I read these forums from time to time, as they are in reference to a game I am looking forward to playing. I am amazed at how some people think Blizzard owes you ANYTHING in regards to updates, release date, or whatever. Blizzard is doing a courtesy by telling us anything about the game they are developing. Hell, they didnt even have to announce they were making it! Granted, not having an announcement, or updates would hurt the final sales. But seriously folks. Step away from the ledge, let this VERY successful gaming company finish THEIR game like THEY want it, and then they will release it. They were within any right to just tell us in 2008 they were making Diablo 3, and then hear nothing until release date. There are too many posts about "If Blizzard doesnt announce the release date next week, Im done with this game!" Meaningless threats, as you know damn well you will still play the game, and its not like your post is going to make them hurry along any faster =) Does it suck it was "delayed" from their initial release date? Sure. Maybe you were better off never hearing of an initial release date, otherwise you wouldnt be whining about it taking so long, you wouldnt have known any better. Go out, have some dates, enjoy life for a few more months....from the sounds of it Diablo will be enveloping the vast majority of your life soon to come..
While I understand what you mean, technically Blizzard owes us everything. We are the ones that make them possible. People have been saying that a lot lately and it always bugs me. At least say something that makes more sense, like it would be unwise for blizzard to give you a tentative release date at this time. "They dont owe you anything" is retarded...

You're talking to people on a Diablo forum, so duh we are all going to play. I know a lot of casual gamers that lost interest in the game years ago that would have bought it, but now wont. Not the kind of people to sit in diablo forums all day. So there are in fact a lot of people who have dropped out due to the long development time.
That aside they have been teasing too hard, and announced the development of the game way too early. Poor marketing decisions and excessively long development time especially with the resources they have is the main reason the majority of the community is upset.
Yes this is true, BUT most of these complaints I think are mostly out of frustration rather than direct hate towards Blizzard (it can be both), myself included. The frustration being waiting and closely following a game for almost 4 years...
- When Blizz said (sometime in 2010 I think) that the game is playable from beginning to end but far from complete, people were genuinely expecting a release in 2010, but looking back at this now, it seems absurd.
- When Blizz said in 2011 they are "aiming for a late 2011 release" and "we really want to release the game in 2011", again, people really thought this will be it!!
- When Blizz pushed the game back into "early 2012", most people were just fed up of waiting and these "delays" (delays in " " since they haven't given us a release date once). They said before the push back that they are in the polishing phase.
- Now with the RMAH in Korea, things are getting real shitty. They've delayed their decision for the 5th time today and don't have something to say of it. Even if this isn't the reason for the delay, we are expecting things to have been done by now...EVERYTHING!!
With this said, it's also what Blizz is saying/telling/teasing us with: tweets, ambiguous blue posts, "soon", "early", "You'll hear soon enough" ect. This is not great communication with the fans. I mean, almost every single thread there is people complaining about the delays and Blizz not saying shit! This isn't a coincidence, the community is really fucking mad!!!! And really fucking frustrated!!!
Why don't you use your actual account to post trollings or are you afriad you might be wrong?
Lol this ^
And as to the OP you are arguing at a 90 degree angle to logic and everything that has been said. "Owe" is not the right word, but they are responsible to their customers. I'm sorry, but they are, and it matters 0% what you think about that. That's how a business is run.
No they don't "owe" us a release date, but any sensible business would give one, or an idea of one, or at the very least a reason why we don't have one. They have definitely dropped many hints about its imminent release in the past only for us to be repeatedly disappointed so at this point, they may not "owe" us anything, but they would be smart to do so.
And Bash and Z actually having the gall to act surprised at outrage over this is pretty.. naive. Much like this post. But if you want to use the word "owe" then yes, they owe everything to us. We pay their bills, we make their work and jobs possible. Period. It's not a gift they're giving to us, we pay for a product.
I like how everyone keeps making topics with no new information as if the forum were some kind of chat lobby to express their opinions of the going ons inside blizzard. Oh wait I'm guilty of posting as such every so often /fades away.
Anyways, while you have a point and people are acting very entitled I wish this wasn't it's own topic, seeing as how you're talking to other people basically doing the same thing you're doing right now, which is make topics complaining about how they're frustrated with one thing or another. OP does not deserve upvotes. I don't understand why this wasn't a reply to people in the existing topic(s).
You're crazy though. This isn't like blizzard has a cookie and we want it, but they don't want to share. They want people's money so they need to convince them to buy their product. Updates and information are a part of that. That's why you pay people money to do PR etc. I think it was at a blizzcon where someone asked the crowd to cheer for a competitive pvp model, and few did, but if they had Jay admitted he'd feel more compelled to do as such, in his own words, "have to".

