It made me lose all interest in the game PVP wise.
Yeah, it's click to move and lots of talent combinations to "balance," melee vs ranged, and 5 classes etc...
But the parts that worry me most: "blizzard" and "arena" and "rewards"
It isnt the same [failure "balance"] team as wow, but it still feels to me that diablo3 pvp was ruined the second they announced arena. I guess at least there's no healing so that's 1 less crap factor...
Arena seems alot better than D2's PvP so im all for it. lol.

I hate Arena. Its the most boring thing they could come up with, I see. They better not ****ing screw with the PvE balance just because their shiny Arena bullshit is never balanced.
D2's PvP had flaws, but its like the only thing they can go to is Arena. I'm sorry, I wouldn't laugh at WoW today nearly as much if Arena never existed.
Don't think I particularily care in the end: I always considered Diablo a PvE game. At best, I just don't want that crap affecting PvE in any way. WoW's balance of Arena ruined my fun like 10 times in a row in PvE.
I can still remember the excessive whining over this and that in PvP. And then they changed it. And it just made my PvE worse. Its like nobody gave a shit about that.
You still have the broken system in D2, you're more than welcome to it if you feel the changes are not to your liking.
If the classes/skills aren't balanced and the "best" rewards are awarded from doing [and winning] arena then in my mind diablo 3 will be just like the never-ending crapfest pvp that is wow, probably putting it on par with D2.
They *had* the opportunity to create something unique and cool, but instead they chose something broken that hasn't worked well in the past. This is why it seems pvp is ruined, and co-op/"pve" might be the only "multiplayer" worth doing if the drops are good...

Anyway. I have nothing else to add.
In WoW the PvP is allways marginalized by the PvE one. Raid is and allways will be the number one priotiry in WoW. In WoW the balance priority is:
25m Raid > 10m Raid > 5x5 Arena > Random Stuff like 5men, soloing/farming, 2x2 arena, battleground > 1x1 Duels.
I can't imagine wtf was done for your PvE get ruined in WoW. PvE was allways the priority... Depending on how D3 high end turns out, the priority can be either PvE or PvP. Specially because PvE unbalance is not frustrating at all - a weaker build is just a greater challenge. 99% of the builds exist by thenself, you dont have to follow efficiency criteria. Unless you do one or two characters (Blizzsorc>Hammer) to search for items to build your random weaker ones.
I think the arena will be a blast. From what I read, the rewards aren't in the form of items, but rather in titles and stuff? Let me check again...
"...but PvP differs in that it isn't an ideal venue for gathering new weapons and armor. Your rewards for shedding blood in the arena are purer than that: bragging rights, the joy of sending friends old and new to their swift and inglorious deaths, and points that represent how far you've progressed on the path to fame and glory."
Sounds great to me. I think it would be okay if that certain items were available through PvP points, but the best items should definitely be gathered via mob loots. It doesn't matter. I think this PvP will lead to hours of fun. As if I could ever get sick of PvE, though...

A belief in no God is a belief in everything. It is a belief in the unfathomable number of events of blind chance required for every living thing to be here.
As of current, they claim you wont get weapons or armor from doing it which is a relief.
But, it mentions stuns/slows/counters/pvp talents/3v3 bracket "balance."
Translation: as bad of pvp as wow...the whole fighting mechanics are based on the world of warcraft pvp failure system, on paper at least. 5 classes are less than 10 but there will be more talents to deal with.
Reeeeeaaaalllly hoping it doesnt turn into a "you cannot do that while stunned...dead"
may i remind of the skill "Bash" on Diablo II that did nothing but stun? charge? smite? some items had knockback and other such effects aswell. so it's not as bad as you think. and WoW PvP isnt too bad either, there are tournaments out there for it.

Diablo 2 had arenas. They were called the edge of town and they weren't fun. Majority of D2 PvP took place there, too.
Read the blue post, they said they're not going to focus much balance on arenas because it's just an outlet for you to kill your friends. I honestly think you're just trolling, looking at your post count and join date.
You should read the post saying the arena balance will be focused on 3v3, or my 3rd post on the compilation. It's "not meant to be super competitive" but it does say 3v3 balance. If it's just something to just mess around in, why are they spending time on rewards/titles and designating pvp talents? This is just what they have announced and it could change in the future.
My account was created 3/25/2008 at curse but i never posted in the forums so it says im new, check it out if you want.
I just want to see what other people think.
Arena in D3 could be fun, wonderful, perfect, and balanced with skill prevailing over class choice. I wish.

