In the latest DiabloCast, Sixen said something that disturbed me greatly. I fear I wont get to sleep tonight.
While answering someone's question about 'monks being able to use huge claymores and other weird class weapon combos' he said that while playing the demo at Blizzcon there were certain gear he COULDN'T PICK UP as a wizard. I think not being able to pick up all gear would be a game-breaker. I NEED to be able to trade in D3. Did he just mis-speak or is this the case?
While I haven't listened to the last pod cast yet, I'd say I'm 99.9% certain it was a misunderstanding, a glitch in the game, or something the Diablo team set in the game for the demo.. Not being able to pick up certain items as a certain class would make absolutely ZERO sense. Most of the items you pick up aren't even to put directly onto your character, but instead to trade, sell, scavenge, or give to another one of your characters through the inter-character chest. It would make no sense what so ever.
“We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about.” - Albert Einstein
i dont see why you cant... you pick up something a wizzard needs and your a monk... some wizzard picks up something for a monk... you trade... you can pick up all loot
It must have been a bug. They have said in the past when announcing the "see your own loot only" mechanic that if something drops for a different class your friend is playing you'd be able to trade it to them. So unless they changed this, which I doubt, it may have just been a bug. It could also have been they weren't ready for those items to be seen.
I'm pretty sure it was a bug if it happened. We'll be able to pick up everything, just not use it. With a trade system to be revealed, it makes sense to be able to do just that.
If I remember correctly he said something about it just being a limitation of the demo. I'm sure you'll be able to pick up and trade all kinds of junk just as you would expect.
Just a misunderstanding, I'll have to go back and listen to what I said exactly, but what I meant was that you just can't wear it. So yes, you can pick it up, it just can't be equipped.
