After watching a lot of beta streams and keeping up with as much Diablo information as I can i still have not seen someone explain why your going to gain an entire 30 levels without learning a single new ability. I understand the skills scale with level and that's how they should be but I know for a fact that when I'm playing a game and i level up I want to get a new skill, imo that's a huge part of the level drive for me. I know diablo isn't a level driven game its all about finding the best possible gear but still I think they should consider adding additional skills that you cannot unlock until max level or possibly spreading the skills out so while your still striving to reach 60 you still dont have all of your skills and abilities.
I dunno this is just my opinion I was wondering how other people felt about having all of your skills at 30.
There will be a lot of people who will only play normal and not go on to the harder difficulties, and I think it's aimed at them so they gain the last skill near the end of normal, and get to have all the skills while playing even without doing the harder difficulties
Diablo 3 is based off the Diablo model, not the mmo model. In D2, you got all of your skills by 30 also, and the level cap is 99. As you level your skills get stronger as do the monsters you are fighting. Now you will find rune stones, that change your skills, and we really don't know how they will drop or be found.
So while you might get a skill at level 1, if you find a rune for it at 35, now that skill can be 100% different.
This new generation of gamers who never touched D1 or D2.. Sigh.
It's starting to become very easy to tell who came from WoW and who came from D2 with all these silly topics floating around. A lot like the "WUT NO ADDONS?!" ones. Lol...

Yeah that makes a lot of sense I just thought they might do something a little different but yeah i can see a lot of people not going past normal difficulty and for that player base not being able to unlock all of the skills and abilities would be pretty lame.
And ive played Diablo 2 a ton but I also play wow a lot and I just like the idea that when you level up you get a new ability and thought they might do something like that in D3 but now it makes sense because not everyone will go past normal difficulty.
Also, don't forget that there's going to be more customization after lvl 30 because higher level runestones will become availiable then. There won't be any until late Act 2 normal from what I heared and at around level 30 we should start playing Nightmare.

At level 35 if you're bored with your build, find some runestones and re-socket your skills. Remember every single skill in D3 has 6 different effects/animations. Some very subtle and others drastically different.
And then do it again at level 40, 45, 50. Of course that means lots of runestones but its something to look forward to.
Anyway, its not really an issue. If D3 plays like D2, then nightmare/hell really is almost a different game than it was in normal. In theory the only change is the difficulty, but it feels really really different gameplay wise.

5 Variations. But yea
6 if you count the base skill unmodified (which you should)
now about runestones lets say you get a powerful crimson runestone are you able to freely move that around to any skill you want or does it become bound when you put it inside a skill?

It becomes bound to that specific skill. You are free to unsocket it at any time and throw it in your stash, but it will forever be bound to only that skill.

ahh I see I have a feeling our stash is going to end up being filled up with alot of runes then since they become bound to that specific skill that you first put it in.
I suspect a big reason for this is so that they can add further skills in content patches instead of waiting for an expansion. Even 2 new skills per class can be added with a 5 level gap each to level 40. Also 1 passive with a 10 level gap. Brings a lot of future possibilities, that's all.

Do you have a source for that? I've looked around for that info in the past and haven't seen anything conclusive one way or the other.

To me Diablo was never about the loot but killing things as fast as I can and the loot was only a bonus for a job well done

As you level from 30-60, you will naturally find new skills lying around on the ground just waiting to be socketed.

Ha. Bagstone.