To be short, I was an apparently overpowered paladin receiving extremely unnecessary nerf because of PvP.
You have absolutely no idea how heart breaking it was to see the big numbers I dealt become fraction of what they were. Instead of doing burst damage to monsters which was extremely useful in its own but not overpowered, I started doing mini hits all over.
There's also some other changes I just forgot, its been a while. But I pretty much stopped playing after a while. I'm working enough as it is for my character, they update the game, and it gets weaker, without deserving it PvE wise. Yes, much fun.

"The PvP reward system will be focused on achievements, ranks and titles for your character."
That doesn't take a whole lot of effort; it's not like designing core mechanics for the game or something. As for designated PvP talents, some people like to PvP and want skills that will be conducive to that. Having a few "PvP Skills" doesn't make PvP super competitive.

"As of today those are the only rewards (along with the bragging rights of beating down other people online) we know of, **but more are to be revealed.**"
We dont know all of the rewards, but they can always change their mind. I bet there will be arena tournaments.
It's not directly designating core mechanics but rather indirectly it's possible to have to nerf a PVE talent to "fix" PVP which affects PVE.
You still have the broken system in D2, you're more than welcome to it if you feel the changes are not to your liking.
So explain me, how does the simple addition of a dedicated pvp area completely fix the so called ''broken'' system in D2? How does that differs from a normal dueling game?
Yeah, it don't, because dueling wasn't broken in the first place, the only people who whines about suck at it, and people who suck at it are also going to whine on how broken its is D3, and now(apparently), we don't have the option to have a good ol FFA mayhem, no more pwning 7 people in one go.
Anyhow, the idea of a organized rank with matchmaking is a improvement, i just hope they have the matchmaking improved by then, because if we have to wait 2-3 mins to get matched its going to fail.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.

It's organized and you don't have a way overleveled sorceress sitting outside the entrance spamming frozen orbs at it, waiting for any victims.

I only ever dueled in hell games, everyone was overleveled/overgeared at that point, about the entrance sitting, heres a secret, waypoint! Don't let it out tho, not many people know about it. And my memory may fail me, but didn't D2 had a lvl restriction system of some sort, to prevent lvl 99's from stomping newbs?
because if we have to wait 2-3 mins to get matched its going to fail.
And tell me how quickly you managed to organize a legitimate 3v3 battle in D2. Wait, you DID do team battles in D2 pvp didn't you?
Why yes i did team battles, most of then were 2x6, 2x5, and a few times i had 1x7(some didn't end that well), anyway, you totally missed my point on this, in D2 if i want to duel i enter a a duel game and get right into action, no waiting line, in D3 i will have to wait a good 3 minutes to get it on? Every single time? Ops, thats a fail.

So you're basically assuming that it will take 3 minutes each and every time to get into a pvp match? That isn't necessarily what will happen. It depends on the number of people in the queue in the first place and how many individual arenas the host server can have running at one time, as long as lots of people go into queues and the server can host a theoretical unlimited number of arenas then you're good.
Anyways there shouldn't be this much hate over pvp in d3. It doesn't even matter, the game is ridiculously PVE orientated. and that's all there is to it. And quite a lot of people are making references to D2, when that game is not only old and pretty broken (though fun), but wasn't made like D3 is being made. A lot more money, time (oh the time), effort and overall polish is being put into the game. I don't see how the addition of arenas could possibly ruin the game.

I never said arenas would ruin the game, I'm actually looking forward to its rank system and the matchmaking also, however the later does worry me, mostly because it looks like the same system they have in SC2, on the higher tiers the game does take a while to match you up (about 2 minutes on average here), and most the time you end playing the same people over and over.
Thats fine(i guess) for SC2, but in a fast paced game like diablo, where duels end in minutes, if not seconds, a 2-3 minute wait is pain in the ass.
