thats the main reason the majority of us are getting mad. is because theyre delaying the game, to incorporate needless shit that dumbs the game down
I wouldn't call that dumbing the game down (except for the simple tooltips I guess, but as long as there is a toggle option to keep advanced ones on it's not a big deal at all).
It doesn't take smarts or skill to have scrolls to identify items. The change helps with inventory issues. Little changes like this are quality of life changes, I don't know why people get hung up on scrolls and the "stone of recall", NOTHING changed funcionality wise, it's just EASIER to do now which DOES NOT mean that it's DUMBED DOWN.
There is a huge difference between making quality of life changes and dumbing things down, HUGE difference.
The cooldown on the skills is there for a reason. It doesn't have anything to do with intelligence or skill. It's there to stop switching them in battle, that's all. That makes perfect sense.
The changes they are making now is really just removing stuff that was superfluous (stuff that they can make better and cooler for an xpac instead of half assed now). It doesn't take any less skill or less intelligence to play the game now than it did before patch 10.
Fast answer: 5 minutes efter you know the game exist. You can get mad because you have to wait more then 5 minutes.
Good answer: After 2 years in delevopment. I got mad when they said it would be online game FOREVER so that killed much of the hype, and when was that? 2009? I got tired after that. But some part of me are curious, thats why Im into searching, read about spoilers and more, after all, Im a Diablofan even if I "never" gonna play the game!
I actually had reasonable patience throughout the games development, but I think my patience finally ran out when it was a month or two into the beta and Mike Morhaime announced the delay of the game. There I sat, waiting for a beta key, as well as waiting even longer for the release. It left a bad taste in my mouth.
And I sit here still, with no beta key, getting unlucky at every beta key contest imaginable, and a release date announcement unforseeable. Patience is long gone. May marks my 6th year here at these forums.
However, I think the early moments of February will be promising in terms of release date news.
Oh, I see. It's fine to poke at Blizzard and say how bad their choices are, how buggy the D3 beta is, how terrible some of the implementation is. However, it is unacceptable to point the flaws out in Skyrim, who cares, right? The game is so brilliant all the flaws just melt away. Yeah...
I never brought up the beta, also I didn't start the topic of bugs you did. Bugs are GOING to be in the game and I accept that. The problem I'm bringing up is the lengthy development.
ALSO I believe the guards say something along the lines of:
"Oh, I'm sorry my thane. Try not to get into too much trouble, even the influence of the Jarl has its limits."
Alright, this isn't about Skyrim. The point I was trying make was this, I find it odd how you'd poke holes at Blizzard's D3 development, and yet you so readily leap to protect Skyrim when the game could have been so much better if they'd taken an extra year.
I'm not trying to dis you or Skyrim, but I might have come over a bit crass, for which I apologize if I did. I like Skyrim, it's fun. I'm just pointing out the irony in what I saw. And how that reflects on the topic that patience is a virtue, so hopefully them taking their time may be a good thing. Luckily I have a lot to occupy myself with, so I'm not really worried about when the game will be released.
I used to talk about how brilliant the devs were on D3 and love they way they handled everything from the art design to the questions they would be asked about the game. Now, I literally say "Fuck them" every time they release news on the game.
As in my "patients" is gone.
But if I just stop following it and chill for a bit the game will come out and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

But, some may claim that it's just not possible to have a line drawn. That if you do, you are lying to yourself.
I'm at my limit dude, it's not a joke. I ask for a timely release from announcement. If they wait till Q4 it will be 5 years of development(that we know of) I can only wonder how much development time is really needed. An artist can over do his work if he doesn't know when to stop. Same can apply here.
Feel like, if Diablo 3 needs 5+ years of development, then I really don't have the time and patience to devote to the game. Hell, SWTOR took less time then D3, WoW took less time then D3, most games take less time then D3. The only game on par with D3 right now is Duke Nukem Forever, and we all seen how that played out.
*Patience ends when a company has overstepped the boundary of reasonable development cycle, release information and particularly when they do both.
This game has doubled, perhaps tripled the normal, reasonable development cycle of a game. Particularly considering this game is being developed by the most succesful, resource-laden video game production company in the history of mankind. Particularly considering the last installment of this game came over a decade ago.
I was in jr. high when this game's precessor came out. I'm now a full grown man with a family, a college degree, a job, etc. That's a considerable % of my, or any other person's life to wait for a game. You can't tell me that I still need to be patient. You can't tell me that considering how many major, succesful titles have come out, and were produced from start to finish in between this game's start of development and now, much less when it will be released in the unfortellable future.
Patience? When Bethesda can give me a release date for Skyrim, almost a year in advance, and stick to it, I should think a company like Blizzard could match that standard. They, and fanbois of this and other forums, love to tout Blizzard's standards of excellence. Yes they make awesome games, but excuse me, in the real world of business the ability to plan ahead and set and meet deadlines is one of, if not the most important standard of all. "When it's done" wouldn't fly in any other business, period. They get away with it because they can, but that doesn't make it good business, logical, or anything else, so please stop praising them for it because I'm so sick of your ignorance.
My patience for them, particularly Jay Wilson and his Community Managers has long since run out. I don't eat bullshit and call it a cookie, I call it what it is. I'll buy their game (or more specifically I've already paid for it via the WoW Year Subscription), but that doesn't mean I have to like, or respect them.

