I think he meant that it's not artwork; it's (other than the Barbarian and UI) a real game. I think his comment was directed at kgydkgyd, who said that no PC could run that. That's why he brought up his PS3 running games that look twice as good as D3, including the game in that screenshot.
Execly. Thank you.
Maybe it isn't "fair" to compare but still... C'mon did you saw that DL Tomb Raider game that cost like 9 US$ in the PSN ? A fucking download game has about the same graphics as Blizz All mighty decade opening release.
And it's not even a matter of potency as i said before. C'mon, look at Wiz new set. Now look at everything we had from D1 and D2. Compere. People must be blind to not see the enormous difference in style.
I don't get where the whole comparison between WoW and D3 graphics comes from. I mean, I really don't see it. They're two completely different games, one isn't even in isometric view. You obviously can't compare the two by color scheme alone, let alone graphical capability.
This obviously isn't a debate about whether the graphics are detailed enough. Now, the general census is that there is actually color in the game now. Okay... guys, go look at pics of the Harem from D2. I mean, look at all the colorful tiles, look at the colorful tapestries, look at the colorful designs on the floor. I don't see anybody complaining about that, but you're willing to come out and bark up a tree that has no business being barked up at all. And, aside from that, this isn't even a debate; this is a minority of people who don't get how graphics have evolved over the years. Do you know why D2 looks the way it does? It's because the graphics back in 1999 couldn't hold a candle to the graphics of today. If somebody from Blizzard North said, "hey guys, let's make the game look really detailed, 3-D, and the blood actually conforms to the objects around it instead of puddling on the floor", the other developers would've sent that fucker to an asylum.
The graphics are great, guys. And no, I'm not an obedient sheep who just takes what their masters give it, I'm somebody who plays a lot of games and has come to love what D3 is turning into.
Zoom in from the isometric view and what you get ? A WoW with a Diablo theme. You have to be blind to not see the resemblance.

So far I don't have many complaints about it. The helmet is a little funky, that's all. But, that's something that is judged better from the game play view, which is the way I think they should be revealing these armors.
So you know, it's not a green set. It's normal plate mail. At least that's what Scyber said in the reveal thread:
For those of you who don't know, these sets that they are showing us are not sets like in Sigon's or Immortal King's. They are simply the reguar armor you get like leather or plate.
With that in mind, I think it's perfectly fine. But I'm not planning on playing a Wizard, so I don't care all that much. You'll probably see me make a fuss when they show something for the barbarian.
I hope someone asks about increasing texture details at blizzcon.
Ya! that's something I'm also interested in. I also hope they up the details a notch or 2. I like the style but I agree with most of you about the bland and plain graphics at certain spots.
I hope someone asks about increasing texture details at blizzcon.
they will never do that, they know there are millions of people there in usa and china with crappy 5 year old computers and if they increase texture details they know that they wont buy the game. you just have to get used to it and maybe keep a very very little hope for a change in retarded colors like I do.

Having the option to increase textures doesn't effect lower end machines.
When are people going to realize this? There is a texture video option in every game I've played. Set it to low if you have to.
The main problem is with blizzard in particular is that they don't even bother putting in higher standard textures.
But how do you know what the best textures will look like in the finished product? Will there be any other similar (non blizz) game which manages to present better quality graphics? I don't think the best settings will be much lower than what the average computer specifically built for gaming can handle smoothly.

Why would they show off video footage that's already been released and gameplay demo's at blizzcons that didn't already have the highest settings available?
Oh I definitely agree. Often I find myself playing games on lower settings than my PC can handle, just to prevent every last bit of possible lag. All I care about is addictive gameplay and replayability.
That beig said, I still don't get your first argument. If they increase the best graphics, people with average pc's can still pick a lower setting (which termendously increases performance). I'm not saying that they should, but if they did I don't see how it would have any negative consequences. Unless they don't add the option to lower settings, but that would be quite archaic.

There's also WoW. Designed for those people with 5 year old computers (which aren't that crappy btw).
WoW looks much better than Diablo III right now and I find that somewhat ridiculous. I understand physics and stuff may put pressure on the engine but there was also a time interval during which they could at least approach the texture size WoW has.
Graphics don't make a game.
Style does. Believe it or not, how the game looks makes a game quite a bit, and that is true for any game, be it photorealistic or something like Minecraft.
Maybe you were happy with the muddy look of DII but it took a lot from the game for me, and why I ended up playing games like Sacred 2 so much. Look matters and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it mattering, it's part of the game like everything else.
Not all people are talking about the TECHNICAL side of things, you know.
And not all people want the sepia filter.
Style is precisely something that's lacking in DIII and half of it has nothing to do with low end computers, the other half is them using unreasonably blurry textures which I hope is for testing purposes only.
It can, but then you force everyone to buy an entirely new rig just to run a game. So it's not worth their while on a business end.
And furthermore:
GRAPHICS DO NOT MAKE A GAME.
GAMEPLAY.
MAKES.
A GAME.
I'm so tired of people bitching and whining about visuals. You want the best graphics? TAKE A FUCKING WALK OUTSIDE!
Actually, you know what really bugs me? People aren;t even bitching about the graphics, they're bitching about the colour palette pretty much. You guys are asking for a game with a Sepia filter. That's it. Brown and grey is what you're asking for.
Now look around you. Go outside, take a walk, come back and tell me this:
When the fuck was the last time that the worlds known colour scheme consisted solely of various tones of black and brown?
Never.
And yet you're insisting that shades of brown and black are 'realistic'?
There wasn't any green light in any places I've been, except some discos and horror theme parks, now that isn't realistic either.

I finally understand where all your hate comes from, son. It must suck if each time you look at D3, you are reminded of discos and horror theme parks.
Don't worry, they'll teach you other colors of the rainbow once you get past kindergarten. You might get overwhelmed a bit at first because there are lots of colors but study hard and you'll get there.
I'm simply saying that torchlights don't produce green light. Sky is blue, sun is yellow, grass are green and torchlight is a mix of yellow and red. Not green. If you seriously can't see my point then you are really retarded, no offense meant, not even slightly.

I've arranged an appointment for you with the therapist. That fixation with the green light is causing you to become paranoid and aggressively retarded.
No offense meant of course. I just very deeply care about you, son, and the special school you go to costs a lot to me and your mom. We don't want to see you waste your education away by hating randomly unnecessary stuffs.
I haven't seen green lights IRL tbh (do not recall any), but I did see them in a couple movies and games. And, personally, I'm a huge fan of green lights, specifically green gas lamps and stuff. Too bad the way Diablo III does it is... totally wrong.
THERE'S NO FUCKING SOURCE.
If you put a green light in there GIVE ME A LAMP THAT EMITS IT GODDAMMIT. (this makes the developers think where to place them in the dungeon, which results in higher quality lighting)
Otherwise it's just really fake ambient light and you know it and ambient light shouldn't be green...
