I must be blind, or I watch outdated D3 game play videos / screenshots, or people are crazy
I see a lot of complaints about D3 graphics looking candy coated, but im not seeing it,
yeah I hate W O W candy a$$ graphics too, and if Diablo 3 graphics looked similar to W O W graphics, id be raising hell,
but they dont look a thing like it, nor do they look candy coated, I dont know what people are tripping out about, the closest game ive playd that the graphics resemble is a game called Neverwinter Nights, and even then it doesnt look the same.
Sure it has flashy spell effects, wtf would you expect a spell to look like?, but the graphics themselves look semi dark, not too colorful, so I dont know what people are complaining about...
its more realistic looking than D2, so whats the big deal?
I just ask that the attack animations look better than in the videos ive seen
Graphics look fine to me; way better than D2 (and they should). Diablo graphics have never been state of the art anyway; designed so that you don't need a Kray supercomputer to run the game. Plus the game's only half done; I'm sure there will be further improvements to the graphics..
The only time I saw someone complain was on a comment on a youtube video saying the graphics suck for diablo 3, and I told him off but people who complain about the graphics need to get over it I mean before the games out they will probably upgrade the graphics a tiny bit or maybe not im fine with how they are they are great
Have you checked the sandstorm effect they added to the desert area? it's gorgeous
This man just look at the monks gameplay the sandstorm is a beaut and not only that skills are phenomenal, The only thing im hating about diablo 3 right now is when you hit a monster it makes a squishing sound. I personally would've like screeches and screams to come from the monster to show its painful agony of having a knife gutting him but i guess squishing sounds are good enough for now.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
Act 2 is taking a very different direction that I appreciate. The difference is grit. Some of those early dungeons show overly smoothed textures on clean dungeon floors, in act 2 we now have that touch of detail that was missing.
IDK I think this is going to go like Starcraft 2. That started off looking kinda plasticy, but ended up looking completely faithful with a few tweaks. I'm betting D3 is heading this direction as well, despite Blizzard's earlier attempt to defend their art style. Yes some of the proportions will probably remain slightly cartoony, but I expect textures and colors to come more in line.

Took the words right out of my mouth. In any case, from what I remember, the Diablo III graphics for the Act II demo were incredible. One can only imagine what the final product is going to be like...
Just remember, the act 2 screens are newer for the most part. That grit may be there now and we just dont know it yet.
^^On top of that they said the further u go the darker grittier more horrid then ever before. they want us to see the change from a peacefull 20 years to TERROR RAWRRR lol sry
When the game was announced people were complaining about this, saying that D3 looked way to ''wowlish'' and not ''gorish, gothiclish, diablolish'' or whatever. That happened here too, a user made a quite hilarious gif with a dark horsemen and a unicorn, picturing what he expected and what he got. I'm sure theres some old posts somewhere.
There was even a petition to change the art, i think it managed more than 50,000 signatures.
The graphics seemed fine to me from the start, but i think this is what OP is referring to.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
There are people who expected better from a fantastically rich company working on a highly-anticipated game to be released in 2010-2011.
Personally, I find it sad that frickin' Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light looks 60x more like Diablo III than does Diablo III, which is instead using an evolution of the Blizzard Irvine art style that World of WarCraft popularized. Yay.

‘I'M NOT LEAVING UNTIL WE ALL HAVE AIDS!’—The importance of calling them ‘mercenaries.’
What's sad is isn't that a downloadable only title?
Anyway like I said, Act 2 is looking decent now, I think they will go back and polish act 1 to a similar standard. Hell you just throw a filter on their existing textures and you're halfway there.
