Just because "pirate swords" are in Diablo 3 doesn't mean that they are in fact pirate swords. Could anyone not have come up with the same design besides a pirate? Just because pirates of old wielded them doesn't actually coin them being pirate-only swords, plenty of others wielded such.
Yes, but the item in question is literally called a "Pirate Sword", the exceptional item version of the Cutlass.
You don't have to be a pirate to use them, sure, but that's what they're called in-game.

I will preface this with: Meshif. Definitely a "pirate/high-seas"-esque character in Diablo 2.
Blades, cutlasses, etc., "Pirate" could pretty much be a thief/rogue class. That's what a "Pirate" is on land, yes?
"Pirate" as a class? I hope not. I already am disappointed in the Demon Hunter...which as a side note, is a pretty stupid class concept/name considering every class, in every Diablo game...HUNTS DEMONS. :|

I think the Demon Hunter's story is not finished...until we know the end game story line. I think that the DH is going to be a central character to the main storyline (maruis d2) and perhaps go through some sort of "change" come expansion perhaps even a slight class change? (sin war trilogy style anybody? ). Just a feeling..... As for a "pirate" class... I don't think we will see it.

May the heroes rise from the pit of despair and the bards sing of the day of death renewed to everlasting immortality....awaiting your return to the lands of Sanctuary may peace be with you on this day...your day of birth.
I like the open minded ideas, anything is possible to an extent that it doesn't jeopardize the whole diablo theme/feel. Beta isn't even over, then launch (the most glorious day), and many other changes until an expansion should even really be discussed or given to much thought. One step at a time in my opinion.

Meshif is a sea merchant and not all the classes hunt demons as their profession.
I dunno, what would a pirate have to gain from this? Coming off of his boat, which I doubt their is an awful lot of meaningful sea travel right now, and becoming basically a highwayman? It just seems like a stretch of logic. Also what would a thief care about stopping evil? All the other classes have a purpose and reason.
TONS of thieves in the video game industry have stepped up to fight for a cause, hell, I mean check any large RPG series you can find tons of thieves that have stepped up for a cause. Take a look at Forgotten Realms or FF.

"...We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; for he to-day that sheds his blood with me
shall be my brother..."
Pirates without water, ship and talking parrots is considered Thiefs and Merchants with a taste of Rum.
I guess we could have a strange new breed of a warrior, meeting qualities with Shield, Knives and Transformation. Heck, maybe even telepathy / kinetic!? And what element is missing? Earth magic. We do have much of others? I have no idea.
Not a druid, but something else.
Beastmaster seems not right.
Hunter seems too.. I dunno "not" transformation.
Hmm..
Edit: Javelin character, someone talked about this before the DH was introduced.
Pirates in land are just not fun to play, in my opinion. And I dont think we'll be having oceanic adventures anytime soon..
This just in, another continent has been discovered and we will have to travel via ship! Release has been pushed back by another 10 years, please stand by!
The best part of this is that the odds that Pirates will be in D3 are very slim to none. But you could see a NPC in the future, that would explain the weapons at least.
And yes, a shield / javelinmaster / shapeshifter type isnt on D3 yet.
I miss a class that really likes knives and are more about stealth then "head on attacks".
I THINK THERE IS AN HINT HERE.

I will not forget this.
Exactly, and therefore THIS THREAD TOPIC!

"realistic like moon physics", you seem upset.
And anyways the problem isn't realism, the problem is Diablo-esque character choices.
I knew someone would hop on that real quick.
