test is awesome, that's an actual giant step forward =D

I know my post didn't sound like it, but I'm happy about this mass invite...at first! Now that battle.net is down after 6/7 hours. Dunno if stress testing works like this. The final stress test has finally began, but I fear that Blizz was not prepared for this much stress...
Are people still able to play even though battle.net is down or not?
You should've added to the poll whether the release date will get announced before the 9th...
I get the whole past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior thing, but besides the Starcraft II release date announcement are there usually press releases on or around the date of a conference call?

yeah, it usually does not happen on the call, unless there wasnt a date, and they just give us a time frame. But if its a date, its going to come before the call its come from a month before, or a week before, that way they can talk about OH we did this, and or going to do this" and it looks good on the call.

Actually the point of the stress test is to find out what is the MAX you can handle and not if you can handle X.
The fact that the servers crashed is a good sign because they now have a number at which the servers give out versus just knowing that the current server configuration can handle some arbitrary number of users.

Exactly! everything is going good
Then I'm just more glad I'm not in the beta. i wouldn't cope with all the lagging and server downtime to enjoy it!!
With the new 100,000 beta invites is putting the stress on the blizz server ( or servers, i don't quite know the exact setup they have in place) to see jsut how much they could take. much like the stress on launch night . The stress test was the big point for the beta, So to hear a release date before the conference call would make a bit of sense.
Date will come before the call, like Sc2, not on it, thats my guess (if we get a date)
The mass invite gets my spirits both up and down. Up because they are getting into the stress test phase. Down because I just feel it means they are a far ways away still. But if there is no announcement before the call, I am hoping they state a window in where they believe they could confirm or deny if the game is ready for release.

they wouldnt be heavy stress testing if they still had alot more work to do. FYI

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but i thought i read that they will shut down the beta a week before the release date. Not sure what the reason was, but i thought i saw a blue say that I could be delusional it is late... good night.
