The announcement is not what I wanted but I am not mad at what we are getting. What I don't like is the Necro pack is coming second half of 2017. The armory and mats tab are coming in 2017. Challenge rifts are not coming until 2017. All major changes to the actual game are so far out. Had they not wasted there time building the original Diablo in the game we could get real upgrades to the game in a reasonable time. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against the original game but it is a 1 play through thing. The mentioned changes are quality of life far more important than nostalgia...
No one is mad about what we are getting, we are mad about what we are not getting. Necromancer and 2 new zones in about 6 months is not nearly enough.

The "second half of 2017" means it's at LEAST 8 months away. I wouldn't be surprised if it's not until mid September.
I also think it´s too little, too late and with too long delievery time.. But, I still love the game so I´ll still be playing it. Maybe not as much as before, but I will not abandone my favourite game, despite it´s flaws.. They have had a lot of staff changes and that naturally affects the timeframe of new content. I´d wish though that we could contribute with some form of microtransactions so the team could be stronger and more suited to release new and better content more often..
i hope there will be more tonight, im fine with necro and armory.
- i dont like that we need to fight GR boss in a special room, as a HC player i hope we can get out of that room if we proc.
That's actually the thing i'm most excited about, imagine u get a grift 90+ malthael or belial, i'm sure that heartbeat will get pumping hehe.
I really hope that's the plan, we need real boss fights back in the game.

I said exactly what you said "The announcement is not what I wanted but I am not mad at what we are getting." It is more than 6 months for the pack. Again I said the Diablo rebuild in Diablo 3 was a waste of time. Some cosmetic items to celebrate the anniversary would have been perfect. Hell they could have made it DLC (5$). TO put there resources into the remake and not into the quality of life changes is the problem with the new content. It is so far out for so little that is the problem.
So from the poll alone it looks like 3/4ths of the playerbase on dfans is discontented with blizzcon showing. I wonder if blizzard has done something like this for their own enlightenment. Obviously they'll know not everyone can be satisfied, but 75% of a playerbase (small sample on this site, I know)? That would be unacceptable to me as a major company.
Like "Oh shit, we better announce everything we've got planned for the longevity of this game ASAP" kind of unacceptable.
it's 75% of 125 people on an enthusiast forum, where expectations and hype run wild. I don't think it's indicative of the playerbase as a whole at all, considering most D3 players I know don't go to discussion forums, rather they use sites like these to find optimal builds and play.
An expansion would've been cool. D4 would've been cool. I don't think we should downplay what we're getting just because neither of them were announced. D4 especially, since they could easily be working on that while these minor class updates are just filler content to keep D3 running. By all means, we could have had nothing for D3 at all and have it left in maintenance mode.
Honestly this is pretty interesting stuff, the whole 2 new zones thing has been done before and it's fun for a bit to at least get a change of scenery in such a static game like the d3 world. Honestly I'm most looking forward to the anniversary patch as that looks to be loads of fun and I'm looking forward to playing a Necromancer again......I never got into the WD and it'll be fun to play a Necro for a new seasonal character.
I don't know though exactly what their "real" future plans are for the Diablo universe and that is a little disappointing......I was hoping they'd either go all in with an expansion or just surprise us with a D4. An Exp 2 would have been nice because it could have done some major changes to the game and really made it even better. They could have really tried to fix the core issues remaining with D3 and really made the game shine. A D4 could have started from scratch with everything that worked in D3 but removed all the crap that just didn't work. Instead they seemed to have continued with the previous development cycle of a little additional content which leaves us in a limbo wondering what else is next.
I'm still hoping they'll provide some more details later today about the future of the game but for now I am content with the current announcement and it has given me a reason to reinstall d3 and play again for now.
