The auction house Real Money debate is absolutely stupid. Either way if they implemented it or not people were still going to be buying items from 3rd party sites and then that creates an entire problem for Blizzard when people complain about being hacked or losing their money. This way the small fee that goes into Blizzard helps pay for future updates and the safety from 3rd party sites keeps players from complaining.
The skills are fine you still have to choose which skills you will actually use and not to mention there are still runes involved in the game which keep everyone from being exactly alike. It's not like in D2 everyone was running around playing melee sorcs or melee necros... Everyone was either Lightning, Meteorb, or Blizzard or Summoner, Bone. There was almost no difference.
Some people just read the changes and automatically had the wrong ideas pop into their minds and this is the problem. If you look at the BIG PICTURE you can see that the changes are not bad at all. Just like when people complained about the stats changes.
"OH NO I cant put my 75 points into dex and rest into vitality on every single character besides ES Sorcsthe game is ruined" Really it sounds silly when you look at it now...
The only thing I will agree with is the forced internet... But how many other games rely on forced internet and they aren't dead?
I agree 100% on EVERY point. There's nothing else I can add. The last bit I only would say that yeah, it's nice to have single player. But, really, it's 2011. It doesn't really seem that necessary anymore.

www.nerdyblog.com - Great website and great Diablo III streams and Skype chat!
I quite like the real money AH move. Diablo is an old franchise, the fans who fell in love with the first two games have now grown up. Us guys who spent days upon days doing MF runs 10 years ago in d2 are now working full time and some of us are married and dont have time to dedicate much time anymore to get the maximum enjoyment out of the game.
If I were to buy items I would math rather it go through a bliz controlled system then through a corruption filled community like d2jsp or some dodgey website.

