I was looking at available careers at blizzards website and i found a job opening for a Playstation software engineer. And just thinking out loud here but with the current cap of 6 skills that would easily fit onto a XB/PS3 controller.
Senior Software Engineer, Console -- Playstation 3 Specialist
Diablo III
Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an enthusiastic senior software engineer to be a key contributor on the Diablo team. This position is responsible for overseeing Playstation 3 (PS3) architecture design as well as other PS3-specific game code development to maximize platform performance.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain game systems to work on the Playstation 3.
Identify previously unknown issues and offer solutions.
Be responsible for various systems including the game engine, audio, physics, tools pipeline, etc.
Work closely with game design to ensure a great player experience.
They did say it would most likely not be connected to the pc game... but who knows for sure. We'll just have to wait and see, that's definitely an interesting prospect.

In my experience the only cross-platform game i have played was ShadowRun and things ran really smoothly, but if D3 was on console would they still use BNet2.0? How would Bnet interact with PSN and XBL? If d3 does come to console i dont think itll be anytime soon.
As long as they keep console gamer away from computer player , i dont care .
Uhh they are trying to get away from the "keeping them away" the day we can all play together the better. (EX: Ps3 ccan use keyboard mouse for shooters if needed). If it is indeed Diablo 3 port, I would be mad if I couldnt play with my friends that only have consoles.
I Voted bad(however there is an exception, if It's off line only, with possable local multiplayer, and the spects required are vastly lowerd, then it would be awesome), damn console games spend too much time loading as is, besides no console could run D3 properly, the min requirements are sky high as is, hell even people with the recommended requirements have posted they have had problems running the game properly.
Nevermind the space required for a game like Diablo 3(PCs have basically no limit, but there is a pretty strict limit on consoles.

so much is wrong with this. Consoles would have no problem playing d3 (ok the wii cant) And... You do know how much a blueray/hddvd can hold right? Or just a regular dvd at that..

but wouldn't an offline mode become a security risk to pc gamers? The third party mods/hacks is the main reason behind the online only mentality that blizzard has. So if they have an offline mode for console gamers would that be like a giant slap to face for pc gamers?(not saying you can't have both, but some people don't have both and if they did they wouldnt want to buy the same product twice)
There would be so much segregation in the community, I don't think it would be possible.
uhhh I have to disagree with you 100%. I know of several games that allow the console community play with the online, and its fantastic.
But they probably aren't established franchises like Diablo where the entire community is already committed to playing on the PC. Thus the vast majority of console players will be new to game and there will be the PC "hardcore" and console "noob" crowd. Flame wars, trolling galore. I can say with 98% certainty that this will happen.
I expect D3 on consoles for sure but not anytime soon. It would be smartest for Blizzard to develop the game for the next generation of consoles that will likely be out in the next 2-3 years. Otherwise they're just catching the tail end of ps3/x360 lifespan.
Putting Diablo on a console would bring back memories of a game I used to play on N64 called gauntlet legends. Loved that game... But diablo just wouldn't feel right on a console. Lots more people do find consoles as being the cheaper alternative. Keep in mind consoles are struggling. Its possible that sony and microsoft will pay blizzard mad money to incorporate some of their high profile games on a console... There would be big bucks there.

Edit: wow I lucked out, right when Iclicked submit, my router had a glitch, more or less killing my internet connection, glad it got through.
No becuase in essance it would be a different game, it would look the same when playing it(and feel like the same game for the person playing it), but the design structure would be vastly different(as far as how the game is coded, hell I imagine even the maps would be resized while the gamer probally won't notice much of a change, unless playng both versions side by side).
To Molsterr: you are forgetting something, with the PC verson, when you install, all you are installing is the Launcher, and the maps(which that alone supposedly takes up somwhere between 2-3 gigs), everything else is handled by Blizzard's servers, so this game Isn't only a few gigs, and it would be very tough to squeeze everything even on a Blu-ray(and wouldn't be plauseable to have it for DL either, lol it would take a week to DL such a game with a console).