^ This seems like a reasonable alternative to my rant about when to lose your patience.
P.S. don't feel bad about the beta key thing, it won't help with the patience thing, trust me.
The game has only got "delayed" once...and that delay wasn't even a real delay. Early 2012 is still on, it's the first month of the year for goodness sake...
BUHAAHAHHAHHAahhahahahahahahahahha
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...seriously, why the laugh about "first month"?
Also, Skyrim is one big fixed sandbox, and there's not really anything different after playing again after doin 98% of all the quests and exploring the whole map. So for me no real replayability, unless you divide the map up in 6 equal parts and play each with one character. The only real replayability is the fact that you can join either the Stormcloaks or Imperial Legion (there's probably more, but can't think of it.)
Well, after You clear Dungeon, it will refresh with new items in it. For me it is kinda Diablo games, because it is. You can clear same cave x times and You will find new generated items. Farming for stats etc. Beside there are also mods to expand the whole experience with the game.
I suppose you're right, but the dungeon layout is still the same. I honestly didn't like going back to a cave for a quest after I've already cleared it...just personal taste.
Besides to OP: So now you bought MW3, it was 2 years in development, with 2 to 3 dev. teams on it (Infinity Ward, Slegdehammer Games and Raven software) and even after these 2 years it's a 2 - 3 hours single player campaign with a poorly written plot.. The multiplayer is filled with bugs and glitches and there is a big lack weapon balance.. Black ops (which was made by threyarch) is all the same, had 2 years of development time, and was FAR, FAR, FAR from good enough to be released..
That's why I don't buy games anymore, it's just not worth the money. Short single player campaigns, no replayability. I guess if you like multiplayer, it wouldn't be so bad...
Well, I'm kinda mad right now. So I guess it's ok for you to bee too
JK. But even being mad you won't see me posting angry comments about how I'm not buying the game anymore or how Blizzard has ruined the one love of my life, or how Activision is the devil that's ruining the one true hardcore gaming company that makes perfect games, or something along those lines.
I guess it's human nature to sometimes overreact when we like something quite a lot (and I guess we all like Diablo, since we're herre), and it takes quite an effort (at least for some) to hold those feelings back.
It's the same thing for those to overreact to the overreaction, by saying that Blizzard doesn't own anything to them or that they're angry annoying impatiant little kids yadda yadda yadda.. I mean, com'on, let people be themselves =]
It must be frustrating as a developer to "fix" alot when people are telling them NOT to (give us the game already-type of argument).
But once its out, people will enjoy MORE of it.
Releasedate or not, I can "wait". I have other stuff to do and not the money to pay the CE this or next month anyways.
An arrow to the knee is so much more dangerous than an arrow to the neck or head.
Blizzard should add tactical knee attacks to Diablo 3.
Patch 11: New Demon Hunter Skill:
In-Cap-Acitate- Fires a hail of arrows at the knee caps of target, for 200% weapon damage.
Of course, but slashing away at a Khajiit's tail is even more dangerous than an arrow to the knee.
(haha) My patience will literally end the day when Blizz announce the release date, no matter the release date.
This thread used to be about diablo3, but then it took an arrow to the knee.
Just had to do it, sorry

Ha! That pretty much made all the time I've wasted on the internet tonight worth it. Yeh, I'm easliy amused.
argh, if you're going to quote skyrim quote it right =D It's 'but then i took an arrow in the knee' not 'to' ! nerdrage
