Gameplanet:How does their health system work, will you have to manually heal them?
Boyarsky: No, when you pick up health globes, they’re automatically healed.
Gameplanet:At no penalty to your own health?
Boyarsky: No, we really wanted to get that cooperative feel into singleplayer. It’s the same as when you’re playing multiplayer: if I pick up a health globe it heals everybody in my party equally.
So it reads (to me) that when we are playing cooperatively in a group, and one of us picks up a health globe, it heals all the players in the party for the same amount?

I believe that is how it works yes... Which would mean that they have to lower the rate at which health globes drop inverse to how big your group was to keep there from being too many health globes.
Yes indeed, this was confirmed at Blizzcon when in a party if one person gets a globe, we all benefit. Which tells me normal is going to be realllyyy easy since health orbs will be more common, and offer more hp recovery. That's okay though, as long as hell is.. Hell
So as are as the follower system is concerned, it would make sense, and is a good find man! Since this system would have you rushing for orbs to keep your follower alive instead of rushing out of battle. Hopefully this mechanic will keep it turning in D2 where you focus on keep him/her alive far to much.
On a side note, I also think leveling buffs work in the same party system, where one person levels and gains all their health and fury or w/e back, so does everyone else. This is seen in a recent video where 4 players are on the screen and one levels up, noted by a big yellow swirl, which also appears around everyone else.

Yeah, I imagine coop play is going to be different than any other game because of this mechanic. Good or bad? I don't know. But I imagine Blizzard knows what they're doing. Beta will give us a better idea of what it feels like.

not to mention that if beta shows this mechanic to be broken, it will be changed. Thats what beta is for after all, testing, and fixing stuff.
You are correct. How did I not know that? Oh wait, I know. I'm a moron.
No your not, Diablo 3 is HUGE and the News keep coming in, Diablo experts will rise once the game is like 10 years old or older.
Thanks for the save Enkeria! I had no idea that the globes would heal the party. And I thought I was relatively on top of news...
When I read that, I was like "oh that's going to be awesome! At least it will give something to do, for the players that always hover on the fringe of a battle, worried they might get hurt too badly." And since I didn't know that the information had been released already, I about dropped my coffee cup and went "oh...my....god - I have to make a post about this!"
I seem to want to find hidden meaning in almost every Blizzard post that will some how spell out "beta in june, release in july". My only excuse: I wanna play D3. Badly.

That's my worry too, about this. There are so many players from my D2 days that would just sit around the fray and not actually participate. Some let their mercs go in and take the brunt, but mostly they sat back waiting to dash in to steal the loot. Now they have a legitimate reason to hang back. I know they can't steal loot anymore - but sadly, I think there are many a player that would prefer to sit and watch, rather than help.
And I also get the feeling that running low on health might be tough with this mechanic in place. I don't think there is anything sacred about each battle being a near-death experience - I'm not a Hardcore player. However, since they have clearly stated many times that in Hell difficulty you most likely will not venture off on your own because its too hard, could mean monster's damage is too over powered. If that's the case, then I fear that each battle (with other players or not) will be close to a one or two shot instant kill on you. Since you have the chance for a steady stream of health coming in, from multiple sources, the counter to that is to make monsters hit like trucks in most battles.
More enemies, less healthglobes. That should make a huge difference. If you master a character, you may very well have a good balance once you reached HELL mode. But I dont know the details. If Hell is a difficulty, it should damn well be HELL to finish it!
