The blue post on this are well hum... quite dumb. We're talking about animation cancelling but all he can care about is the smoothness of the play.
Guess what bozo, if you keep this so called smoothness you open this up for abuse. Which is pretty lame, and I say this exclusively because they require hotkeys which are severely limited in this game (4, not counting 5th, need one for potions) out of 6, all in all its a pretty stupid thing to me.
Anyway, the thing is that it doesn't even make anything smoother which makes those blue posts even dumber. The only thing that would make things smoother would be the ability to move at any time during the skill. And they could enforce its delay through this.
Wait so how does this work exactly? If i use 7 sided strike halfway through way of the hundred strike (the part with multiple hits) do any of the wothf attacks hit?
Your skill will go wherever you have your mouse currently. So instead of aiming and clicking youre aiming and pushing the key.
I don't know, it just seems like it would be awkward to coordinate both hands (for me, anyway). The system in D1 and D2 of mapping hotkeys to the mouse seemed really natural and comfortable, it didn't occur to me that they might change it. I liked that system because it also meant that you couldn't just mash the keys and let loose two or three different projectile spells at your target simultaneously.

Well that's not because of having hotkeys, thats from this skill cancelling nonsense, which Bashiok has said casting two skills is not their intent and this is being changed.
blue post on BNet forum says they have already changed this and they are still tweaking it. Beta is old code.. this is already impossible with their newer code that hasn't been updated on the beta yet.. so don't bother with the vid
My suspicion about skill canceling is that Blizzard intended most skills to be cancelable into movement. This makes sense because D3 skills have very lengthy casting and recovery animations compared to a true "Ninja Gaiden" type game. Making the recovery animations cancelable into movement would keep characters mobile despite lengthy skill animations, and I can totally believe that this is working as intended. This is probably what the first blue post was talking about (although they clearly didn't watch the freaking youtube video).
The beta allows players to cancel one skill into a second skill (as seen in the video). This looks much more like a "Halo 2 BXR" than a working-as-intended move. There's almost no way they'd let that go live.
from what i gathered from the blue post, they are trying to make sure the game is constantly flowing so they were experimenting how they can keep the animation transitions seamless.. they certainly don't intent to leave exploits like this in the final code and if they do accidentally leave something behind, it'll be an error they will likely correct soon after it's discovered.

No. Why would it?

I hope they fixed or will fix this properly.

I can definitely testify to this.
WTB Patch.
Makes sense to me. I'm glad they're paying close enough attention to care about casting animations.

I hope you guys are right!
