BTW I just noticed that the Chat Gem changed the look on the helm listed second to last (Tal Rasha's Horadric Crest). If you click it it rotates through 5 different looks for the helm. It's not that you don't see all options if you actually click the item, I just thought it was interesting that they are still playing with us!
Edit: The chat gem rotates through on each click for each character on every item and type!
What im wondering about is the scrolls of reforging, the fact that it lowers the max durability by 10%... My guess is that it does not stack, it just keeps removing 10% from the new number, or else we can only use the a max of 9 times. I guess in a way its a good thing, risk having to re-find the item because the durability is to low after reforging? I just dont know.
I definitely don't think all icons are in this database. I highly doubt that an amazing legendary item has the look of your starting bow/dagger/etc.
I would like to present Exhibit 1 as contradicting evidence to your statement.
Ex. 1) The Shako from D2.. one of the best headgears in the game and it looked like the first 1 defense helmet you'd find in the game. it had amazing stats and still some people didn't use it because it looked horrible.

After looking through more of the items, I actually think you could be right. I'm hoping there's a visual progression on each "level" of items, but I guess stats will prevail no matter how certain items look.
Big con: not seeing balance between 2 2handers and 1 handers. There is a 1handers axe that is faster and does equivalent damage to lvl 60 2handers
I think that con will go away while you're in game because, if you can get the items you want, you'll be able to clearly see how they change your stats/dps/etc. But, it's definitely difficult to do just using the website.
just basing off what seeing, but if two 1handers are faster and do more damage then a 2handers does, it doesn't seem balanced . I like the idea that you can use weapon type without being railroaded into certain item types like in D2
Interesting that there are very few (if any) unique effects on any of these items.
On one hand, I like that even the "best" items can be extremely random, but on the other you are going to be able to just use anything you find without much worry. This does mean there will be very few best in slot items.
Overall this seems to be a good thing. Looking for a specific piece of gear for a build was sometimes very annoying and time consuming in Diablo 2. There were entire builds based around a singular piece of gear - this time it looks to be the other way around in that the gear will simply support your playstyle choices, not dictate them.

Buriza-Do Kyanon
Haha, I was just about to comment on Thunderfury.

Love the mix of old favorites, but with enough new that we're not all still 'WINDFORCE AND SOJ', etc.
Favorite D2 reference item: Flavie's Vigil. <3
