I have never been a fan of PVP. Because in order to do PVP you have to best players with equal or better equipment. And I'm not one to sit there collecting players ears. You killed someone. So what. There's really no reward for it and the only thing you lose is gold. There's really no thrill in it because everyone has Teleport or they are able to kill in a hit to a few hits. I find it really irritating and pointless. For PVP to appeal to me it'd have to be more rewarding. Even a high-score board would be better than nothing.
So that just leaves me with PVE, pretty much the main point of the game, the actual story and rewarding monster/boss fights. To me a game is rated on two aspects. The plot/story line. And the multi-player system. For example I always loved Halo/Call of Duty for their type of multi-player. And it's PVP, which appeals to me in those games, but PVP doesn't really fit in a Diablo styled game. Unless, of course, there's a point to it.

I think PvE is awesome at first. Play thru the game get used to it. etc etc. then once you are comfortable with the game and all move on to PvP but then you might be starting a little late. Because im sure some people are going to start PvP asap. But it all works out for me doin PvE first.
PvE is more the person who likes to get a feel for the character and to have fun playing through and learning the story. PvP is more of a do quest/sidequests get money equips and then dominate the shit out of others with the best gear and build. Hopefully Blizz actually makes a seperate pvp area or something where those who like pvp can enjoy and newcomers can try so that none of that grieving bullshit happens again.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
PvE. I love single/co-op there isn't too many things I enjoy about gaming than sharing experiences with your friends. There is way more teamwork and strategy involved than in PvP, it makes you think more. About others and less about yourself, its cool
And overall the times I've had PvE are way more enjoyable, and less likely to meet annoying 13 year olds who piss me off, who you just want to gank over and over to teach them a lesson (haha).
PvP is usually fun at first but gets old fast

"So you have come here for information? I have some for you..."
Somehow I just can't enjoy playing against other players in computer games. It doesn't matter which game, but I always prefer to fight against AI. Maybe it's because I'm no expert in gaming. Maybe it's because I simply enjoy talking with each other on a friendly, tactical basis. I don't know, but that's how I roll
I don't think PvP is the only way to crush people. Doing that is as much about prestige and presence as it is nailing someone to the Blood Moore with your EBOTDCB. When you're decked out in hard-earned, godly gear, it sends a message. I know my p Griff's with a 5/5 lite die did. That only goes so far, of course.
Beyond that, I think there is something to be said for just being there to help people. I think it's a blend of PvM and the socialization of PvP. Do favors for people and they usually will return the favor. You make friends, and before you know it, you have no problem finding a rush, or someone to help you level, or someone to lend you that extra HR for your Infinity. If you invest your heart in to other people, it often gives you a position of both prestige and leadership, even if you aren't wrapped up in the beaurocracy of a clan.
I enjoyed that more than PvM or PvP, if I were to be honest.

This is true. Make good friends and be a part of a community is, sometimes, more important then the very game.
Thats why a game should focus uppon, above all, make people closer. For some reason i never made friends playing coop in D2... everythings is to frenetical, people join and leave your game and you don't even know their nicks.
In PvP, after some matchs in the same room ppl started to chat about all kinds of stuff, and with time you start to see the same people on the rooms. I kno, sometimes ppl just get too psyched and start to curse everyone, but be sportive. It's the emotion, sometimes those people say it and 2 mins later are laughing with you xD
To me you need both just like most of you said. I love PvE...but it gets boring so I will want to PvP... but you always love the story especially Diablo. I have played WoW... I am sorry not my thing....And I know "You got to get to 80 to really play the game" I call BS you should be intrested in a game from level 1-80. We all have game we dont like tho right?
Like I said...I think you really need both to have a real effective game.

BTW BEST POST OUT THERER.
I am so happy there are a few who think like that. That is what it is saposed to be.
i find it weird that nobody here mentions that they like to play with people they already know in real life. i was never into the "people i only know online" thing.
HAHA thats all i do is play with my roomates and friends. They are overall talking about making freinds over the game thats always a blast.

Sry but my real life friends don't play Diablo. They keep changing from game to game and most don't even like games :/
But i play D2 coop with my brothers in tcp/ip. It's fun for a while but we get bored real fast and (you guys gonna kill me) we keep going back to wow XD My bro kinda pro in wow while i'm avarage (on 2x2 we allways loose because of me D:).
Once in a while some guys on my town reunite to play PvP championships on D2 tcp/ip. Since it's SP characters, people just pick the items they want with third partys. It's kinda fun since everyone hav equal gear, a shame that people are extremely noobsh and i allways win (they don't know any tecnic, just keep spaming stuff in your direction lolol).
You get your best gear set-up and use your best skill.
Very little skill involved- no offense to PvP players out there.
But it's near impossible to compare PvP quality of diablo with games like Tekken/street fighter or any sports game out there that pits you against a human/CPU opponent.
You have combos/strategies to learn, ways to block, good reflexes and good timing.
This is what I call true (gaming) skills/PvP. Diablo just hasn't that focus in this department- which is quite understandable seeing as it was designed for PvE mostly.
And I never understood why you would want to kill other players when there are demons standing around.
I guess for some people. it must be exciting to beat another human opponent- but there are way better games for that.
For me Diablo is for PvE. If I want real PvP, I go look for the games that bring these very goods to the table.
