Well other dudes argument was a lvl 60 could run in someones game and kill everything so they can't get xp which is a legitimate concern.
Make the game private? lol
Sure, but what if you want to play socially with equal-power people?
Talk your friends into buying the game and play with them, then tell them to talk their friends into getting it and add them as friends.
Wouldn't help if all your friends who want to play Diablo III are too poor/bad with money to own a computer, as is the case here.
hmmm whats that commercial I think its like blue hippo or something they will give you money as long as you have a checking account... and then problem solved

I'm betting there's going to be a level restriction setting to games you create, as there was in D2.
Maybe, and I suppose that would largely solve the issue. I think my impressions of the Battle.net interface as revealed so far indicated to me that you didn't really make many decisions when creating a game. Just click create and set the game to public or join, you know what I mean? I should probably do a little more homework on this before I fight it any further.

No you're right, I misworded my post. You really don't create games the same way you did in Diablo 2. These kind of settings I've been talking about will surely still exist though. They'll likely be something you set before searching for a game, so that what ever game you end up in will have these specifications you've set in mind, and would restrict any future players that would join that game to those restrictions.

That seems sensible. Okay, if it's like that, I like it.
So I didn't really think about it before but listening to the podcast and the whole there is no end game bit kinda bummed me out and made me realize that yeah what is the point really in playing threw over and over just to get the gear that in the end doesn't do you any good because you beat the final difficulty, I remember I stopped playing after normal mode in d2 for that very reason, its like well I already beat it why would I want to play threw again just to have it be harder, I know the story now nothing new is going to happen. Sure now you can sell stuff you find maybe get some real money but it's not going to be much. I was all pumped to play too, now I am just bummed. I guess it is probly just all the anticipation building and building and there has been no real new talk or news to speak of and its just like now I don't care anymore because they just keeps teasing us with it.
Something interesting they could do with the play through would be like different events happening, like say first act you kill diablo, second play would be what would happen if diablo weren't killed or like the madness that was happening to you from the soul stone. Something like parallel realities or something where different decisions were made and still using the same basic layout of replaying the storyline over, you got to keep the gear you found but still find out what would happen in different scenarios. Idk something that the story would have new events to keep things interesting.
But this is just my venting and rambling I feel better now
It really sounds to me like D3 isn't the game you were looking for to begin with. That really sounds more like the open world adventure game... something like Amalur or Skyrim... rather than an ARPG like D3.
This is exactly why competitive pvp and game modes should be develoed and supported ( I.e. Content racing, "hoard mode," etc.). Eventually the story line will end. There needs to be some form of cometition to encourage loot farming for more than it's own sake, and of course the given that these options would be insanely fun!

To Jay Wilson and everyone else: Diablo 3 can be competitive without being an E-Sport.
Well, in d2 the only endgame was practically mfing and getting loot, and some pvp aswell. Even so I found myself playing d2 for many many years.
Here you even have organized pvp that was not available in d2, you have an entire new difficulty which could be a bit of a challenge to get the gear there, you need tons of gems transmuted for just 1 rank 14 gem (19683 if the highest that drops is really rank 5 gems), there are many achievements, and they did talk about adding more end game after release.
So if d2 kept me playing for many years I don't see why d3 won't.

Thats pretty much what I'm saying too, make more content so that the farming would have some kind of meaning and be used for something rather than just to have it. I realize that they said they intend to make more content and all that, I was just disappointed that it was the same concept as before where once the game is done there isnt anything else to do other then play the next harder act which is the same story line over and you will probably have to start the work you did for the merchants over as well
I think a lot of cool and not to mention HARD achievements will for me fulfill this role perfectly. I am sure you will need to use a lot of time in order to do the really cool achievments and get the banner icons that are awesome!
I think people need to realize that we do not have access to the content yet. Once you realize this, you'll see how easy it is to "wait and see" without expressing any emotions either way. The fact that there aren't "raids" like in WoW doesn't mean that there is no "end-game content" for D3.
When you think about the information that has been released, one of the few things that has been reiterated time and time again is the idea that each play-through (or even each time you connect) will feel like a new experience due to the level of randomization that they've placed into the game. Therefore, we should expect that from normal to hell, it will feel much less like completing the same content that we just ran through. It goes without saying that Inferno should be just-as, if not more, different and difficult than each act/difficulty combined.
We can go many ways with this, but I'd rather keep this shorter (too late, right?) so that people will actually read my half-wall of text.

Blizzard will be hot patching the game with new content every so often. This content can include things like different PvP modes, and quests to expand story. Not to mention expansions will cover all of these bases. I do not support modding of any sort.. It opens up a lot of loop holes which can lead to other types of game manipulation. Heavy competitiveness, just in my opinion, isn't part of what makes Diablo great, and would change the atmosphere of the game too much.

OP, Diablo is about perfecting your character, not continually expanding story. Plot helps drive the game of course, but it's not what makes the game replayable. It's about the of high difficulties, finding better gear, PvP, and exploring different builds, all the while trying to find obscure builds that work better than anyone would have thought.
Agree with this

Agree again, hopefully they will add more content to keep us even more busy.

they have confirmed beta release in september and possibly even the first two weeks. so its really happening. and since there just testing server stability and not the entire game content the beta will be remotely short and will definitely come out before xmas. i see no possible outcome resulting in it coming out next year.
also the game would be cool if there were alternate realities , but thats extremely difficult to implement and would definitely push the games release date wayyyy far back.

I think inferno adds a good place for end game farming, but just that...there stills need to be a point for the farming..a reason to make you feel that getting stronger makes sense even once you can beat all monsters easily...
I feel that Blizzard is aware that there needs to be a reason for the farming. I'm sure the arena will fill that for the most part, but then we don't know what else they're going to toss in for end game fun. Believe it or not, Blizzard isn't going to tell us everything. People will have to discover it on release.

This is also something I have thought about. I think this might be the "new endgame thing". Try to get the really hard achivements.
I can't stand playing only for the sake of loot.
But that's what Diablo is. Playing for the sake of loot. That's ALL Diablo has ever been. People tried to superimpose other meaning onto it... but in the end it really is just playing for the sake of loot.

Credited! Diablo is synonymous with loot whoring. It is a treasure hunting game. And I'm hoping that is where the focus will always remain.