You can clearly see that NOT ONE post in this thread agrees with the OP, yet has 3 upvotes...people upvoting: give your damn opinion!!!!
Edit: except maybe that 611 guy. My post doesn't agree with him, it's just from a different angle.
Blizzard owes you nothing ? hahahahahahaha they are making money becouse of us ...... so they owe us a lot
No, they are making money off of us because THEY are making a product we want. If they did not make this product a quality product that we wanted, we wouldnt buy it. They are the ones generating the profit on their own by their work (Which we also HAVE NOT BOUGHT yet)
"There is something you can do about it and that is stop putting so much emphasis on whether a game will be released or not. It is easy to get caught up in the hype but all blizzard owes us is a complete game when they release it anything before that is just fluff. Take a vacation stop following the sites and chill out. It will be here before you know it."

I'm all for Blizzard not owing us anything. Perfectly fine with that.
The problem is more that Blizzard feels we all owe them. Their egos as game developers have reached astronomical levels. They show you every tiny little update to their games as if to say, "God, aren't we awesome you guys? I mean, yeah, our game is constantly getting delayed but look how awesome we are with all this stuff we're doing. So cool, right?"
So yeah I've never felt for a moment Blizzard owed me anything. It might be nice if they didn't show such a disdain for their fans maybe...but to owe me anything? Nah.
Blizzard owes their fans everything. When Diablo was first released, it was just another run of the mill dungeon crawler that they didn't expect to take off like it did. Then those who knew that Blizzard had made a good product bought the second one when it came out, and again it was a success.
Now let's look at another franchise known as the Duke Nukem series. Fans became enthralled with the series, following it all the way through. Then one day they announced a title "Duke Nukem Forever". This games release would be 14 years after announcement, causing many, many fans to become upset and even some turned on the game. After 14 years of work the game was released and loyal fans (and very little others) purchased it. The day after release GameStop shelves were overstocked with returns of the game. It was so horribly received that the previously mentioned fans returned it faster than any other game before it.
So making fans wait for so long gave them a bad reputation and low sales numbers. Blizzard hasn't made us wait 14 years after announcement but there is no greater example for how making fans and customers wait is a very bad idea.
They don't owe us it but it would be nice to know what is going on... it has been three and a half years since they announced the game and we still have no idea when it's coming out.

wait... so Diablo was only good because we bought it? so so so wrong.
Diablo did so great, and got so many sells, because it was an AMAZING game. There was nothing like it. It was a hands down fantastic amazing game, it was BECAUSE of that, that we all bought it, then said "hey man you HAVE to get this game" so they did...and so on till out sold so many copies.
This game did so well BECAUSE it was so good, not because we bought it.. its the full other way around
"We bought it, because it was good"
How in the world does blizzard owe us for buying one of their games Because they did such a good job on it....what?
so im working on a new game and i told people it might be done in the near future and they like it, now they are all yelling at me saying how i "owe" them a date of when exactly it will be done because they like it?..... wtf? its MY game i spent MY money on to make and spent MY time making it, what did you contribute to this game? oh nothing, fuck off
