As a result from our 101 ways to die thread, it got me thinking...do we even want that to be in the game?
Wouldn't it just be extremely frustrating to go all the way through a massive dungeuon just to be killed in one hit? I suppose there could be a checkpoint just before the boss, but then what happens if he is almost dead and decides to 1 hit kill you? Will his attack be easily noticable and dodgable? Will he regenerate health after you die?
The boss kills are a special animation that are triggered when the boss would have killed you anyway. Just instead of being hit by a normal attack you get a special animation. They are not 1 hit kills.

People loosed the grasp of what gore is. Explicity gore and gross does not add nothing to the game but enthusiast to retarded kids.
Huh? Who says the point of the special animation kills is to add more gore to the game?

The one hit K.O.'s would be after you reached a certain amount of health and were in a certain spot. The boss won't run in and bite your head off.

I dunno, but to me both these ideas contradict each other. It should be either one or the other.
Umm...I don't get the problem. Is anyone saying that the siegebreaker ripping off the barb's head, or burning the female WD and throwing her down into the puddle was uncool? And no, its not a one-hit-kill either.
To execute the special kill, do you need to be in a certain position relative to the boss with a predetermined amount of health, as LinkX suggested - or is it just that if the boss was about to kill you by a normal move, the animation automatically switches to the special move like scyberdragon said?

Did you ever read the 101 ways to die thread? The OP asked us if we wanted it to be in the game and said no because it's too free gore.
So... Who says the point of the special animation kills is to add more gore to the game?
Diablo fans.
Ah, touche. I've failed to make a link between the original thread and this extension thread
If only the OP had actually mentioned something about gore in here, rather than giving many clear indications that the only issue is the 1 hit kill reason. *blames OP* but not really

hey man sry i didn't wanted to offend you :(!
Don't quietly walk away.. nooo :((
I still don't get why anybody would think an epic death is unnecessary.
Because epicness is not allways necessary.
If you make everything epic, in the end, the epic will no longer be epic and turns into something common. And when the common are exagereted, like blood rivers and guts every time you die, the game starts to be non immersive. Then you will no longer fear death, but laught at it.
If D1 church was all covered in blood and impaled bodies, does the butcher would have the same feel?
I would prefer normal deaths, like been stabbed by swords and laying down on the ground hopelessly. This make death looks more tragic, at least for me.

I agree. Too much blood/red isn't a good thing.
Also, the special animations and special monster kills should be kept to a very minimum.
Unsure about the position thingy. The basic funda is that whenever your health is so low that you're at the point of dying i.e. the basic kill attack such as a stab or swipe would kill you anyway, you'll get some funky effect instead. I guess different positions will just trigger off different death animations...

How do you guys feel about 1 hit kills?
Wasn't it, when the boss kills you he doesnt do it with a normal swing but with a special animation?
