I will definitely check it out, and I always try to win, but I won't take it very seriously. Well as long as there is some sort of PvE endgame. D2 it was all about finding better items from grinding bosses. D3 seems like there may be random quests with guaranteed drops or something.
i hope 2 be in a high pvp guild/clan, or one with my mates like we did in our wow peak at 2200+. I play to win, but also for fun. PvP is the best. Pve is the same stuff each time, where as pvp its constantly changing and evolving, and players find new ways to build their characters to beat the life out of each other.
The challenge is the best in pvp. I'm also a passive rager. I just sigh and go get some ice coffee when im having a bad run.
Obviously 1st things 1st. Lvl 60 and some decent gear
I'll probably make a softcore Wizard to do PvP. Will take some work to gear her up and all, get the gems and stuff, but i want to play to win of course. Not that i'll mind losing, but i'll aim to dominate! Maybe play with a few friends as a set team.
I see more diversity than I thought I would in this topic lol. I figured everyone would be between casual and semi competitive. What's weird is that I see a lot of fans saying they won't even give PvP a try, which I understand 100% since at first that's how I was. D2 PvP was very frustrating, and put me off from any form on PvP in future games. Now though after seeing a good amount of videos and QnA, I'm really excited, mostly due to that Blizzard is really putting a lot of effort into making it a full fledged feature. Also the fact that's it's completely separate from PvE is.. Amazing <3. Fact is at one point or another PvE is going to get to me, it be from lack of things to do, or frustration. At that point is where PvP will shine in my experience, as a way to still play my character, but in a completely new way.
What would blow my mind is if they added mini games such as in SC2, like tower defense, or waves of enemies such as in Gears of War Horde mode, CoD MWF2 Spec Ops, CoD Black Ops Nazi Zombies, Or Halo Reach Fire Fight. Maybe for tower defense you could place various enemies on the field to defend against attacking NPCs such as followers, occasionally a boss would come along and brake your defense up as you fend it off. It could be fun to place as the bad guys :P. You're buildings, represented by the placeable monsters, would be in tiers of strength and be bought via points gained from completed rounds. Again, just a wish and another reason I hope Blizzard chooses to hold the game until 2012.

Thanks Caniroth for the awesome sig!
I will check it out. I don't want to say no to anything I've never tried before :).
Edit:
Too many negatives? Ok, let me rephrase that: I'll only say no to it when I've tried it.
