No, I am saying that you are refuting an idea by using a mechanic which is not even in this game. I would never say that Diablo 3 shouldn't have health globes because there are town portals and potions. If you want to speculate on PvP, that is fine but you are not. You are referring to a system in D2 to argue something in D3. See the difference?
I'm not speculating, i would be if said anything about the mythical ''pvp game'' with 1000000 player slots per room, or the utopic arena, that instantly matchs you with skilled players/teams.
I'm talking about what we have right now, to engage in a duel both players need to hostile each other, and the current game mechanics supports only 4 people, if you think that 2x2 match ups sounds exciting, then thats your opinion.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
Again, you are explaining how pvp worked in D2 and the problems that will cause for D3. You can't talk about how things will work in D3 based off of information from D2. The games will not be duels of 2v2 because this is not how pvp will work in D3. So, the 4 player cap does not have issues with pvp as we know it.
And I never said that you were speculating on pvp. In fact, I said you should speculate to prove your point further rather than just how pvp worked in D2.
Four is probably a good number of players, but I think that it would be cool if the cap was 5, so we could potentially see all five classes fighting at once.
I think people should play the game before saying that there would be too many effects on screen at once. The gameplay will probably "slow down" a bit for people once they play the game for a while. That will probably make all the abilities and effects on screen seem more organized and less flashy.

Destiny is no matter of chance, it is a matter of choice
And based of what you telling me that ''the games will not be duels of 2x2''? Just because its ''going to work differently''? Seriously, man, its basic math... 4 players = 4 player ffa or 2x2 games, i really don't get what you trying to say here.
And how different you think pvp can get from what we had D2?
As we know it(we know shit) pvp is limited to 4 players only, so yes, 4 players is bad.

I would be EXTREMELY disappointed if it was a hard coded limit. If the community as a whole decides that 4 is the ideal limit than most games that people create will be made with a 4 player limit. But if the time comes that for some reason you would like to have most players in the game then you should be able to...
With d2 every so often a bunch of my friends and I would host a mini lan at on of our houses with 6-10 people most of the time. There have been times when we spent entire days lanned up playing d2. Its actually not difficult to be cooperative with 6+ people. And in d2 there were stacks of times when our guild would get on vent and we would have full 8 player games and everyone would be well coordinated with what was happening. For me it would just be a major disappointment if 4 was hard coded.
In d2 I rarely even considered joining games with less than 5 players in then unless I knew that game would fill up. I just liked having more people there, there was a lot more interaction. A good example would be blood runs. You may join a blood run with 8 people in the game, but for the entire run (apart from the start when everyone is at town) you may only see 3-4 of the players. Does that mean that the game would have been the same if the other 5 players left? No, the group as a whole was a lot more productive with the extra people, even if they did not all interact with each other.
The reason for this is because different people have different spontaneous ideas. One person in the server thinks "oh i will go left and clear that area", another will say "i want to go right", another will say "I will follow this guy" another will say "I want to stay behind and be safe". As a result the group splits up due to these spontaneous thoughts, but with an 8 player server it is likely that several people have the same spontaneous thought which causes smaller subgroups within the party. As a result, u get 3 people going left, 3 right, 2 in the middle for example. So even though there are 8 players in the server, you end up interacting with an manageable amount of people ( 2-4). I am afraid that with a 4 player limit, everyone may have different spontaneous thoughts during the game and you may end up not interacting with anyone at all for the whole run.
"In Diablo II, it was extremely rare to find an eight-person game where all eight people were playing together"
This argument is completely ridiculous. Think of every single mainstream type of game in d2:
Cows, Chaos runs, blood runs, sanctuary runs, baal runs, pk games and many more. All of these are examples of 8 player parties working together.
Honestly? It should only support 3 players per game IMO, for PvM anyway... the game just loses too much of its "darkness" and team oriented gameplay when there is too many people out there. If the game have too many people then they would need some DPS meter and other WoW bs stuff just to make sure everyone is doing their job right.
IMHO I think 5 is ATLEAST what we should have so we can have 1 of every class i mean i knoooo that you most likly wont BUT you should atleast have the chance. But I did choose 8 because mostly I have 10+ friends getting D3 when it comes out and I would ATLEAST like to play with half of them when it comes out....
As for as PvE I say 5, one for each class and on more of a personal note, i have a lot of friends who are going to be playing so I would like to play with as many as I could.
But as for PvP I would say 6 or 8 because 1v1 and 2v2 is fun but back in d2 days, those 4v4 we're so fun.
My opinion is although Diablo 2 had 8 slots for one game in multiplayer it did make it sort of chaotic but that's what makes it even more awesome and more fun. Yet some of them probably wouldn't even be fighting or they wouldn't stay with the group. Making it at least 6 slots I would think would seem reasonable. 4 slots is just not enough to have full out fun ... as to the topic I hope they insert party mic chat! because it would be more easy to communicate with the party then typing when your trying to kill monsters.
I think it should have 8+, limited only by computer performance. If people decide 4 is better, let them have a CHOICE to lower the limit, instead of forcing the 4 on everyone because a few people at Blizzard feel it's better.
