Personally I dont like it. I was fine with the item buying but A WHOLE CHARACTER! Come on blizz...."Mommy can I have $500 to buy a level 60 character with 1337 gear?" "Sure Johnny!"
Agreed, I like the idea. It would happen anyway, but in a back alley black market, under the overcoat kind of way. At least this way should be safe and secure.
Thats the reason right there, some people dont agree. They may work, and just want a new class type to do inferno in, paying a few bucks compared to the time it would take would be nothing to them.
I agree, to me theres no need, however I see the point for sure.
but why would they want to do inferno if they already have the best gear? just to play through the game? then why not just play through normal with a new character?
edit: ok if they already did that but wanted to try late-game with another class I could kinda see the point for some people ...I guess.
No one is saying you have to like it, or even use it. But it's a great option considering it is going to be out there whether blizzard puts it in the AH or not, so better to have blizzard oversee a safe transaction.

Also whos to say the character is geared? don't have to sell the character and his gear at the same time ^_~.
The thing to keep in mind with the RMAH and buying and selling toons is that it will happen, regardless if Blizzard facilitates it or not. There is no argument about whether people should be allowed to buy characters or gear with money. That will happen. Instead you are debating about whether Blizzard should or should not provide a safe, secure method for doing so, and I think the answer to that is obvious.
So basically, it would come as a patch because they plan to release an expansion 3 years after Diablo III ships.
So it definitely wont take 3 years before they put character selling into action.
But the feature doesn't come during ship, so keep on dreaming 'coz it'll take a while.
blizzard is smart with adding the buying and selling of characters and items. better blizzard do it, and it be controlled, than 3rd party sites. Plus all these micro transactions will keep the game updated and patched with new content for years to come.
Always has happened with Diablo so not a big deal. I like the ability to sell and buy it too. Saves you time having to find all of gear for a character or having to level up a guy for the 9000x time ( Altho with new system there is no point in having more then 1 of every class ).
This really only aids mfers who are getting back into game after quitting, and PvP people who don't want to waste time mfing. No one else would waste their time buying a guy otherwise, not like Diablo has ever actually been difficult enough that it required you bought anything to survive.
What I really wanna know is, can you change name of character you buy? If I get bored of the game and give all my shit away and come back a year or so later and decide I don't want to run through the game for the 90000000x and buy a character, I at least want it in a name I choose.
i dont like the idea but i dont think it will matter much. considerin you dont need to respec or change builds or what have you i doubt it will be used 2 much.

iagree butthey are trying to get all thrid party stuff out of there games (meaning econamy/hacks) they are providing the featuers for you hence if its there for u the third party is no more (and reason why i say hacks is cause biggest hacks in d2 was map hack and bots....they got rid of that by no havikn g a spacific boss to farm for best loot)ps...not saying theres not gonna b hacks just saying not at first like d2...
Yeah Blizzard's excuse doesn't work at all here. Without this feature you have to sell your entire battle.net account to someone to give them high level characters. Which means all your past achievements, friends lists, links to other games ETC do not come with. Transferring characters between accounts makes things enormously more convenient and have a higher value.
Still given the focus on inferno difficulty, I don't think lvl 60 chars are going to mean much in SC. In HC it's another story, effectively turning character death into a big gold/item penalty.

buying and selling characters is good in my opinion.. because if level 60s are worth alot.. ill just be making them as fast as i can and selling them.
plus if u fill up all ur character slots.. and wanna make a new character.. selling is certainly a better option than deleting it.
Whatever though, I will probably make some money off of the noobs.

Rob Pardo clearly stated that they are planning to add POST RELEASE, the selling of characters.

This.
Get a clue. What happens when a ton of people (in the hundreds of thousands) want to make money off of the same thing... at the same time?
They all get rich of course!... Right?...
And its really funny too how a ton of people are just spitting Blizzard's excuse for this.
