Let's talk about your guys plans post release. Will you guys be teaming up with some close friends or playing solo? Maybe even grabbing a few friends off of Diablo Fans to roam the burning hells with? Most anticipated class, and probable secondaries.
Personally I'm going to roll a monk, play with friends who will also be running D3 release day. Hopefully they have a guild feature and we can all get to play together at some point in time :D.
My secondary will most likely be the Demon Hunter or Wizard.
I want to run a stream and race to level 60. Hopefully if I play for a week straight I can be one of the first to accomplish this. Leveling fastest seems to hinge on the acquisition of +exp gear with good killing power. I will probably be playing with randoms or people from forums because my IRL friends will all be noobs lol. I don't think they will play as much as me so I'll surpass them very quickly. Yea.. So i'll basically be grinding out the hours while developing the best techniques for farming exp and items.
Looking at all the beta coverage i have chosen the monk to be my first character. and want to play with friends from diablo fans as well as solo and a couple games with the main people ie: force sixen cyber hunter and beat some face. The second class i want to get at is either going to be a barbarian or wizard.
Either monk or wizard with my friend going barbarian or demon hunter. Then I have a couple other friends who I dunno if they will be around enough to keep up with us or not.

I will be moving my brothers PC into my room for a 2 days Diablo 3 co-op normal run, i will be playing barb.
I feel compelled to start with a barb just because i always played warrior/barb first in the previous games. Maybe between now and launch we can develop more of a consensus as to which classes are best in different areas of gameplay.. it's too hard to tell at this point!
Pre-release I am going to do all of my schoolwork that I can possibly do between Release and summer break, so the only time missing out on D3 action is actually sitting in class (and during that time i'll probably be using the AH through mobile phone lol)
When released I am going to roll a Monk or a Barbarian; I haven't decided cause monk looks so badass but I loved barbarian in D2 and I almost always play a warrior/barbarian character in every RPG. I'm going to play solo up to 60 for the most part, then group with people to farm inferno!

When the classes where announced I was a little disappointed with them. I never thought I would play the monk, it just seemed like a smaller version of the barb (which I didn't care for in D2). So I waited patiently until the announced the Demon Hunter, and instantly I was like "Yes!", but as time went on for some reason the monk started to seem more and more appealing. He still is kind of like the barb with the melee damage, but with the quickness and agility of dropping in and out of combat is what attracts me the most.
My plan is to play all the way through normal with a Barbarian by myself so nothing will be spoiled. After that, I'll either start a new class or keep pushing through nightmare, this time with friends.
I'm going to play one of my first two characters exclusively with my brother. The other I will only solo with and finish the game at my own pace.
I will then play with my friends who traveled from other games and I know in real life with additional characters or with old characters depending on what needs killed, in addition to using the public features on additional and existing characters to mingle with the commoner community.
Gonna play with my brother and some RL friends, I like casters a lot so either with Wizard or Witch Doctor. My plan is to run through the all levels of the game till we stuck at some boss or Act and start an barb alt.
I'll be playing HC only, and barbarian to start, will probably stick with it... I have a habit of attempting to be the best possible at one thing, rather than play all different classes. As always whilst playing Diablo II hardcore classic, we have a tight knit crew who always maintain top spots when we all play, and take #1 useast every season that I've played... we will all be playing together as Team CLAM for D3 Hardcore. Keep an eye out!! =)

Judging by your sig, it appears that you and your crew prefer D2 Classic as opposed to LoD. Why??

The items, the community USED to be fun, now it's really composed of wierdo's who want to alienate everyone who is not like them, and softcore players who attempt to tame the masses. LoD appears to be less of a challenge where as people still die on classic to minions who easilly hit for 2k-3500 at times(rare) but still happens. Gear is less generic... And dueling is fun =)
Honestly I think I spend more time on SC2 than I should... I should really uninstall it right now being that I have no desire to be good at it, and just use it as a time sink, when I should be doing homework lol... I thought it would hold me over till d3 release but it's just a bunch of shit... playing diamond/masters and people still cheese 247 and or you play random team and get stuck with some keyboard warrior acting tough.
Edit - I honestly feel LOD is extremely easy, and unfulfilled... So those of us who have played classic for a long time, have stuck to it since .08 ish? As soon as bug valors/other shit like havoc mark jewels came out we hit the road. My impression of LOD community is that of an il-mannered teenager... no one has manners, if you were to be dueling 1v1, they will most likely have chicken on. I noticed a lot of tppk on LOD hardcore which is senseless and again ilmannered... On HCC those players are quickly dealt with hostility and mostlikely dueled into the ground every game they attempt to join. Duels are manner, and random hack related pk is not accepted, at all. Classic has more risk vs reward regarding dueling at high level. LOD you can pump out a 92-95 relatively quickly, where as classic 94+ is quite an accomplishment... at 93 you are considered decent xp wise. Dueling 92+ on HCC is ballsy and fun =)
Cheese in sc2 is simply an effective strategy if left unscouted/ not practiced for. At least that's how it used to be. Now with the new maps from season 3 it's a huge pile of shit where people randomly almost win no matter what 1/4th or more of the time vs any opponent.
I'm playing a barb first time, and playing through really slow, I want to make sure I check every possibly thing. I'm also probably gonna run every act twice before moving to the next so I don't fall behind in gear. I predict most people will have to run the game through nightmare at least 5-10 times to comfortably beat hell. It will be even harder to get to inferno. I don't want you to be able to just do normal>nightmare>hell>farm inferno all in one week. I want it to be HARD to progress to the next difficulty. You should have to do normal like 5 times before you're ready to do nightmare.
Dude, you have inspired me to pick up HCC as one final experience before D3 (esp now with the delay). I had a 90 blizzsorc on hc a long time ago so I have some experience at least. The unique item setups are a huge plus for me.. the game isn't dominated by a few runewords/uniques. I'm sure HCC is mostly about the sick rares? Do you just run chaos sanc?? What barb build is safest? WW can bugout for insta death, high risk for hc.

They need to make more 2 player maps for 1v1.
