I think it's fine as is, it just needs to not last until your health goes back up. A flash (even periodically recurring if your health stays low) would suffice, I think.
That would get annoying for me... Hope there is an option to tunr it off, I am capable of looking at my health and seeing if it's low or not, and if I fail to do that once or twice well..shit happens its pa of the game.

www.myspace.com/mpotatoes for all your Trans Siberian Orchestra listening pleasure
If you want to arrange it
This world you can change it
If we could somehow make this
Christmas thing last
By helping a neighbor
Or even a stranger
And to know who needs help
You need only just ask

I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.
Honestly I'm all for more options. If they were to add the ability to reduce the opacity or even change the colour or remove it... that'd be a good thing.
I think they should just let you choose the opacity of it yourself. That way you can hide it or make it as dim or bright as you want.
This. If they want to make it more noticeable then add heart thumping audio while making the above visual player made adjustments. Audio ques are fairly powerful and would fuse well with the ambiance in place.
Reduce the visual effect, and add an option to remove it entirely.
I feel the same way. From the times I've seen it it becomes hard to tell what's happening on the edges of the screen. Not to mention after so long it becomes rather annoying to look at. I like the concept, but I feel it would suffice to lessen the effect a tad, and add an option to remove it entirely.

This is exactly what I felt.
If possible, I'll definitely remove it when I play.
I think they should add an option for opacity. I've played around with effects like this, you can easily keep the current graphic while adding such an option. Doing this would kill two birds with one stone, seeing as how you'd allow players to lessen the effect, or remove it entirely (0% opacity) with one configuration.
Personally, I'd like to see it either removed completely, or reduced with an option to remove entirely.