You don't need to buy anything, nor get an entire char 100% god mode within 2 days playing. You just play normally and you will progress always. Where's the fun of load your char with the best by just paying everything and not earning it playing it?
It all depends in what you are looking for from D3 as a game.
To me, the enjoyment of D2 came from my competative nature in PVP. I loved to come up with clever character builds and dueling strategies for the particular metagame. PVM did not really interest me nor was something that I got much enjoyment from tbh. It was simply something that I needed to do to sustain the PVP aspect (for leveling and MF). Having said that D2 was one of the best games I have ever played (including having played CS and SC:BW very competitively).
If I choose to follow the same path with D3 then I may not have much of an option but to pay for items. Considering that PVM does not interest me, with my working hours and other commitments by the time I have a fully loaded character ready for PVP I would have got over the game.
These ignorant people seem to be forgetting Diablo 2 always had Real-Money trading involved, ALOT of people used forum gold, if not the majority, All blizzard are doing is supporting it, and making it so it is done with the control of blizzard, either way it WILL happen, I for one would rather Blizzard support/control such a system so they, and the community as a whole can benefit from the outcome of Real-Money trading.
Regarding skill's, based on what Sixen said, and based on I can't really judge it without playing the game ( no one should judge the game with such fierce judgemental opinions without even playing the game/beta) Iv'e heard good things about the skill changes by people who have "played" it.
You guys are over-reacting ( what a bloody suprise ), but really..... please understand properly what is happening before you start QQing and threatening to never "buy diablo 3 or any blizzard game" Because everyone knows you will end up buying the game and there is a 90% chance that you will think back to now, and be like .... "Boy, did I over react or what? I seemed like a little whining idiot".
I'm in the same boat and am in the top U.S. earning bracket. Still, as I have learned now from experience, buying stuff does not give you the gratification of finding it. It's boring and just kills the replay-value of the game. Making choices and having to live with them does.
Combination of removal of skill points & everything being available (within a few months) on the AH/RMT kills the game for me.
Instant gratification. No choices. No consequences.
Because your forced to buy the items right? you can still farm and find the items that will give you gratification, there is still choices to make, there is still an incredible amount of customization, and dont know what your refering to with no consequences, but yet another QQ whine reply without any merit to it
This was my most anticipated game of the year. I am no longer going to buy this game or support Blizzard in any future endeavors. That's how much I hate the real money auction house.
Same. Oh I will play D3, but I won't buy it. As a matter of fact I decided to stop my WoW sub as soon as the info about real-money AH was announced. Call it QQ if you want but I dont want that type of stuff in D3.
I've been lurking the D3 forums for years, and haven't said anything. What has been announced today is a disgusting tragedy. All replay-ability has been nerfed, huge advantages have been given to players that are lazy or cheat, the greatest microtrans-crimes have been ENDORSED, and we have all been cheated and lied to. I signed up mostly to find out where the main petition to Blizzard is, so that me and my friends can sign it. Someone please point me in the right direction.
No Hostile Toggle system...
No Min/maxing character building (Stats and Skill points)...
Always online, not huge but still...
RMT Trading in game... Blizz trying to get a cut, this does not solve the problem. See EvEonline for example.
Huge disappointment. I usually buy games even if its not what I hoped for but for fun, this is like a slap in the face.
Blizzard has a amazing track record for their longevity in the software games and IPs they create. Games lasting decades, PvP that keeps them strong. This make no sense to me, has to be more to it... Just dunno how to they can backtrack from the known thus far.
Whats that you say? Your taking the RPG out of my Diablo?
But seriously, don't these changes do what they have been trying not to do and make skill choices feel meaningful? I seem to remember them making lost of changes based on that fact just togo ok you just get your 100% interchangeable skills. I miss having more passives but it might be better that I'll have to see. About the rune changes I'm still not clear on what is going on their so I'll hold my comments for that part. The real money AH is something I'll have to see in action but, I see prices being ridiculous for endgame gear. I'm sure there is more I'm not remembering but I read most of this stuff from 0200-0400 so yea...
Love the banner. I want a non-combat follower to run around with me holding a copy of my banner. We can call him a vasel and I think that would be just awesome like a flag-bearer (?) in old wars.
I thought you all hated how D2 was, and now that Blizzard is making it easier and moving on from the crappy aspects of D2 you are all getting pissed? Yup.
Did you like the release of information from the conference? The Auction House system? Runes? Post/vote here.
At first i was a bit overwhelmed and disappointed by the chances, but after reading and thinking more about it the only chance i dislike at the moment is the rune system they want to try out, but I'm sure they will just go back to the current system if it doesn't pan out, people will eventually calm down when it comes to the auction house i think, you don't need to invest any money in it to use it, i actually think it will be a positive thing,
What is the big deal surrounding the auction house? There is still an in-game currency auction house from my understanding. If you can't stand it, use the in-game auction house - like myself and many others will be doing.
It's better than all of the 3rd party websites that sell D2 items moving into D3.
Enjoy buying your chipped gems because that's all you're going to find in the poverty house.
This is all a departure from what we are all used to. I loved the impact implicated by investing points into certain trees, it felt like a real time investment. Like when I train myself to learn a skill, I invest my time in it. this is what it made me feel like. Instead I see a GuildWars copycat, a shell of a game. This is not diablo like, not at all. I can understand people spending all the points into only 1 skill because you can spam a super strong skill instead of a couple of weak ones. This is logical, in fact this is what I planned to do. However nerfing the whole system is not a solution...there must be a better way to deal with these obvious flaws.
I like restarting my characters to have different types of sorc, necro, pal. It makes me feel like a builder, constructing a toolset of characters ready to deal with different situations. With the current skill system, I only need 1 monk, 1 wiz, 1 of each to have my toolset. I mean this could be a good thing, but it all depends on the end game content. With the D2 system, you end the game and you're like :" Alright now that I made my teleporting monk build, time to make myself a nice Demon Hunter trapper". Now with the new D3 system, when you're done with your character, you can go for male or female but the builds and mechanics will essentially be the same. In the end, it's hard to say anything about all this without playing the actual game, being a classic D2 player and vet, I instinctively resist the change made to core mechanics of my beloved game.
It's sad, but I understand that it may be for the best, it's like cutting your hand because it was bitten by a diamond back rattlesnake. You don't want to do it but it has to be done!
For the trading system... I don't care. Let those cakefaces spend their money in a game they just bought 50$ (wow spending money to spend money... how ... Irconicaly moronic) while I have fun killing demons and whatnot. If they get good gear by doing that, let them, more power to the stupid. With the automatch system, they will fight equally stupid people and I will be there killing monsters and having fun enjoying the contents of my game. Seriously, you can't fix stupid, so just make a system for them and i'll even be able to profit from it. In the end, everyone is happy, I know I am.

Only thing I think is a bit crap is the 10 spot character limit. Because I like starting from the beginning multiple times to try out different strats playing the game normally.
Probably means I will end up with 2 accounts though; my *proper* account, and my restarting account for fun. No biggie. xD
Well you have a lot of money standing around for this. I would not use my money for that. Its useful but its a lot for little, especially WoW with the subscription.

I'm not buying D3. Period.
Too much of what they said is ... disgusting.

I call bullshit.
So you will buy the game twice for this?
