Okay okay, before you start pulling out my hair because you've seen this topic all over different types of forums, but i have to ask it.
Does any one think that the player limit of 4 for each game is set a little to low?
Personally i think they should just raise it up to 5 players in each game, allowing one of each class to play at a time.
Since Blizzard spends so much time on creating the characters, not allowing one of them to be able to be playable really takes something away from the game. Raising it to the previous number of 8 in D2, would be ridiculously to much for this fast past, spamming skills, destory everything on sight, kind of game(So much would be going on you wont even be able to see your character).
I will play singleplay ALOT. In Diablo II we played 2 players when I was lucky, since I didnt know many that liked the game. But since I'm here on Diablofans due to the DIII, and got some new buddies!
I voted 4, Diablo 2 was fun in that 8 players made for a great big chaotic mess, but sometimes the action got messy and confusing. Not to mention 8 high level players could glide through anything with ease. I want Hell in Diablo 3 to be difficult, even for 4 level 60 players.
Right now this is my favorite video demonstrating for 4 players is perfect. The parts where the Monk, Barb, Witch Doc, and Wizard are all on the screen fighting at once is beautiful, and yet still easy to follow. Watch it full screen in 720p for the best results.

Player limit ammount should be the same as the ammount of avalible classes, its that simple no arguments about it.
Care to explain? I can see lore wise maybe, though I admittedly don't follow the lore in the slightest, it would make sense for all the classes to be there throughout. Other than that I can see the inevitable 7 classes being a bit much.

4 is the max. Any more than that, and I think we'd have a hard time distinguishing whats going on in the battle. Even right now as it is, things are really messy.
in terms of player min to classes available, I like that no matter what at least on archetype will be missing. I hope that this means people will have to account for who they are playing with when engaging in combat and use tactics that complement who they are playing with. But that is personal opinion and saying that 'I think this so it should be all anyone needs' is quite pompous. I do, however, tend to agree with the other arguments I heard from Blizzard and others that 4 players is optimum.

If that made sense to you, Bravo! I think I even confused myself...
It is easier for them to balance the game if it is limited to 4 players. Less variables with 4 players than say with 8, 16, 32 or whatever amount and with 4 you can still play with a few friends and have a fun time.

I can live with the 4 player limit but i'd prefer 5. One of each class would be nice and i don't think it would be too hard to balance. Of course that would create an issue with future expansions that will definitely include more classes to the game.
Either way i'm fine with it, as long as every class can contribute to the party equally.
If it would be a little problem balance wise then I'd say more than a 4 player cap.. I mean, anyone can make a 4 player capped game if they wanted to (if it works like D2).. Hell, they could even have the default set at 4.
I have lots of close IRL friends which most of them are very likely to play D3.. And i'd hate to have to split us into 2-3 groups..
Besides, like someone mentioned above me, the screen-resolution will be much higher than in D2 so that helps to clear the clutter.. Not to mention that the graphic-effects (spells) are much smoother and detailed and will be easier to distinguish.
Larger resolution might not clear up the clutter and the action. If the players are bunched together it can still be cluttered. At least you will not see all the item clutter since that will be likely less now since they changed the item drop method.
Also more of the melee skills look like they added more effects as well.

Blizzard thinks 4 players is the sweet spot. Since they are the only ones playing the game you just gotta have faith that they know what they're doing. Plus I agree with a lot of the reasons people listed on why 4 players seems like enough.
I honestly don't get why people wouldn't want to make this decision when they create the game themselves, and have the power to make it a larger party if they want.
Are the folks in favor of 4 also happy there's no LAN and you need an internet connection to install the game?
When did the console mindset take over in PC gamers, anyhow?
Maybe 10, D3 have PVP arena, 10 players would be good.
ZOMG 10 players would be rather messy don't ya think? If you look on the first page of this thread posted a video; in parts of that video there is a full party of 4, consisting of a Monk, Barb, Witch Doc, and Wizard. So only 2 of those 4 are casters. Casters tend to have bigger, more "messy" effects to their skills, and even with just 2 of them the game at times got very confusing, I suggest you watch the video in 720p full screen to see what i mean. The Mony does hake a good mess himself with his exploding palm lol.

I understand why they like 4, but i have an army of about 20 mates who i have played many online games with(wow was where we met in a guild) and we are all keen to make a d3 clan however limiting 4 to a game kind of chops us up a lot. i can see that being a massive annoyance to any clan/guild who wish to play together.
8 worked well in my opinion for playing in clans together.
I voted 8. To be honest, I want 8 just for the option of having up to 8 players for trade, socializing, or to mess around. Without those features though, I'd think 6 is a better option as a maximum than 4.
A lot of people say that playing with more than 4 people is quite hectic and chaotic, but isn't that part of the fun? Even if you don't like playing with more than 4 people, I'm sure Blizzard would let you limit the number of players just like they did in D2 when creating a game. It's the option of having up to 6 or 8 players that I think should be the issue. If playing with more than 4 people seems to make the game less of a challenge because of skill spam, just have the difficulty of the game ramp up more quickly(exponentially) so that a 8 player game like 4 times the difficulty of a 4 player game. Why not? To be honest, I'd love to play a Hell version of Hell! With 8 people tackling super buff hordes of monsters.
I have quite a few RL friends that I played D2 with, and we would often have 6 or so players in a game to progress together or to do our own thing in separate parts of the game; it was fun and a lot easier to talk to one another. Not to mention, easier to ask for help as well!
So, personally, I think 4 is too few players as a maximum. I wouldn't mind playing with 4 people as a maximum, but I'd like the option of more.

Good point! Some one mention above that this diablo 3 is trying to lean towards console gaming. Honestly I'd understand if diablo 3 did come out for ps3/xbox 360, then 4 players would be Sustaining. What blizzard has said many times about Diablo, is that "nothing beats bashing monsters with your friends" and most of us are going to be playing with R/L friends or in-game friends.

I agree 1000 percent I think that's its kinds stupid that one of each class can't b in one game it really takes from gameplay....I understand what tghey are tryin to do with the whole 4 player but they can make it equaly as hard with 5 players I have plenty of frikends who want to plat and different classes I would like to play with as many as possible and as many combinagtons as well forgive spellin at work on phone
