Blizz said D3 beta in Q3, it hit in the final 12 days of Q3.. This leads me to believe a mid to late march release. Then again, it could come out in July for all we know D:

Agreed. I do not believe this date one bit...just interesting how this new article proudly places in feb...heres to hoping they are right...but not getting my damn hopes up.
Well, it's as good a guess as January or March. If they are right, they can point back at that article and say "see we knew it!". If not, they can hope people forget their guess was wrong.
Although I think Feb is the earliest D3 launch date, but IGN 100% DONT know exact date either. If anyone finds out first, its Blizz partners, and they have no clue (yet).
Even more interesting point which discredits that article, is:
"The bigger the bubble, the more popular the game. It's all statistically correct."
Arkham city as popular as Skyrim, and 10x more popular than D3? Please
In the Americas alone:
Elder scrolls has 782,842 pre-orders as of last week.
Batman has 711,902 pre-orders as of last week.
Diablo 3 has 128,772 pre-orders as of last week.
I dont for one minute believe is coming out in Feb though. April at the very earliest. In fact, I wouldnt doubt if there were more delays.
It is in my opinion (and my own reason) that people are waiting for CE information and/or Digital Download. People want Blizzard games for their 11pm (day before actual release in uk) time Start!
Its probably true (Not for myself however. Ive already got 10$ down at EB games). But IGNs just using the data they have on hand.
Initially I said at the end of 2010, then at the end of 2011, now I say at the end of 2012, just so that I won't be disappointed, furious and sad when the game is finally released in Q1 2012...
I know myself, I'll just be downloading it as I'm pretty confident they'll provide a direct download, unless of course some retailer starts offering beta keys for a preorder
And while I'm dying for D3, I would have to concede that at this point in time, Skyrim is probably more anticipated.
It is in my opinion (and my own reason)for lack of pre-orders is that people are waiting for CE information and/or Digital Download. People want Blizzard games for their (11pm day before actual release in uk) time Start!
I'm waiting until Amazon announces their preorder incentive to preorder with amazon.
I want to pre-order, but not until I see that CE or what "perks" different retailers will be offering. WHY WHY did this have slip to 2012! I hope Skyrim lasts me some time. Also, we the other bubbles there, I truly feel there is legitimate excitement about a multi-platform release vs a PC only realase at this time. There is no doubt in my mind that almost every PC gamer will be clamoring for D3, but these console releases are appealing to the masses...why do you think the PC gets no real love any more? Cause the fan base is sitting on their couches staring at 50" tvs.

Its a 33,33333333 procent chance they are right.. Thats really good odds!

Edit: Sorry 25% chance Still its a good shot!
That's IF it doesn't get pushed back again. Because, lets be honest, that's totally possible (especially with Blizzard we're talking about here). My brother keeps insisting June/July release and I'm going with March. Loser has to buy the other their copy of Diablo 3

1. Skyrim and Arkham City are much much closer to release then D3. You should check their numbers when they were 4-6 months off from release.
2. Skyrim and Arkham City have an actual release date, not a tentative Blizzard date.
3. My GUESS is that most people who have preordered Diablo 3 are people who do not closely follow Blizzard as we forumgoers do. That's because we know theres more incentive for waiting closer to release (when we actually find out when that is)
Basing popularity on current preorders won't really give you a good estimate on how well the games will do comparatively.
The biggest headline you could take from these numbers are PC gaming vs Console gaming (In terms of Preorders). In which Console is clearly winning. This is probably due to the fact that you can't download console games straight onto your 360/ps3. (Note: Skyrim/Battlefield 3/Arkham City/CoD4. None of those PC preorders made it onto the top 20 list... I haven't preordered any of those games but I am planning to play 3 out of 4 of them)

idk that is some pretty weak reasoning....
Imo the beta was released months too early.

Sphh I am just going to wal-mart.
Wal-mart is 10 mins in and out, as opposed to an 2 hour wait in line.
PS: The date and size of those bubbles was pulled from a dark smelly orifice.

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!

The popularity isnt in question. Here is some visual facts:

edit: I've been saying like feb-may 2012 from the beginning, but it's not over yet, I'm afraid.
And while I'm dying for D3, I would have to concede that at this point in time, Skyrim is probably more anticipated.
It was less about him being 'correct', and more that he just made a guess and happened to be right. I wouldn't put him on a pedestal for it though.

Only to earn that money back via RMAH! win/win!
IMO they will announce the release date in Blizzcon
