Dunno if this has been answered before... Can we expect content patches like wow to progress the story or will we be playing the same thing over and over for 2+ years as we wait for an expansion? Personally I dont see content patches like wow working well for this game as the story is very focused around very few individuals unlike WoW who has a world full of characters.
Most likely a little bit of both, As d2, the game will most likely have smaller content patches to update top tier items, sets, bosses, extra content basically, and then a huge "patch" as an expansion maybe 1-2 years later releasing huge story patches with bigger better content, like story elements, new classes, skills, etc. Although i could even see skills being added, smaller content things like previously removed features implemented later in release as patches, like that whole perks thing that was going on around 2010.
Edit: meh, what i just said was a mess, but basically yes and yes. Story elements, classes, level cap raise, expansion most likely. Items, buffs/nerfs, new boss or two, new features, as patches.

No content patchs. Patchs nonetheless to make interface better and rebalance the game but that's about it. Game story will be expanded by expansions.
Hum... the game is free to play. I don't see why they would think it better for their pocket to release massive amount of content through patches. Not that they won't add anything with patches, but the big stuff will be in expansions and they certainly are going to look for profit.
No content patches, just bug fixes and balancing. There are 2 expansions planned at the moment (and could change at any time). According to their timeline (lol), it shows one for Q2 of 2013, and Q4 of 2014. After that, you'll have 20 years of the same thing.
You guys need to realize this is diablo and not WoW, The term "Content patch" in d2 was new items (each ladder introduced new runeword items) and occasionally bosses (Like uber diablo/baal/etc), Skill reset, and the likes. Given this is D3 and not D2, I still expect the same treatment. There too was an expansion for D2 (Lord of Destruction), which introduced a new act, items, bosses, etc.

Haha I love this schedule. Don't get me wrong I think its real but it just goes to show how off target Blizz has been.
End of 2011 we should have had Heart of the Swarm and D3 while in 2013 we should get Legacy of the Void and D3 Ex1.
More like 2013 Heart of Swarm and D3 EX1 2014 - 2015.

Remember RMAH they take percentage of transactions, that could line pockets for content. Of course if farming companies don't find away around it.
